Long-time Enemy

Long-time Enemy
Soon, the troops arrived at the barrier protecting the seven realms.

Vagamound waved his hand into the air, and a passageway appeared through the barrier.

The armies continued their march. When they were a kilometer away from the large army at the front, Vagamound lifted his hand, signaling to the commander behind him.

The commanders, receiving the order, roared to the men below. “Halt!”

The marching army immediately stopped on their tracks, arranging themselves in a neat formation.

The flying beasts above also descended to the ground, sending dust particles into the air as they landed.

Vagamound leaped down from his mount and gazed at the vast army before him.

As his eyes swept across the enemy troop, they landed on a middle-aged man standing at the front of the troops, who was seated astride on a fiery horse beast.

Next to the man were two beast-drawn carriages that were being protected by two men who were radiating terrifying pressure.

But to Vagamound, the men's aura was insignificant. His eyes immediately pierced through one of the carriages, and the familiar face he had been longing for appeared in his view.

Belia.

A gentle smile appeared on his lips, and he lifted his foot, walking forward.

The generals behind also jumped down from their mounts, ready to follow after him, but Vagamound immediately called them to a halt.

“Just stay behind. No one should follow me.” He ordered.

“But…” The generals appeared lost as they stared at Vagamound's departing figure.

They turned their gaze to Eason and the others, showing a confused expression.

“Just do as he commands.” It was Gia who spoke.

Receiving the order, the generals retreated to their mounts.

“Mom, can you please ask Dad to stop?” I peered out of the open window, talking to the carriage next to me.

“Be at ease, dear.” Mom's voice sounded assuring. “Your dad knows what he's doing. Didn't he promise that he wouldn't do anything reckless? So, trust your father.”

How can I be at ease when there are millions of soldiers around me ready to attack a city?

“But–” Before I could finish my words, I suddenly noticed a familiar figure walking from afar.

The moment our eyes met, the smile across that handsome face spread wider.

My lips subconsciously curled up, but when I recalled what was about to happen, the happiness in my eyes vanished, and I hurriedly hid back into the carriage.

I'm so sorry, Vagamound. I can't bear to look you in the eyes.

Outside, Amos pointed his finger in anger at the handsome man in front of him. “How dare you sleep with my daughter?”

Vagamound looked up at Amos, his lips rising when he saw the anger in the other party's eyes. “I apologize, father-in-law, but your pretty daughter and I are already married.”

“Father-in-law?” Amos felt his temple throb when he heard the young man's address. “When did I give you permission to call me that?”

“My apologies. However, your daughter had already conceived my child, making you my father-in-law.” Vagamound said.

“You…” Amos paused, knowing that what the latter had said was true.

He looked at Vagamound with a conflicted expression.

What to do when your long-time enemy has suddenly become your son-in-law.

When he first learned that Vagamound was the father of his daughter's unborn child, he was consumed by rage, wanting to raze the entire seven realms to the ground.

Had it not been for the promise he had made to his wife and daughter, there was no way such a peaceful conversation like this would have taken place.

“Good.” Amos knew when to retreat, especially when there were four eyes watching his every move from inside the carriages. “I never said I'm opposing your marriage to my daughter.”

“Really?” I lifted the curtain of the carriage and tipped my head out of the window, looking at my dad in surprise.

Vagamound's expression was also full of shock, as he didn't expect Amos to agree to their union easily.

Amos continued. “However, I want you to hold another wedding for my daughter. Make it a grand one, where every immortal across the continent will gather to witness the grand wedding of my daughter, Belia.”

“Expect it to be done right away, father-in-law.” Vagamound smiled.

“You are indeed worthy of being my son-in-law.” Amos burst into laughter, and Vagamound also joined in.

The war tension in the air immediately dispersed, and the armed soldiers on both sides stared at the two laughing figures, confusion in their eyes.

Can anybody tell them what's happening? Are they not here to fight?
