Chapter 47

Chapter 47
Chapter Forty-Seven

Sitting up, I pulled Kane’s shirt over my head, tossing it into the laundry hamper. Sliding to the edge of the bed, I pulled the sheets up, wanting to hide what I had done. I didn’t want him to know that I’d come from the thought of being with the two of them. I moved about the bed, pulling the sheets off before taking them downstairs to his washer. I started a load before grabbing a fresh set from the shelves in his laundry room. I’d change the sheets, then shower.

I would wash away the feelings that I knew I shouldn’t be having. I loved Kane, a part of me would always want and care about Dom. Even though it had only been for the weekend. He’d made me feel something that no one else had. Something that Kane was nurturing, I felt like I belonged.

It was a feeling that I wasn’t going to take for granted, even if I was still upset that he’d claimed me without asking.

Making my way back to Kane’s room, I grabbed my phone. I wanted to make sure he was okay after I got his room sorted. Clutching the sheets to my chest. My body still felt overly warm and sore.

When I got upstairs, I didn’t bother turning on the light as I moved about the room. Making his bed up, I smiled to myself. Kane liked luxury when he slept. His sheets were the softest I’d ever felt, and I knew that the thread count was super high. I thought about when I’d found out his little secret. How he’d joked that I was going to have to sleep here sometime to find out just how nice things could be.

He wasn’t wrong. The sheets were nice and as I smoothed out the crisp white linens. I knew that I wouldn’t be able to go back to sleep easily. Stepping back, I nodded to myself. His bed was back in order and hopefully that would hide my sins.

Turning away from the bed, I walked to the bathroom. Flipping on the light switch as I went, I made my way to the shower. Turning on the taps to let the water warm up. I grabbed a towel, hanging it on the shower rod before I realized that I wouldn’t be able to shower right now. Bringing my fingers up, I ran them over the leather of the collar. How was I supposed to get this off?

Moving to the mirror, I pulled on the collar. Twisting it around my neck to try to find a way to take it off. I realized that there was no way to get it off and I was going to have to wait til Kane got home to really clean up. Running my fingers through my hair, I scrubbed at my scalp, letting out a sigh of frustration. I turned the water off, instead grabbing the stopper and plugging the tub.

I’d soak for a bit before trying to go back to sleep. Maybe it would help me relax. Right now, I still felt tense. Anxious to see Kane. I made my way back into his room as the tub filled up, swiping my screen open, I looked at the time.

He hadn’t been gone for very long, still I sent him a text message. Turning the screen off, I tossed my phone onto the bed before heading back into the bathroom. I turned the water off, picking up one of the bottles that rested on the ledge and unscrewing the top. I sniffed the bath oil. It smelled sweet, like orange candy.

I poured some into the steaming water before stepping into the tub. I sat down, hissing at the sting of the warm water against my sore bottom. Other parts of me ached to, but a good kind of ache that I could get used to. Leaning back, I rested my head against the tiled wall as I closed my eyes.

Tomorrow would be better. Kane and I would talk about the claiming, and I wanted to know more about dragons. I had a feeling that if I looked it up online, the information wouldn’t be correct. No doubt I’d find some sci-fi movie with a bad plot and equally bad acting. Hopefully, he could explain it more to me.

Right now, I still felt a little out of it. When I’d left Friday afternoon, I’d thought my world was coming down around me. Now I was staying at my best friend’s apartment, who had confessed that he was in love with me and a dragon. That I was his.

It was a lot to take in. I had no doubt that it would get better. It had to. Things had to slow down or I knew that I was going to break.

I tried to relax, but the more I tried, the harder it seemed to become. Was it the bond? Was Kane anxious about something?

What had he found that was making him anxious?

I cleaned up and let the water out of the tub, giving up on relaxing. Toweling off, I hung the now damp towel back onto the shower rack before making my way back to his room. I grabbed another one of his shirts, slipping it on before picking up my phone. There were no new messages.

Worrying my lower lip, I stood up, heading back down stairs. I’d watch a movie while waiting for him, that way we could talk about everything that had happened. The apartment was eerily quiet. Maybe that’s why I was so anxious?

Normally, it was filled with Kane talking or music as he gamed or worked out. Shaking my head, I walked into the living room. The lights were still on from earlier. I went about the room, turning them off except for the lamp beside the couch. I grabbed a fuzzy blanket from off the big recliner before settling myself onto the couch. Remote in hand, I flipped to the hallmark channel. Ready to veg out with some cheesy chick-flick.

Hoping that some mindless romance would relax me and take my mind off of everything. I was in luck, a movie was just starting. I grabbed one of the pillows and held it to my chest. Dom liked cheesy romances. Had he seen this one, was he watching it now?
