Epilogue.
Sophia's POV.
“Elise! Ethan! Come down right this instant!” My voice boomed through the entire house and Alex held my hand to keep me calm, but today, I was not going to be calm. It was the third time this week they had done something mischievous and it's high time they realized the difference between right and wrong.
“It's okay, baby, they're just kids. I'm sure they didn't even realize what they were doing.” He spoke while rubbing my back up and down but I shut him up with a glare.
“They know what they are doing and it's all because of you that they've been acting like brats lately.”
Elise and Ethan were our six-year-old twins and trust me when I say that they are complete troublemakers.
Soon, I heard small footsteps descending the stairs and in no time, they were standing before me, their head hanging low, probably because they had already guessed why I called. I gave them both an angry stare before asking, “Which one of you punctured Mr Leo's tire this time?”
Their eyes exchanged stares before looking up at me with teary eyes— oh if they thought I was gonna fall for their crocodile tears this time, then they were so wrong.
“It was Ethan's idea,” Elise said, brushing a strand of hair behind her ear. Elise had ocean blue eyes just like her father and my brown hair, while Ethan had received my brown eyes and his father's black hair.
“I don't care whose idea it was, the question is why?” Alex's hand gripped my arm and I jerked it off with a glare.
Every time I tried to give them a speech on discipline, Alex stopped me saying that they were just kids and they would learn their lesson once they grow up but they were becoming more and more reckless.
“Alex, stop. Don't make me look like a bad person here. They need to understand that this kind of behavior is just not acceptable. They cannot just go around destroying our neighbor's cars.”
“We are sorry, Mommy.” They both muttered at the same time.
“Are you?” I asked, placing my hands on my hips. I love being a mother.
“We promise, we won't do any mischief again.” It was funny how they said everything in sync.
“I'm not stopping you from doing any mischief, just not the extreme ones, okay?” They happily nodded their heads and placed sloppy kisses on my cheeks before running away upstairs, probably to plan yet another one of their pranks.
I smiled at their retreating figures and turned my head towards Alex who was looking at me with amusement on his face. He placed his hand on my waist and pulled me closer, our faces inches apart.
“Damn, baby, seven years and you still turn me on like never before.” I laughed at his cheesiness and placed a kiss on the corner of his mouth.
“How's that for turning you on, baby?” He groaned and buried his face in the crook of my neck, making me giggle like a high-school girl. You'd think his magic would've faded after so many years but it was still intact and more powerful than before. Maybe that's what you call real love.
“I have to be in the office in ten minutes but you are making it hard for me, darling.” I brought my face closer, purposefully brushing my lips against his, and whispered, “Stay with me?”
He has been working hard these days and I could see the stress in his eyes. I wanted him to take a few days off but I knew how important this project was for him, so I could not exactly force him to take a few days off. At least not anymore.
“The deal with Mr Smith has already been signed, take a few days off, please?”
“How did you know that?”
“Just because I'm a stay-at-home mum doesn't mean I don't keep tabs on your deals,” I smirked. “Now who's the mischievous one?” He asked, laughter dancing in his eyes.
I stopped working in the office five months after my pregnancy. That was as far as I could convince Alex to let me work. After giving birth to the twins, I could have resumed going to work but I didn't want to leave them to nannies, and neither did I want to disturb the workplace by taking them there. So instead, I decided to quit my job to take care of our kids full-time.
Alex and I have been married for seven years now. He had proposed to me a few weeks after the whole Harvey incident, saying that he didn't want to wait any longer as he was afraid some other man would take me away from him. He was wrong. He was the only one for me. As much as he wanted a grand wedding, I wanted a small wedding in a church with just our close ones by our side.
“You're such a tease, Mrs Hayes.” He whispered huskily and I bit his lip making him groan and pull me irresistibly close.
“Only for you, Mr Hayes.” He smiled and smashed his lips upon mine, kissing me hungrily. We both moaned and groaned into each other. Things were just about to get heated when we heard our six-year-old son stomp his foot and groan, turning his head away. When did he get downstairs again?
“Mommy, Daddy, in your room!”
“Sorry, Ethan.”
“Sorry, buddy.”
We both laughed and leaned our forehead against each other. Oh God! How lucky I was to have him as my husband.
I glanced at Ethan who had his eyes closed tightly, taking this as a chance, I gave Alex a small kiss and whispered,
“Listen to our son, baby. Let's take it to the room.”
“You, my wife, are going to be the death of me.”
He threw me over his shoulder and started running towards our bedroom. It was going to be a long day and preferably, a long night too.
The End.
