Nyxoria grinned widely, quickly grabbing her quill and parchment. She wrote down a message and handed it to Dika.

"You finally came."

Dika read it and nodded, smiling back.

Nyxoria gestured to the bed with her hand and Daisy went over to sit on it.

Tharros, standing nearby, wasted no time. “Can you please check on her?” he asked, his tone laced with impatience.

He had barely slept after his bath last night, waking up early when Vyrelen informed him that Dika and the High Priestess had arrived. Without hesitation, he had gone to meet them, ushering them into his castle. He didn’t want to waste another second, Nyxoria had suffered long enough. If the priestess could truly heal her, then this would be the last time he would ever raise a hand against her.

“Don’t be in such a hurry, Emperor Tharros,” she said, stretching slightly. “I’m hungry. Have your staff prepare something for me. And make sure Mary, Nyxoria’s maid, doesn’t touch it. I don’t eat food from Vyr’s palace, let alone anything prepared by a servant who works there.”

Tharros nodded. “Understood, I will take care of it.”

“I will handle the errand, my Emperor,” Vyrelen offered, stepping forward and wanting to leave the chamber.

Tharros shook his head. “No. I’ll do it myself. After all, she’s here to heal my bride, the woman I hurt. Running this errand is the least I can do.”

Vyrelen gave a small nod of understanding and stepped back.

With that, Tharros turned and left the chamber.

Daisy exhaled and turned toward Dika and Vyrelen. “Can you two step outside? I need privacy to work on Nyxoria.”

Dika nodded her head. “Of course.”

She exited the room, Vyrelen following close behind.

As soon as the door clicked shut, Daisy turned to Nyxoria, her sharp gaze softening. “How are you?”

Nyxoria sighed. “I’m fine, Daisy, though I thought you wouldn’t come.”

“Why wouldn’t I?” Daisy arched her brow.

Nyxoria shrugged. “I thought you wouldn’t believe Dika when she told you I sent her.”

Daisy chuckled, shaking her head. "I knew she was coming and didn’t want her visit to be a waste of time, so I waited for her to arrive before leaving my home. Now, tell me, Nyxoria, why are you really doing this?"

Nyxoria smirked. "I thought you would already know."

"I do," Daisy said with a knowing look. "But I’d still like to hear it from your mouth."

"Nyxoria’s smirk widened. "I want to punish Tharros for what he did. He’s lucky he didn’t do it in front of people or my cousin, otherwise, I would have done much worse than this."

"Daisy grinned. "Then let’s make it more believable. When he comes in, chew this and start shaking, then spit it out." She handed Nyxoria a small, soft white piece of something that looked like chalk.

Nyxoria took it and tucked it to the side of her mouth with her tongue. "Thank you, Daisy."

Daisy gave a small nod.

Nyxoria’s expression turned serious. "I had a dream last night. In it, I saw a ruined palace with the skeleton of a woman seated on a throne. Do you know of any palace like that?"

Daisy frowned, shaking her head. "I don’t, but I can help you find it."

"Thank you."

"And speaking of helping," Daisy continued, "I now have a way to bring back your memories, it really was hard but I figured it out."

Nyxoria nearly jumped out of bed in excitement. "Really? You already found a solution?"

Daisy smiled. "Yes, that’s also one of the reasons I came here."

Nyxoria grabbed Daisy’s hands. "Thank you! I will give you anything you want if you can make me remember."

Daisy shook her head. "I don’t need anything, Nyxoria. I just want you to be happy."

Nyxoria pulled her into a tight hug before letting go. "What should I do? What’s the first step to getting my memories back?"

"Your sword holds the key, Nyxoria. I will use it to unlock your memories."

Nyxoria frowned slightly. "My sword isn’t here. After Tharros defeated me, he didn’t take it. It should still be at home. I will go and get it after our little act is over. I wanted to visit my uncle anyway."

Daisy nodded. "Good. Bring it to my home once you have it."

Before Nyxoria could respond, the door to the chamber swung open.

Tharros entered, followed by two female servants carrying trays.

"Sorry for the delay," he said as the servants placed the trays on the bed. "I had them make a quick meat broth, and I was there to oversee it."

"And Mary?" Daisy asked casually.

"I sent her to her room," Tharros replied without hesitation.

Daisy nodded in approval. With that, she and Nyxoria began eating, leaving some aside for Dika.

"Why are you following me?" Dika asked, turning around to see Vyrelen behind her. She had left the chamber where Nyxoria was and was taking a stroll around the castle. She found it irritating that the Nightweaver was trailing her.

"You are my wife by tradition, so I ought to be wherever you are," Vyrelen answered as if it was the most obvious thing.

"I don't need you following me. I can take care of myself, Vyrelen."

"Oh, you said my name," he said with a smile. "And I know you can take care of yourself. Just see me as having an upper hand, just in case."

"Even if there is a ‘just in case,’ you would be the last person I’d call for help," Dika snapped.

"Are you angry at me?" Vyrelen asked, still amused.

"Yes, I am angry! You could have told me about your stupid tradition yesterday, but no, you wanted my mother involved."

Vyrelen nodded. "Of course. I knew you would argue, and I was right."

"Right or not, I am not marrying you. And even if I did, because I know you will force and frustrate me, you will live your life while I live mine when we are living together."

"I don't get you."

"I mean, we don't love each other. So you can have your dream woman, and I will have my dream man while still married to each other."

Vyrelen narrowed his eyes at her, his jaw tightening. "You’re joking, right?"

Dika crossed her arms. "I’ve never been more serious in my life."

Vyrelen let out a short laugh, but there was no humor in it. "So, you’re saying we will be married, but you will be looking for another man in our marriage?"

"Exactly," Dika said, tilting her head at him. "And you can do the same. Go find your perfect woman, fall in love, do whatever you want. We don’t have to act like a real couple just because of some ridiculous Nightweaver tradition."

Vyrelen wasn’t pleased with what Dika said, and before he could stop himself, he did the only thing that came to his mind, he kissed her.
