Chapter 144
…
Alexander kept glancing at his phone. His brows were tightly furrowed, and his gaze turned razor-sharp when there was still no reply from Ana.
“Tch!”
“She didn’t even send me a message after I sent my men to pick her up …”
“This woman really knows how to make me suffer!” Alexander growled irritably. He couldn’t calm himself down.
His mind and heart were completely filled with Anastasya.
“Boss, we’ve arrived.”
His men stopped the car. They had reached the Harold residence, as Alexander was scheduled to discuss something very important with Kennedy Harold.
“Hm…”
There was no response. His mood was foul. Alexander simply stepped out of the car as the head butler and several servants immediately welcomed him into the residence.
Alexander walked forward with firm steps. He had to remain calm. He restrained his emotions, his gaze once again steady and sharp.
Inside the room, Kennedy Harold was already waiting. Kennedy immediately stood up to welcome Alexander De Graham.
The conversation began with light conversation, until Alexander, in a serious and flat tone, said something that shocked Kennedy Harold, yet also brought him a sense of relief.
“Mr. Harold, my visit today isn’t merely for small talk. There is something important I wish to discuss …”
Alexander spoke as Kennedy fell silent, calmly waiting for what he would say next.
As the room grew quiet, Alexander clenched his hands. His breathing grew heavy, revealing the immense burden he carried within.
“I am not Raymond De Graham’s biological son, as I previously claimed …”
Kennedy’s eyes widened instantly. His hands trembled, his breathing turned heavy. His suspicion from the beginning had been correct—Alexander was …
“I am the biological son of Abraham Kingston, saved by Raymond De Graham at my father’s request.”
“I concealed my identity to investigate what truly happened, who wiped out my family and why they were so ruthless!”
Alexander’s voice trembled, filled with restrained rage.
His jaw tightened, and with sharp eyes, he continued,
“At first, you were one of the parties I suspected. But after thoroughly investigating, it appears you were not involved in the massacre of my family. I have examined your past accounts, and based on the evidence I found, there were no lies in your statements…”
“So I decided to trust you.”
After saying all of that, Alexander turned toward Kennedy, who was still processing the information. Confusion was evident on his face, before tears slowly welled up in his aged eyes.
Unwilling to show his tears, Kennedy Harold turned his face away.
“Ah, it seems I’ve grown old. My eyes dry easily and start to tear up,” Kennedy said in a trembling voice.
He hadn’t expected the regrets of his past to stand before him again. Abraham Kingston’s plea to save his family still echoed—now carried by the son of his friend had once begged him to protect.
With a shaking voice, Kennedy continued,
“No wonder your eyes resemble his so closely. My suspicion was never wrong…”
“So, what do you want from me? I will help you however I can, perhaps as atonement to Abraham for failing him in the past…”
Still turning away, Kennedy Harold sobbed quietly, unwilling to let Alexander see him cry.
Hearing this, Alexander let out a long breath and continued,
“Mr. Harold, I need your help. I have uncovered news that was erased decades ago, reports about the Eden Group, which appears to be the mastermind behind the massacre of civilians in the eastern region, seizing their land for mining and industrial development. After that news vanished, my father’s company disappeared as well…”
“According to the timeline, a few days later, my family was slaughtered, and my home was burned down along with an orphanage housing children who were victims of war and massacres carried out by Eden group.”
“Based on the timeline you told me, before the massacre, my father came to you asking for help to save his family. You refused because you didn’t want to interfere with the election at the time. It seems my father then turned to Raymond De Graham, who sadly arrived too late…”
“I’ve investigated Eden Group also, a mining conglomerate controlling massive business branches worldwide. They are a funding source for world leaders’ campaigns, and their network is vast and highly structured. The Eden owner known to the public is merely a puppet concealing the real owner…”
“I cannot touch the political world without your assistance. There is information that has been blocked and tightly protected…”
“Mr. Harold, I want your party to win this election. The current president comes from a party backed by Eden Group. If your party wins, we can access crucial information that has long been locked away in state archives.”
Alexander spoke calmly, yet his eyes burned like dark blue flames. Though still young, he knew exactly what he had to do.
His plan would fail without access to the protected state archives.
The wars from decades ago, the chaos, and economic imbalance that caused mass deaths were not accidental—they were deliberate attempts to control the global economy and world leaders.
That was likely what Abraham Kingston had tried to expose and why he was eliminated.
Hearing this, Kennedy Harold fell silent. His breathing was heavy. He knew that helping Alexander would put him in danger, because whoever stood behind Abraham Kingston family’s massacre was the true power behind Eden Group.
Alexander already had several suspects, but all of them had deep political roots—important figures whose information was nearly impossible to uncover.
The only way Alexander could expose everything was if Kennedy Harold agreed to help him.
“Hh…”
Kennedy exhaled heavily, his eyes dull as he recalled Abraham Kingston’s desperate face when he had begged for help, help that Kennedy had refused.
He didn’t want to repeat the same mistake.
Kennedy looked at Alexander and smiled faintly.
“In the past, I made an unforgivable mistake, a lifelong regret I will always carry. I won’t repeat it. I failed to help my friend Abraham, but I will help his son, the son he wanted to save…”
“I will obtain that information as soon as possible. I will try during the election period, as it seems the candidate from my party may not win due to the ongoing controversies…”
“But during the election, government positions will loosen slightly. I will use all the power I have to obtain that information.”
Kennedy Harold agreed to help Alexander, making Alexander release a relieved breath.
His blood burned hot, his body trembling intensely, he was getting closer to the truth he had been seeking.
From the list of names Sin had found, one of them was surely the mastermind behind all of this.
Alexander would find them.
