The Queen

The Queen
Sera's POV

I touched my lips, still feeling his lips on them, the warmth of his tongue as he had licked them. They swell from his kisses, slick with saliva. And I licked it, tasting him once again.
The door jarred open, the hinges squealing. Cassian stood by the door, filling the whole of the doorframe with his huge body. His gaze fell on me eagerly, and his lips stretched in a warm smile.
It felt awkward trying to return his smile. He traced to before me before my facial muscles could even relax from the smile.
He grabbed my cheeks with his big hands, making my lips pout a bit, and he kissed me. His lips latched hard on mine—hungry and starved, like he had been waiting to do this all his life. He licked my lips, sucking them until they ached, creating room for his tongue to push deep into my mouth. Slick, but hungry, his tongue slapped against the walls of his mouth, licking me like I stashed a lifetime supply of sweets in my mouth.
I felt him everywhere, tasted him in every inch of my mouth. I had to pull back from his lips when I almost couldn't breathe again.
Hell. Why are the brothers so possessive? I wasn’t really wrong about not being an ordinary human. An ordinary human couldn't have survived those kisses. He’d almost kissed me to death.
But I chuckled as I turned to myself, gasping for breath. My palm on my chest to guide my breath, my nose rushing in the air.
I spied the mask of concern on his face, and I made him a smile to assure him I was okay.
He grinned, walking closer to me, his gait powerful as always. He brushed his thumb over his lips as he spoke. “You have to forgive me, Seralyn. I got carried away. You have no idea how hard I have missed you.”
“I think I do,” I forced a grin through my fight for breath.
His grin grew—wry, seductive, and dangerous. There was something to his smile that always highlighted his superb manly beauty and his powerful physique and also gave a good glimpse of his dangerousness. He was a seductive keg of gunpowder. A little friction and there is an explosion, and a little smile and a woman is soaking wet, like I was.
I rubbed my legs uncomfortably to hide that fact from him, my sex slimy under me.
I gained control of my breath, and I raised my head to him, looking straight into his icy blue orbs, almost the color of a frozen blue-watered lake. “So what now?” I asked.
He grabbed my waist and pulled me to him. “Now you meet your subordinates and subjects as my queen. They have to start paying respect to you as their queen,” he grinned.
“I am nobody’s queen yet, Cassian. Remember this is a temporary…” He didn't let me finish as he chased us from the room.
We landed in a large hall, like a cathedral, with round, sturdy pillars rising high to the ceiling. People—no, vampires, mostly males—filled everywhere. The mass stretched back to the end of the large hall.
He held me to his body in solemn declaration to his people that I was his.
Though they all showered me with smiles, giggling and mumbling cheers to us. But I could see through the mask they wore on their faces, through the facade of their pretentious happiness. I could even feel the silent, hateful stares. Their eyes burned through me, making my skin crawl.
I forced a smile too, turning to Cassian. He was grinning, his face alight with my smiles. He felt the tenseness in my body, and his brow lifted in question. “What is it, Seralyn?” He asked softly.
How could you be so fucking oblivious… I realized I was already frowning, my teeth clenching, and I faked a smile.
“Don't you think this is a bit too early, Cassian?” I told him. “I am not anyone’s queen, and I am not ready to be anyone's queen.” I murmured below the cheers and mummering from the crowd.
“You are my bride, Seralyn. So that makes you their queen,” he spoke, his voice loud, like he doesn't give a damn about anyone.
“But that doesn't mean they will accept me, Cassian. I am a hunter. They just won't accept…”
He pressed his thumb on my lips, silencing me. “They will, Seralyn. They have no choice but to accept you as their queen.” He said. “And look, they are happy about it.” He turned to the crowd again, smiling.
I looked once again at the half smiles, pretentious giggles, and half-hearted cheers. The scorn and hate brimming under their eyes, and I snorted, my lips curling in a sour grin. “They really do love me.” I murmured to myself.
Cassian dropped my waist and held my hand. He drew me forward, and he raised my hand up into the air. And he grinned once again as the fake cheers rose in power. How could you be so blinded to the pretense?
“Here is Seralyn, my bride,” he finally yelled into the crowd, his voice carrying over the whole hall, his eyes moving over their heads. “Your queen,” he screamed.
The cheers rose now in power, echoing massively along the stone walls. The whole hall vibrated, pulsing like the inside of a living organism.
Some stomped their feet into the ground too, making the ground vibrate—powerful and hard. A little more and we might have an earthquake on our hands.
I stared more at Cassian, studying the grin lighting up his face, the lovely spark in his eyes. Was he just so oblivious with the pretense? Somehow I felt he wasn't. He knew they hated me, but he wasn't giving them a choice.
He was giving them an option. Love me or be considered treasonous. And that was the best way to make them hate me more.
The cheering died, and his arm latched onto my waist again. I sighed with relief when we landed back in his bedroom. I would have given anything to be away from the crowd, away from the hate and fakery.
I brushed a lock of my dark hair from my eyes, and he smiled at me. “That is just a tiny fraction of your subjects, Seralyn. I have no doubts the rest would love you as their queen too.”
I faked a smile. I certainly have no doubts, either.
He leaned low to me, and his lips twitched wryly. I had barely caught the naughty spark in his eyes when he grabbed my thighs with one sudden jerk. He rode me fast to the nearest wall, and I thudded gently against it, pain radiating from my back, mixed with the pleasure of his warmth engulfing me. He planted a soft kiss on my neck. “Now, I will claim you again, Seralyn. I will worship your body as my queen, and you will worship mine as your king,” he breathed against my skin—warm and exciting, I giggled.
