Chapter 33
I am in the bathtub today washing myself. Somehow I like how the water is trickling down my skin. I had avoided the shower as much as possible but today I decided to go in it and I am loving it. I run my fingers on my skin while I rub the foam everywhere. I turn back to get my scrub and I find Thorne standing by the door frame leaning against it in his formal wear minus the suit jacket. I take a big breath and grab my scrub.
“It's rude sometimes to watch a person taking a shower”, I reply.
I turn around and use the scrub to cleanse my body. After some time I switch off the water and the shower door opens. I turn back to Thorne and he has a towel in his hands.
I walk out of the shower and he wipes my body first before he wraps me in the towel and scoops me up like a child heading to the main bedroom.
“You talk too much sometimes” he adds and I gasp as he smiles.
“I don't”
“Mmmh”, He inserts his fingers under my chin and elevates my head to drop a kiss on my lips.
“Get dressed. I have a surprise for you”
“What is it?”, I inquire.
“It wouldn't be a surprise if I told you now Mrs. Nathaniel ”, I grinned.
I know some of my language but not as much as I want to.
“Mmmh okay then. What does your mom say to your dad again?”, He frowns as I think.
“What?"
“Oh she calls him Baba”
“I am younger than my father to be called that”, he adds and he helps me get dressed.
“Do you forgive your parents for what occurred in the past?", he stares at me.
“Mmmh”
“Thorne don't be like that. Talk to me”, he sighs.
“It's complicated”
“I see...they will be our child's grandparents”, I reply.
”I know. I honestly don't know”, he says.
“To me, it looks like you have forgiven them but you don't want to let go of the past. You trusted them with me”, he looks at me.
“Maybe”, I sigh.
This will be challenging to get it out of
I have always wanted to be surprised. In a nice manner though. Well, I would argue that so far life has done both. I would gladly state I have had my terrible and good times in this life. I have had some excellent times where I felt free and a bit careless and happy as I would say. More or less safe.
We are in the backseat of this moving automobile while the driver is driving about in several regions of Lagos. I am glancing out of the window while Thorne is engaged on his iPad. I would say that I am not familiar with this location but I am getting there. It has been months and I am starting to chronicle all the places that we travel to with Thorne. I shift my eyes from the view and stare at him as he is pounding away on his gadget with his bushy eyebrows furrowed at whatever he is looking at on the device. I sigh and rest my hand on his thigh and he doesn't glance up to me but is riveted to his device. I see his chest releasing some stress by relaxing and I turn back outside the window before his fingers entangle with mine I look back to him and he is holding my hand. Butterflies settle in my gut and I feel bashful. I glance aside. I feel like in love for the first time and It's all because of this man next to me.
The automobile arrives at another spot. This location appears more or less like a building of some type. The door opens on his side and he leaps out before it closes. The door that is and he comes to open the door for me. He takes his hand out and helps me out then grabs my waist. He locks the door behind me and walks me.
“What are we here for?”, I ask.
“You will see”
“Where is this place?”
“Calm down, you will see”, He gives out a tiny smirk and I grin.
“Okay”, We enter the building and there is security.
“Boss”, The guy says and nods.
“Mmh”, Thorne replies and we continue deeper in.
“You are always serious with your workers”
“I should be”
“Mmmh”, we proceed to step inside and we reach a room. He presses a passcode and the door unlocks.
He stares at me and I glance at him before he sighs and opens the door to this location.
It opens and it's like a gallery. Every single photo is collaged on the wall.
“What is this place?”, I inquire while glancing around.
“It's a sentimental room.”, he moves farther in and he lets go of my hand as I gaze about.
I notice some baby images and some more toddler photographs and more.
“Is this you?”, I ask “Yes” Oh my goodness he looked so lovely! I glance around the room and notice images of tiny girls that appear more or less the same. I proceed towards that side of the wall.
“Are these your sisters?”, I inquire
He doesn't react, instead, I hear his footsteps approach behind me and he stands there.
“Yes”, I turned around to look at him.
“Why show me this room?”, I ask “I want to”, I bite my bottom lip and nod.
I turn around and gaze at the wall.
“Thank you. This matters a lot to me”, I say. It truly does mean much. It suggests he is opening up to me and letting me in his space. It may be hard for him to do so yet he is letting me in.
He puts his arms around my waist and I lean my head on his chest while we stay quiet. This is truly a stunning space. I am amazed.
NARRATED
Jason was sleeping on his bed soaked in thoughts with Kaitlin. She was in his thoughts and he couldn't think of anything else besides her. His sister, he discovered her. Now he wants to take some DNA testing just to be sure but he knows and feels it in his bones that Kaitlin is his sister. He sat up on the bed and got off it making his way to his tiny office in his room. He transformed his closet into his-at-home investigation room. He lifts the sheet off the board and looks at the links. He won't stop at nothing to find out whether Thorne was or is involved in his sister's disappearance. He is not buying the Discovered Me and was a lovely narrative. He knew Thorne, he was not a person who had the heart or the decency to even assist a needy person unless he benefited. In other words. Thorne was a selfish creature!
“What is going on between you two?”, He was now going to have to probe their marriage.
Something wasn't right there and he felt it. Something doesn't add up and he needs the missing parts to put and make sense of all that is happening.
He takes out his phone and dials a number. It rings a few times before it gets answered.
“Hello”
“Hello, it's Jason Brown. I need to talk to Mrs Nathaniel ”, He felt a bitter taste left on his lips when he stated that.
“She is not home at the moment”, The assistant adds.
“Oh please. Inform her about my call”
“Will do so sir”, he hung up and cussed under his breath.
He needs to get answers soon and free Kaitlin from the brainwashed Marriage that she is in. She is 20 for heaven's sake! What does she know about love?! Is what his brain was telling him and he seemed to be convinced by what it was saying.
