Chapter 157 157

Chapter 157

…

Morning finally came. When Ana woke from her sleep, she found herself on a hospital bed. She looked around and couldn’t find Alexander.

“Alexander …”
“Oh no!”
“Where is he?!” Ana immediately pulled out the IV line connected to her vein. With her face still pale and her wrist wrapped in bandages, Ana didn’t worry about her condition at all.

The only person she wanted to see and the only one she worried about was Alexander.

Ana was afraid she would never see Alexander again. She didn’t want that to happen — not even in her worst nightmares did she want to imagine it.

“HH!”

Breathing heavily, she stepped out of her room, and in the hospital corridor she saw someone she recognized — Freddie — and someone else she didn’t know, Sin.

Ana had never met Sin before.

THUMP THUMP THUMP

Ana’s heart pounded hard. With her breath caught, she slowly approached Freddie and Sin, who looked exhausted as they sat there.

“Where is he? He’s okay, right?”
“He is, right?” Ana asked with a bitter smile, trying to force herself to believe Alexander must be okay.

With tears pooling in her round eyes, her smile looked painfully sad.

Freddie turned to Ana with a very weak and pale expression. Freddie shook his head…

“Boss went through major surgery all night, and his condition is very critical. The doctors can’t confirm whether he will survive or not…”

“Boss is in a coma, and the only thing that can save him is his will to live…”

Freddie’s voice sounded weak, his gaze empty. He truly couldn’t imagine Alexander — who had always been stronger and tougher than all of them since childhood — lying helpless in a hospital room.

“Huh?”

Those words felt like a nightmare Ana never wanted to hear. No words came out of her lips, only her hands clenched tightly and the quiet sob she held back because she felt she didn’t deserve to cry.

There was no sound for a moment, only suffocating silence. No words came from Ana after that, but Ana was sure Alexander would wake up again.

“I’m sure he’ll wake up tomorrow. He’s a very strong man. We shouldn’t be gloomy — we just need to wait for him to wake up, right?”

“You’ve been with Alexander longer. I’m sure you know how strong he is, right?”

“Hmm…”

“I… I have to go back to the apartment first. I have to bring some of his clothes. He doesn’t like wearing other people’s clothes, so I’ll prepare everything he needs before he wakes up…” Ana spoke with a trembling voice, holding back the fear and tears in her heart.

Without waiting for a reply, Ana immediately left, half running because she didn’t want her tears to break free.

“He’ll be okay!”
“He will definitely keep his promise!”
“I can’t blame myself anymore. He said I’m his luck — blaming myself and continuing to be sad will only hurt him…”

“Yes!”
“I’m sure. He’ll wake up soon!” Ana whispered, clenching her hands tightly.

Still in her patient clothes, she returned to the apartment. She packed some of Alexander’s sleepwear and prepared all the things he would need.

Ana felt she had no time to be sad because Alexander would definitely be okay.

…

Time finally passed,

Everything became very chaotic because of what happened to Morgan Regis, and how Kennedy Harold exposed all his crimes.

All of Morgan Regis’s political associates were arrested because they were proven to be involved in several horrific incidents that claimed many lives.

The reputation of Abraham Kingston and his family was restored, and his death was finally clarified as being caused by Morgan Regis.

The blood that had demanded justice for decades finally received justice.

Kennedy Harold had not been able to visit Alexander at the hospital because Alexander still had not woken up.

So Camila and Hendry Harold came instead to see Alexander’s condition…

When they entered the intensive care room, Camila and Hendry could see Alexander lying on the hospital bed, with a machine showing his heartbeat.

And there was one sight that made Camila fall silent, and Hendry shocked…

“Ana…” Hendry was extremely surprised. Why was Ana in this room? Why was she sitting beside Alexander, who lay unconscious, holding his hand?

But before Hendry could continue…

“Can you step outside for a moment? I want to talk to Ana,” Camila said seriously, turning to Hendry, who had never seen her this serious before.

Hendry frowned, looked at Ana, then with all the questions in his heart, he said nothing and immediately left the room.

Camila then stepped forward and stood beside Alexander, who lay pale.

“Look, what I said happened so quickly. You can’t protect him…”

“You will only become his weakness. There will be dangers in the future, and you will hurt him without realizing it…”

“You will be hurt, Ana, because loving someone isn’t about being able to stay together. If you truly love Alexander, you know your existence is a threat to him, like what happened now…”

With a soft, trembling voice, Camila tried to open Ana’s eyes to the bitter reality she would face if she stayed by Alexander’s side.

Ana, who held Alexander’s hand tightly, looked at him with a gentle gaze. Then without turning to Camila, Ana began to speak…

“In my life, I’ve never been selfish or wanted anything before. I felt I didn’t deserve it because I’m a bringer of misfortune…”

“I always pitied myself, and if something went wrong, I was the one who had to be blamed. Living like that was so painful that I wanted to end my life many times…”

“Until Alexander came and loudly said I was his luck. At first I didn’t understand what that meant. I was happy he said it, but I didn’t understand the meaning…”

“Until that night happened, when his life was in danger because of me, he still said I was his luck…”

“And finally I understood what it meant…”

“It means I don’t have to bow my head in front of anyone anymore. I don’t have to blame myself for everything that happens, because I am his luck — someone precious to him…”

Ana spoke gently, then turned to Camila…

“I know you’re saying all this because you’re worried about me, but I can’t leave Alexander. My answer is still the same as last time — I will never let go of his hand…”

“If I, who am his luck, leave him, then a bad thing will come into his life, and I don’t want that to happen…”

“I just need to be more careful. I just need to become a strong woman by his side. I will wait for him to wake up and collect his promise…”

“I’m sorry, Miss Camila, but no matter what you do, I will never leave Alexander… Because I love him, and I want him to stay by my side,” Ana said firmly, making Camila fall silent.

Without realizing it, tears flowed down Camila’s face. She was angry, but somehow there was relief in her chest, and that relief annoyed her.

“Ah damn!”
“Why am I crying?” Camila grumbled, wiping her tears. She shouldn’t cry in front of others and show weakness, but somehow she couldn’t hold them back now.

After wiping her tears, Camila was about to leave the room, but before she left…

“I didn’t come here because I’m worried about you, why are you so confident!”
“Fine, I accept my defeat. Who would want to be with a man who has so many enemies like your man anyway?”

“You two really match, and I ... Camila Harold, deserve a man who won’t put me in danger!” Camila said, then turned and left.

She had seen that Ana was fine. Like it or not, to Camila, Ana was the first friend who made her feel guilty.

But Camila didn’t want to admit it.

After Camila left, Ana smiled faintly, then hugged Alexander…

“She’s so cute right? I’m sure Miss Camila will find a gentle man who deserves her. And did you hear what I just said?”

“I said I love you. You have to repay my confession with a thousand hugs and kisses!”

Ana muttered softly, closing her eyes. “So wake up and don’t make me feel lonely. You’ve stolen my heart, so you have to take responsibility!” she whispered softly.

She spoke like Alexander — she wanted him to take responsibility for her feelings.

…

At the same time…

Hendry, who chased after Camila when she suddenly ran away crying, learned the fact that the man Ana once talked about was Alexander.

That made Hendry fall silent and feel foolish. He truly knew nothing and had been so confident he could win Anastasya.

That fact hit Hendry so hard, and for the first time, he felt heartbreak even though he had never officially ask to date Ana.
