CHAPTER 30—AMELIA POV

"How about a partnership?"

An involuntary smile spreads across my face as I get what I wanted.

"Hmm…I don't know, Chopra. Don't think I have time to work with people of such low stature." I smirk. He laughs dryly.

"Amelia, I'm still the best you could work with," he scoffed.

"But I don't need a partnership with you anymore. If anything, you need me now."

"I don't need anything, Miss Davis, but I want you." His voice lowered.

"I'll meet you in an hour at your office." I ended the call.

I leave my drink, only having had less than half of it and eat the leftovers from dinner before leaving to meet Chopra.

Going to his office was much easier as I know that the media would be surrounding Eva Enterprises for a chance to interview me, however no one would think I'm going to meet my competition.

His secretary took me to his office and told me that he would "join me shortly."

"I warned you. In a month, you'll be begging to work with me." I smirk as he walks into the office.

"Good morning to you too," he said, sitting before me. He didn't have his usual smirk this time.

"Why did you call me here?"

"You're officially the best," he said bitterly. "And I want a part of it."

"I—"

"But first," he cut me off, "I want to see proof that he really gave up his company to you."

I pull the document out of my handbag, and hand it to him to see. I had made sure that Xavier didn't include anything about me returning the company to him in a week because I knew that Chopra would want to see.

"Don't even try anything. Xavier and I both have about 20 copies of that document each," I warned him.

He chuckled. "I don't play that dirty."

He takes his time reading the contract, not believing his eyes.

"How did you get him to do this?" His voice is laced with disbelief.

"Kings Corp. is in better hands. It's better to watch it thrive with me than die with him."

"Let's talk business now," he said. I nodded, and he told me what he wanted. "I'll take 10% of your business and vice versa.”

"And why is your 10% worth the same as mine?" I asked, raising an eyebrow. I would be losing money this way.

He doesn't say anything.

"I'll do 10%, but you'll only get 10% of Eva Enterprises. I'm keeping King all to myself."

"That's nothing new. We could’ve done that before you took Kings Corp.," he said.

"Well, you took your time, and now I'm calling the shots. 10% or I'm leaving."

"Fine." He raised his hands in surrender. After thinking for a few moments, he nodded. "I'll do it."

"Good decision."

"It'll take about an hour to make the contract," he said. "Would you like to grab a coffee downstairs?" He referred to the cafe in his building.

"Sure," I lied.

I really don't want to but it's better to be on his good side until the contract is signed.

We take the glass elevator down, as I watch eyes widen of all the employees as they see me.

When we get to the cafe, Alexander grabs 2 coffees and brings them to a table where I'm already sat.

"So, what is Mr Chopra like outside of the office?" I asked.

"Please call me Alexander or Alex," he said, sipping his coffee.

I took a sip of the coffee and fought the urge to spit it back into the cup.

Plain black.

"What is it with you businessmen drinking plain black coffee?" I asked with disgust, walking back to the counter to get some creamer and sugar.

"Are you Mr Chopra's date?" the barista asked while pouring the creamer into my cup.

Is that why everyone was staring at me?

"God, no." I laughed. "He's just a business associate," I clarified.

"Just, well. I've never seen him with a girl, and I've worked here since he moved to New York," she said and handed me my cup back.

I thank her and go and sit back with Chopra, or Alex should I say.

"So, you've never had a girlfriend?" I asked him. His eyebrows rose at the abruptness of my question.

"How do you know that?" he asked.

"Your staff are very friendly," I said and gestured for him to explain.

"It's true," he said. "So preoccupied with making a name for myself that I haven't had time."

"I get that," I agreed.

"What do you mean?" He laughed. "You were married,"

"Since I started Eva Enterprises, I mean."

"But I'm doing pretty good now," he said, looking at me. "I’m looking for a girl now to complete my life."

He was a handsome man to be honest, light brown skin, dark hair gelled back and hazel eyes. If he was not my business rival, I could definitely see myself with someone like him.

But as he said, I don't mix business and pleasure.

My phone rang, and I excused myself for a moment.

"You have an interview with Business American tomorrow to discuss the Kings Corp. thing." Jodie said, and I could hear her typing furiously.

"That's perfect. I have more than that to tell them," I said.

"What?" she asked.

"Guess who just got equity with Pyramid?" I cried proudly.

"Congratulations!" she said excitedly. "Hey, I better get a raise now," she joked.

When I come back to the table Chopra's phone buzzed against his pocket, he checks it an gets up. "The papers are ready."

We make it back to his office, this time less stares. He hands me a pen and I sign my name on the bottom on the paper.

He signs his name next to mine.

He stands up and shakes my hand. His large hands are warm and encapsulate mine completely. "Nice doing business with you."

"I hope you make me as much money as I know I'll make you."

"Overconfidence," he commented.

"Reality."
