CHAPTER 32

"Get the two bowls and serve them…." Alfred referred to Lena, who was stretching her hips. She had worked all day, serving people in the tavern owned by the family that had saved her. It's just a night, and she already felt at home.

Each time she sets her eyes on the young man who had the same looks and birthmark as her, she feels there is another family left, but one thing still baffles her….. who was that guy exactly?

Several times, she had inquired…. but he insisted that they never met for once and he was part of the family that brought him in. His father was dead…. he was just left with a mother and no siblings.

To think of it, why doesn't he have the same looks as his mother? All those had haunted her throughout the night. She woke up several times at midnight and took a good look at the guy.

Something was also weird about him. His mother was a human, and he was a werewolf-but a powerless wolf. He doesn't have a scent either. It seemed his wolf was suppressed and wasn't effective.

"Lena!" he mentioned, tapping her. "Are you still thinking about me? I told you already that we have nothing in common, so get it straight in your head." he tapped her forehead.

She grinned and nodded. "I agree! We have nothing in common…" she responded and took the bowl away from him. "Who should I serve next?"

Alfred pointed at the man sitting at the fourth table from where they stood. "A bowl of chicken and rice." he exaggerated and walked into the tavern to get other things ready.

Lena stiffened at that place, staring at the man Alfred had told her to serve. She blinked, her mind clouded with some weird thoughts. She kept battling with her mind, trying to recall who the man seated away from her would be.

'That's a bounty hunter-' her wolf drew her attention.

Her eyes bulged. "Bounty hunter?" She knows one thing, that those hunters are hired to search for people and are mostly used by the Mafias. She stepped back a bit and shook her head. "Alpha must have sent for them since those rogues couldn't kill me," she mumbled beneath her breath,

'And who said that he wants you dead? Just know how you talk about my mate.'

"Shut it! Does your mate care about you?" she shunned her wolf, who was being blinded by matebond. "We need to leave this place. These people aren't aware that we are wanted, and I wouldn't like their lives to be at risk." she turned, darted her eyes around, and did not find either Alfred or his mother. "It's good the hunter did not see me. I have to leave for their sake. They can't be hurt because of me." She pulled out the ribbon Alfred had given to her to tie her hair with and dropped it on the floor, then pulled out her footwear, taking the back route.

When she reached the balcony, she was taken aback to see Alfred obstructing her. Her heart skipped.

"Where are you going? Did you serve the man?" he asked her, and she shook her head. "You look…"

Lena gave him a light smack on the cheek and watched him slump to the floor. She was astounded. Why would he collapse just by slapping his cheek? She didn't mean to harm him…. she only wanted to shut him up a bit while creating a lie that she would tell him.

She squatted and listened to his heartbeat. "He passed out, that means he will soon wake up…" She stood up and picked up her footwear again. "I will leave behind my properties. Let's meet again if we are related…." she glanced backwards and took to her heels. "If Alpha didn't insist that I take a two-week rest before returning to the palace, I would have collapsed after all the stress I've put myself through."

'Now, where are you heading to?'

"I'd better leave them to be safe because I'm not sure if Alpha wants me back or dead," she replied to her wolf while heading into the woods. "If he didn't show up here, I wouldn't leave. Once he sees me, there will be no going back again. Odessa will care for the child…. we will meet in the future if he doesn't mean any harm by sending the bounty hunter." she thought, still running nonstop.

In the dungeon, Evelyn was seated. She regretted not taking precautions before attempting to poison the Alpha's child, but one thing she was narrow-minded minded was that Susan was in the room.

She had known that Susan was a slave and didn't expect her in the room because she was sure Odessa and Eowyn left. If Susan wasn't there, she would have succeeded in her plan to get rid of the child and channel her energy toward Lena and Bianca.

Now, her plans were all void.

She rested her back on the wall, staring at the empty scary cell.

"Looks like I'm the only one in this dungeon…." she muttered and winked.

A noise came from the corridor, and she knew someone was coming, so she stared, waiting to see who it was. She knew that according to her crime, there was no hope of leaving the dungeon unless she succeeded in her plans of bribing one of the soldiers and escaping to a lone land.

"My lady!" came the voice of her maid. She readjusted and smiled while the maid came into the room. "I got your lunch-" she placed it on the floor. "Lena is dead. We got the news this morning."

Her lips dropped agape. "Dead? How? Who did it?"

The maid scoffed. "I think it's Bianca. Who else will want her dead there if not her?"

"And the Alpha Don did what?"

"I'm not sure if he's even aware. According to the guards who strongly believed that the rumor was a lie, they said Alpha had hired bounty hunters to go after her….. but I'm not certain if it's after the rumor of her death or not." The maid was bringing out the meal she had brought to her mistress.

Evelyn grinned. She loved the news she heard.

"Now, Bianca feels like she's the most wanted. I hope she comes here soon." the maid added and stood. "I will return to take the plates. I hope you enjoy the meal…." she bowed and left instantly.

Evelyn chuckled and brought the plate of meal closer to herself. "Lena is dead! I am imprisoned!! Bianca is now the only one left….." She shook her head. "She will end up in her way soon. Let's see how it goes…"

She began eating, gobbling on the meal as she was so hungry.

Almost done, she coughed and gulped down the bottle of water, but she got so choked constantly that she had to push the plate aside, gripping her throat.

A heavy cough-she spitted out blood on the floor and shifted backwards.
