Chapter 3 You Are a Heartbreaker!
Livia was startled by his bloodshot eyes and decided to make a quick exit. He caught her wrist and yanked her back. Suddenly, her shoulders were weighed down, and she found herself pinned against the cold wall.
"What do you want? Let go of me!" Livia hissed, struggling against his grip.
Angelo's hold was strong, immobilizing her.
"Don't move!" His raspy voice, heavy with the scent of alcohol, brushed hot and damp against her neck.
Livia turned her head away, gasping for breath. "What the hell do you want?"
"I miss you so damn much," he growled.
She was shocked. Her hands dropped to her sides and her heart fluttered. She took a deep breath, trying to calm the surge of emotions his words stirred. Tears came to her eyes. "We broke up."
His entire body tensed up at her words. Livia kept her wits about her. She loved him, but they were over. This wasn't right. It shouldn't be happening.
Angelo turned his head, his lips grazing her cheek before planting kisses down her neck. His intentions were unmistakable as his hands found her waist.
Livia closed her eyes and took a breath, her voice trembling lightly. "You come here to haunt me, offering no future. Do you want me to stay hidden forever?"
His kisses paused abruptly.
A sudden pain at her collarbone startled her. He was actually biting her!
"Angelo!" Livia's eyes reddened with fury as she bellowed.
Angelo licked the area he had just bitten, taunting her. "Thinking of me while dating other men, you're such a jerk."
Furious and frantic, Livia gathered all her strength to push him away and delivered a sharp slap across his face—clean and unmistakable.
Panting, she glared at him. "You're shameless!"
Angelo pressed his tongue against the inside of his cheek while his dark eyes brimmed with emerging danger.
He pinned her shoulders and ravaged her lips with his own, biting and gnawing with not a hint of gentleness.
Fear took root in Livia's heart. No matter how hard she pushed, she couldn't break free from his iron grip. Humiliation engulfed her, and tears cascaded down her face.
Angelo tasted her tears, his hand reaching to stroke her moistened cheek.
His anger cooled, though his breath became rapid. He stared at the tear-stained woman, irrationally irritated. "Do you have to get married? Would it really be so bad not to?"
Livia tried to appear composed as she asked, "Don’t you just want a fling?"
Marriage without commitment was like a cruel form of teasing: indulging in selfish whims without a thought for consequences.
"What's so great about marriage anyway? Why are you in such a rush to marry him?" Angelo's voice was hoarse, like a perturbed lion issuing a warning growl.
"Yes, I do want to marry him, so stop bothering me," Livia retorted, breathing heavily.
Angelo gripped her shoulders tightly as if he could crush them. "Have you slept with him?"
"It's none of your business," Livia wanted to get away from him and end the conversation.
As soon as she tried to leave, he pinned her against the wall again. He tilted her chin up and locked eyes with her, his sexy Adam's apple bobbling. His lips brushing past her ear, he whispered, "I can't get used to anyone else. How could you get used to him?"
Livia found herself unable to resist his advances.
She turned her head away, suppressing the strange sensation within her, irritated as she thought about the woman who had called him that day.
"Even being with you had its adjustment period."
Angelo's grip on her chin tightened just a bit, leaving a red mark on her fair skin.
Seeing her defiant look, Angelo wanted to make her beg for mercy.
He leaned down and fiercely kissed her lips, sucking with mad intensity.
Livia, in pain, pushed him, pounded on him, and pinched the flesh around his waist, but it was all in vain.
After a while, Angelo released her, and seeing her bright eyes filled with anger, his fingers tenderly wiped her swollen red lips. With a sideways glance and a sinister smile, he said, "You really are heartless."
Following his gaze, Livia felt uneasy and looked over to see Jonny standing there.
At that moment, Livia was mortified.
Angelo was a bastard. In front of Jonny, he bit her earlobe again, breathing hotly against her. "Tell me, do you think he'll still want to marry you?"
Furious and ashamed, Livia pushed him with all her might, but he let her go. With absolutely no shame, he smugly turned and walked away.
Livia trembled all over. When she looked back toward Jonny, he was gone.
"Asshole!" Livia cried out, cursing Angelo.
Just as she expected, Jonny broke up with her.
Even if there hadn’t been any love between them, no man could witness such a scene and pretend nothing happened.
Jonny said they could still be friends. Livia knew that was just a polite lie.
After the breakup, Livia wasn't upset at all, a stark contrast to Matilde's sighs and groans.
After her class, Livia walked back to her apartment.
She saw Angelo's car downstairs.
She felt a tight feeling in her chest, and she walked away without glancing at him.
Once in the elevator, she had just pressed the button when she saw Angelo approaching her.
As she tried to close the doors on him, his long arms and legs jammed through the closing doors.
Livia stepped back, putting as much distance as possible between them.
Angelo leaned against the wall with his hands in his pockets, his eyes a captivating hue that seemed to draw people in.
Livia knew he possessed eyes filled with passion yet harbored a heart that remained aloof and detached.
When she left the elevator, Angelo followed suit.
"What the hell do you want?" Livia snapped.
Angelo's lips parted slightly. His voice was rich and enthralling. "Livia."
Livia's brows knitted together slightly. He seldom called her by her name. Even in the usual phone calls, it was all business.
"You asked what I want. I want to fuck you." The words slipped off Angelo's lips with such ease that it was impossible to find them repulsive.
Perhaps it was his good looks. Everything he did seemed pleasing and justified.
Livia's cheeks flushed. Biting her lip, she had no response to such a crude remark.
She was a teacher. She didn't use foul language, let alone speak with such vulgarity.
"Open up. I have something for you," Angelo urged her.
"What is it that you can't give me right here?"
Angelo raised an eyebrow. "Are you sure you want it right here?"
The mischievous smirk tugging at the corner of his mouth made even the most decent words seem indecent.
Livia knew that if she let him in, he might not leave that night.
She was weak-willed. Whenever he came close, she couldn't muster the heart to turn him down.
As soon as the door was opened, Angelo grabbed her hand, pinned her against the wall, and silenced her with a kiss.
It was as if he was punishing her, nipping and biting at her lips, his hands gripping her waist, squeezing with intensity as if caught between relenting and not.
Livia couldn't reject his kiss, just as she couldn't reject him as a person.
Even though she was acutely aware he would never marry her, she still found herself lost in the intoxicating chaos of affection he offered.
After a while, Angelo released her.
With a teasing sparkle in his eyes, he lightly traced her plump, rosy lips with his finger. "You see, you can't get away from me. Why bother marrying someone else?"
