Chapter 177 MEET-UP I

Chapter 177 MEET-UP I
Maverick’s POV

The last few days had felt… choppy.

Sometimes when I woke up in the morning there would be a split second, where I would be blank before I remembered the horrors the previous day had added on and my head would immediately start pounding.

Like now. I woke up, and promptly placed my head in my hands for a second massaging, hoping against hope that it was all vivid dreams that I was remembering.

It wasn’t.

Those things had happened. I glanced over at the side of the room Bohdi had slept in yesterday, sighing. I could swear that the ground was darker there, that there was an imprint of him left behind.

I got up, took a bath, got dressed and went to write my exams.

I had sat down, balancing in my seat when I remembered that I had done any revision, last night or this morning.

Panic gripped my heart. I glanced around at the other students already putting pen to paper, feeling a scream bubbling in my throat.

It was all getting to be too much.

I forced it down, grabbing my shaky hands and closing my eyes. Then I dropped my head and just breathed Deep breaths in, deep breaths out. I may have not revised anything but that didn’t mean I didn’t know anything.

I wrote the exam, sweating the entire time.

Going back home, it felt like my headache had multiplied. Unlike the last one, I really had no idea how I did.

Then I walked back into the room and felt the urge to slam my head against the door. I didn’t like how empty it felt.

Sighing, I went over to my bed, intending to sit down for a bit before getting something to eat. I hadn’t had an appetite this morning before I left and I didn’t have one now, but I needed to eat anyway.

My phone vibrated with a text and I glanced at it as I started to lay down.

Bohdi.

I sat back up immediately, ignoring Raymond’s text and skimmed through his own. He just got out of his exam… going to drop off his book bag in his room and he wants me to meet him somewhere…

I was standing at the same moment the address came in and out of the door before I read it. I found a cab, rattled off the address and we were off.

It wasn’t far away but it was definitely hidden away. I got down from the cab and looked around for the road the gps said to find and follow.

There. A small walk path between two buildings.

It wasn’t dark, spooky, or long but it did put me behind a tall establishment, so you couldn’t locate the, admittedly large and modern-looking, hotel except you knew where to look.

I walked in, the receptionist sitting up as he sees me enter. I checked the name he gave me twice before saying it, and he handed me a key almost immediately.

Hmm…

I got into the empty elevator, pressed the button for our floor and watched the doors closed. Bohdi was hiding me.

We didn’t have a public relationship but this was definitely worse. I knew with everything going on we’d have to be careful but this was hardcore.

I guess I hadn’t thought about it until now but someday I wanted to have a partner I could love openly. That mattered to me, has mattered to me for a long time. It was the reason I risked it all with David.

It had made me jaded. I had pushed love away and even till now I wasn’t sure if I wanted it back. But I wanted to be around Bohdi as much as possible, wanted to be in a relationship with him. That counted for something I knew. He was softening my heart and I was curious to see where this would go.

So this was fine.

Besides, he was right. It had taken a hot minute for me to let go of my own shame, disappointment and even rage on the matter but I actually don’t want him to end up the way I had.

I walked into the room and texted him, that I’d arrived. It was a nice room, in shades of beige and forest geeen, lit but softly. I feel backwards on the bed, wondering if I could afford to get some food here.

Being in Bohdi’s payroll had been great, almost the same as fighting in the club with yes, less of a rush, but also less pain. Rocky was doing really well and I was so proud of him.

As for my father… other than the initial anger, and the anger that followed that plus the residual anger I still had, I’d barely thought of him. And I would keep it that way for as long as I could.

Should I go to the funeral?

The door opened and Bohdi walked in, shutting he door behind him. He smiled widely when he saw me, yanking his hat off his head to place it on a side table. His bag followed and then the bulky, black coat.

I had told myself that I wouldn’t focus on that so I didn’t.

I stood and we met in the middle of the room. We searched each others face, the silence a little bit awkward.

“So how was your exam?” I asked.

“Great,” he swallowed, his cheeks becoming rosy. “What about you?”

I really didn’t want to bring up my doubts so I replied, “Fine.”

He nodded, then we lapsed into another silence again. Fuck.

“Look—”

“See—”

We both laughed, and I unconsciously reached up to rest a hand on Bohdi’s shoulders, brushing against his cheeks in the way there.

He exhaled sharply, my touch shifting something, morphing the moment in a second.

Fuck, the things I wanted to do to him.

Bohdi surged forward, capturing my lips.
