Nevertheless, expressing his interest, Alex warmly stated, "I would love to meet you one day in your wolf form."
Regrettably, I replied, "I don't think that will ever happen again. I am unable to fully transform into my wolf form." I confessed with a sense of sadness.
"Then why don't we give it a shot?" Alex asked, a mischievous gleam flickered in his eyes.
"What?" Confused, I frowned, unable to grasp Alex's insinuation. The two best friends certainly enjoyed speaking in puzzles.
Alex approached me, closing the distance between us. I couldn't help but raise my gaze and be awed by his tall figure. Leaning in, Alex aligned his eyes with mine and continued, "They say your wolf grows stronger after bonding with your mate. Shall we try this and discover the truth?"
"What on earth is this man trying to convey?" I questioned myself in my mind. Alex's words left me utterly astonished.
"I want you to be my mate," Alex said with fierce determination in his tone. His posture straightened, and his eyes turned solemn, signaling a shift in his entire demeanor. The charming aura he had earlier was now replaced by the dominance of an Alpha. "I want to mark you as mine."
I couldn't believe what Alex had just uttered. Given his caliber, it seemed impossible that he would suddenly take an interest in someone like me after all these years of being alone. Also, my wolf vehemently resisted, clawing at my insides and urging me to leave the place as if there was no tomorrow.
Alex forcefully held onto my arms, drawing me nearer to him. He softly murmured in my ear, causing a knot to form in my stomach.
"Let's mate," Alex whispered into my ears, making my insides twist.
I tried to break free from Alex's grasp, but he didn't even budge. Locking eyes with him, I pondered, "If Alex thinks he can deceive me like this, he is sorely mistaken."
"Don't make such absurd remarks. Unlike you, I am not without a mate, and you are well aware of that fact. Please, refrain from making such strange jokes, especially considering my connection to your best friend," I stated confidently.
"My best friend has already turned you down," Alex retorted. His eyes grew darker as he tightened his grip on my arm, leaving bruises in his wake.
"I don't think it's still possible. Despite my mate rejecting me, I can not disregard the bond I share with him until he marks someone else. Besides, I am afraid I don't feel the same way about you," I responded, my body wavering slightly.
For a brief moment, a strong hint of dominance flickered in Alex's eyes. He delicately pushed back his smooth, silk-like raven hair and remarked, "Whether it's human or a wolf, none could ever resist my allure. You have certainly exceeded my expectations. People would do anything to have a taste of me, even sell their soul to the devil, and yet, here you are, rejecting me." He appeared more menacing to me than that of a devil in that moment.
I made another attempt to leave, but Alex let out a small laugh. In just a few moments, I experienced the sensation of powerful hands seizing my hair from behind, causing me to cry out in agony. He forcefully pulled me towards him by my hair and turned my body, pressing his body against my back. He held me tightly from behind, gently cradling my face.
Despite Alex's gentle appearance, his strength far exceeded expectations. Suddenly, a sharp sensation shot through my neck, causing me to let out a scream. Alex's teeth sank deep into my neck, causing me to scream once more in agony.
The rush of blood throughout my body was palpable as I realized I was being marked by an alpha. Sensations of his wolf began to envelop me, causing my legs to grow numb. Eventually, he released his grip on my body, allowing me to clutch my neck in pain as I stared at him in disbelief. There was no romance at this moment, only feelings of disgust and betrayal. My own wolf was equally shocked, observing his blood-stained mouth that resembled that of a hungry wolf.
All of a sudden, I sensed Zen's presence. It seemed that he also felt it when our bond was severed due to me being marked by Alex. His anger engulfed him; no words were necessary as his eyes conveyed it all. Zen's gaze shifted from Alex's firm grip on my chest to the newly bitten mark on my neck—precisely where Zen had marked me just a few days prior.
Even from a distance, I could discern every vein on Zen's body becoming prominent as each muscle tensed, his eyes swiftly shifting colors. Alex's expression turned stern as well, mirroring the intense atmosphere that filled the air. He gently moved me out of his way.
In an instant, Zen shifted into a magnificent, sizable brown wolf. The wolf quivered with rage, emitting such a loud growl that it felt like an earthquake was occurring. Alex, too, shifted into his wolf form, appearing as a big, white wolf.
The animosity between the two wolves was evident as they immediately engaged in a fight. The intensity was so great that it woke everyone up in the packhouse. Terrified, everyone rushed outside, fearing that the Sapphires might have attacked us. Zen and Alex continued their battle, with Zen managing to pin Alex to the ground. He aimed for Alex's throat, intending to tear it apart.
The current Alpha of the pack came downstairs, still wearing his night robe. The other officials of the pack followed him. The guards, thinking it was an enemy invasion, were prepared to fight.
However, Zen and Alex, the two most powerful wolves of the pack, seemed to have lost their minds as they continued to fight in front of the entire pack, confusing everyone present. The rest of the pack members stood there, shocked and unable to comprehend what was happening.
The Alpha Lord growled and used his alpha command to try and stop the fight, but Zen refused to back down. Alex had claimed what belonged to him. Nothing seemed to be able to stop Zen's determination.
