Sophia's POV.
“You're mine and mine alone.” He said as he nuzzled my neck, planting soft kisses on it.
I chuckled.
He leaned towards my lips and claimed them in a passionate kiss, tearing down my defenses.
I flipped my eyes open as hard as I could. My chest was heaving up and down because of my unsteady breathing.
My forehead had sweat droplets and my eyes were teary.
A slight shiver crossed my hands at every moment.
A nightmare....huh?
Clenching over my chest, I sobbed, softly. It hurts.
The heartbreak I'm feeling hurts. A lot.
Why did he betray me like this? Just why?
Even after confronting him at the frat party, he just stood there looking at me, barely saying a word and all of a sudden, he just got in his car and drove off. Just like that, Without even a word to me.
I crumpled down to the ground sobbing until I felt Steph gathering me in her arms.
*****
Stephanie and I were having breakfast normally, without either of us saying anything.
I did not feel like uttering a single word and Stephanie seemed to read the situation so far until finally;
“Ugh geez, won't you tell me exactly what happened?” Stephanie's tone was irritated but also concerned.
“It's nothing, I just had a bad dream and it bothered me,” I said in a low voice, one that I could best squeeze out of my throat at the moment.
Stephanie remained silent for a moment, then she held my hand and I looked at her.
“Hey, I know it's hard. I've got an idea. How about we go on a crazy girl shopping? I'm sure that'll cheer you up!”
She suggested.
I hesitated a bit because of what happened at the frat party but I knew I truly needed to go out and refresh.
We finally reached our destination; the mall.
I entered the main door with Stephanie by my side, and we started wandering in the mall which was crowded like a one-direction especially considering it was a day off for most working people.
The first store we visited was stocked with fashionable clothes.
Now here's a hint. With a super trendy person like Stephanie, you would have to worry about the price tag when you finish off your shopping with her.
She was a fashion-obsessed person so in love with modern fashion, a field that was not exactly my cup of tea.
And so, my fashion designer bestie decided to pick out my clothes for me herself, like she always does.
And here she was, for more than an hour, searching for clothes she thought would suit me.
I sighed in exasperation after I'd gotten enough, especially when she suggested a dress that was nothing like my style.
“Come on Steph, you know I'd never wear something like that!”
I tried many outfits following this, some of which I liked, others which I didn't. As a result, I finally settled on a couple of cute skirts, some pairs of jeans, girly skirts, and some shorts. I was satisfied with what I bought. The clothes I like to wear and feel comfortable in.
We roamed more stores after that, from accessories to shoes and lingerie stores.
Stephanie's phone suddenly rang just as we had gotten out of the store. Judging by her wide smile as she hurried to pick up, I figured out it was Harvey, this dude she's been seeing for a while now.
I frowned softly, biting my lips at the thought. Harvey was a hot and handsome fellow but not exactly my cup of tea.
Aside from having some rude comebacks sometimes, he seemed like a player, which was a major red flag for me.
My curiosity hit hard at this, and I couldn't help but eavesdrop on their conversation which was full of romantic and excessively sugar-coated words.
Nevertheless, they finished their honey-laced conversation soon enough, only for Steph to hop a couple of times, do some spins, and clap her hands in excitement.
“Hey Soph, let's go to that shop and have some refreshing drink, my treat! I have some good news to tell you.”
And so, we went to the coffee shop in the mall and sat.
“Order, Soph?” she questioned cheerfully.
“As if you don't know what I want, Steph,” I said in a voice full of dullness when Steph made that silly face of hers.
“Oh, how can I forget? Ummm,” she smirked and turned towards the waiter, “Two hot chocolate cups, please!”
By the time our drinks arrived, I smiled in excitement as I took a sip as quickly as I could.
“So, Soph, I just want to tell you that we have a double date, on Friday night. Two weeks from now, okay,?
I choked.
“Wh— Excuse you!!? I snapped. “What the hell Steph.”
Stephanie shrugged, “you heard right. We have a date on Friday, actually umm, a month from now, after Harvey comes back from his trip. You need to stop moping around and forget about You-know-who.”
“No way Stephanie,” I said her full name to indicate how serious I was.
“Yes, Sophia.” She replied similarly.
I frowned. “I won't go, I don't want to go. I'm not in the mood for any type of date.”
“Ugh, come on, please! It's my only chance to see Harvey at the closet chance because of his work, and he said he already has some appointment with his colleague, Jack!”
I kept my indifferent expression, pursing my lips. “That has nothing to do with me. Okay?”
“Sophia, pretty pretty please?” She said in her pleading tone.
“Please Steph, stop th—” I was cut off as she continued.
“I'll make you my special homemade pancakes tomorrow and you can eat as much as you want. Please!”
I raised my chin defiantly, showing my refusal.
“Okay, Miss Sophia O'Brien, a one-month treat of the big boy’s special super Ice cream daily!” Now she did it, she hit one soft spot.
Fidgeting, I didn't want to seem like I gave in too easily. But goddammit, I did.
“Uhmm, okay, fine. I...I see you're insisting a lot.” I tried appearing as cool. “So, I'll consider it.

Our last shop sold magazines and newspapers.
As previously mentioned, Steph was very interested in the fashion industry and so, she had weekly issues she awaited.
I stepped in with her, gazing around in curiosity.
Stephanie was looking into some magazine intently and she did seem so into it. I eyed her suspiciously, walking over to her.
I looked and spotted the page. I felt goosebumps creep all over my skin.
I gaped, my eyes widening slightly as I blinked.
Good lord in the heavens. He was even here!
