Zelda's treat
Zelda's treat
AT AGATHA PACK
Third POV
Zelda paced the floor of her mother’s cabin like a restless wolf. Her nails bit into her palm as she spun around to face the older woman, whose eyes followed her every movement with cold precision.
“Nothing is working, Mother! Nothing!! I’ve tried everything...he still won’t look at me!” she snapped, voice breaking.
Her mother stepped forward and gently placed her hand on her daughter’s tense shoulders.
“You’re destined to be Luna, Zelda. Even if you weren’t born of an Alpha bloodline, you were born for greatness. Beta Michael will come around. He just needs more time to forget that cursed Ariadne.”
“But it’s been over three moons!” Zelda growled. “She’s been missing since the Wildflower raid, and yet he still refuses to even speak to me! I’m done chasing after him, Mother!”
As their argument heated, Zelda muttered bitterly about the way Michael used to look at Ariadne. How it tore her apart every time. How even now, his loyalty to the memory of Ariadne made her invisible.
With a deep, defeated sigh, she faced her mother again. “I’ll just tell him I’m sorry. I’ll let him wait for her ghost. I’m done.”
But her mother’s wicked smile returned.
“Will you do as I asked, Zelda?” she asked softly, eyes gleaming.
Zelda frowned. “I’ve done everything you asked… I flirted with him, played nice with the Elders, even lied about helping the orphans during the raids. What else do you want from me?”
“You shouldn’t feel guilty,” her mother replied coldly. “Ariadne stole the spotlight like she always did, just because she’s Alpha Ebenezer’s daughter. But I know how to break whatever hold she still has on him.”
Zelda’s brow furrowed. “What are you talking about?”
“Her mother… Vivianne. She wasn’t just some Luna. She was descended from the Moon-Sister line, the sacred blood of Golda, the vanished witch of the Reman Bloodline. Her kind are cursed... and dangerous.”
“Witches?” Zelda echoed.
“Yes. The Mooncrest witches were feared, wiped out… or so they thought. But one survived. Vivianne. And now her blood runs in Ariadne,” her mother sneered. “It’s not love between her and Michael. It’s enchantment.”
Zelda’s lips parted in slow shock. “You think she bewitched him?”
Her mother nodded. “And I know how to undo it. But we’ll need help.”
“From a witch?”
Her mother leaned in, whispering, “From a Shadow-Walker. Someone who practices the Forbidden Magic. Someone who can shift the bond in your favor.”
Zelda blinked. “But Mother...spellwork is banished in the Agatha Pack! If the Elders find out...”
Her mother scoffed. “Who cares about the rules when your future as Luna is slipping away?” Then, without another word, she left to summon the one who could twist fate in their favor.
WILDFLOWER PACK – THAT NIGHT
Aria stirred the porridge quietly, her hands trembling as smoke rose into her nose. She coughed, blinking back tears. On the table, she placed three bowls...one for Phoenix, one for herself, and one...
For Regaleon.
From her cloak, she pulled out a small vial. The powder inside shimmered faintly. Her lips moved in a whisper only the Moon Goddess could hear.
“Forgive me.”
She sprinkled the contents into his bowl and stirred quickly, heart racing as she heard his steps approaching the lodge.
The door creaked open.
“Need help?” Regaleon’s voice was cool, suspicious.
“No,” she replied too quickly, turning with a tense smile.
He sniffed the air. “Smells... better than usual.”
“Thanks,” she whispered.
But as she made to leave, his hand shot out, gripping her wrist.
“Sit,” he ordered.
Aria froze. “I...I already ate...”
“You’re under my protection, not a prisoner tonight,” he said flatly. “Eat.”
His words confused her more than comforted. She sat reluctantly beside him, trying not to glance at the poisoned bowl.
He pushed his plate toward her. “Try some.”
Her eyes widened. “I...I’m allergic to prunes,” she lied.
Regaleon didn’t blink. Instead, a cruel smirk curved his lips as he twisted her ankle sharply under the table.
“OWW...!!” she gasped.
He leaned in close, eyes glowing like a storm. “You think I wouldn’t notice? You wanted to kill me?”
Tears welled in her eyes. “No! I...I had no choice! I didn’t want to...”
He yanked her to the floor and dragged her into the cold back room of the lodge.
“You were sent to destroy me. Just like your father tried to destroy my family. Do you think I’ll let history repeat itself?”
“Please!” she cried. “I never asked to be brought here...I just wanted to go home!”
“Then you should’ve acted like someone worth saving,” he spat, slamming the wooden door shut.
Darkness swallow
ed her as his footsteps faded away.
“Regaleon! Please don’t leave me!”
But no answer came.
