Chapter 19 Baemon child
Rosee’s car barely halted before he jumped out, slamming the door so hard the glass rattled. His heart was pounding fast, loud, angry. The closer he got to the penthouse, the more metallic the air smelled.
His boots crushed broken glass scattered all over the floor. His living room looked like a war zone from shattered vases, overturned chairs, claw marks on the wall, and the scent of magic lingering like smoke.
But nothing prepared him for the sight on the couch.
Noah lay weak and pale, a nurse pressing gauze to a deep slash on his arm while Lia stood beside them sobbing .
“Daddy!” she wailed and threw herself at him immediately she saw him.
Rosee caught her, but his gaze stayed fixed on Noah, jaw clenched so tightly his teeth creaked.
“What happened?” he demanded, voice low, lethal.
His butler, Precious hesitated, swallowing nervously. “Sir… we don’t know exactly. someone people broke in. They went straight for Miss Rain. The twins tried to hide but Noah was… attacked.”
Lia cried louder, gripping Rosee’s coat. “They came… they came from the shadows, daddy. They took Nanny Rain!”
Rosee’s hand trembled only for a second but he hid it behind Lia’s back.
“Where were you?” he asked Precious.
"I was at the other side of the house then I heard Lia loud scream, by the time I got here. It was a disaster."
A muscle ticked in Rosee’s jaw. He scanned the broken house, the creeping dark residue of magic.
Then something jolted through him.
The book.
His eyes widened.
“Fu-k!” he hissed under his breath, dropping Lia gently.
Without warning, he sprinted down the hall.
He stormed into his master bedroom, kicked the rug aside, and shoved the bookshelf. It slid back, revealing a hidden chamber.
Inside, a cramped room glowed faintly with enchanted light. Gold coins spilled from a chest. Ancient jewels lined the shelves. And at the very center, resting inside an old wooden pot, was a tattered, ancient book wrapped in black string.
Rosee exhaled feeling relief that the book wasn't taken.
He touched the old book gently, almost reverently before turning back and stepping out of the hidden room.
But the moment he exited the hallway, a cold shadow leaned against the front porch pillar.
Mykel.
Rosee’s eyes narrowed dangerously.
“What,” Rosee growled, “the hell are you doing at my bedroom?”
Mykel looked up lazily, as if he’d been waiting all along. “Checking if you’re still alive. You looked… rattled.”
Rosee lunged.
His hand slammed Mykel against the wall, forearm heavy on his throat.
“You think this is funny?” Rosee hissed.
“You show up right here after my house is attacked?”
Mykel didn’t flinch. His red eyes gleamed in amusement.
“If I attacked your house, dragon… you wouldn’t have one left.”
Rosee’s fingers tightened.
A low growl rumbled deep in his chest.
“You overestimate yourself, vampire King,” he spat the title coldly.
Mykel went still.
“How… do you know that?” he whispered, truly shocked for once.
Rosee scoffed. “I may have lost my powers, but I’m not blind.”
Mykel smirked again. “Clever boy.”
Rosee shoved him harder. “What do you want? And why the hell are you circling Rain like a parasite? Vampires are always up to no good.”
Mykel’s expression changed, subtle but sharp.
“I think you already know the answer,” he said quietly.
“I don’t,” Rosee snapped.
Mykel raised a brow. “Don’t play dumb.”
Rosee’s breath hitched. Something cold pricked behind his ribs.
“Don’t tell me…” Mykel murmured, amused. “You truly don’t know?”
Rosee didn’t answer, he looked confused as hell, Mykel let out a dark, cruel laugh.
“You’re pathetic,” he said. “Pretending you’re ahead of the game while you’re two steps behind.”
“Mykel,” Rosee warned, voice deadly. “Talk.”
The vampire leaned in, lips curling.
“She is the child of the Redmoon,” he whispered.
“Baemon’s daughter.”
Rosee froze.bHis heart dropped so violently he actually staggered backward.
“That’s impossible,” he breathed. “She’s just an ordinary...”
“Ordinary?” Mykel laughed, cold and sharp.
Rosee swallowed hard.
Deep down… he already knew she wasn't ordinary.
Her touch didn’t burn him, but it burned glass, metal, floors… everything else. No creature, no monster, no witch had ever been immune to that curse.
Except him.
Mykel watched Rosee’s expression twist and rolled his eyes.
“You poor idiot,” he said mockingly. “Tell me, did you even know she was born blind and she is betrothed to someone.”
Rosee glared at him.
“Oh,” Mykel smirked. “You didn’t know that either? What do you know about your nanny dragon?”
Rosee’s hands curled into fists.
Mykel continued, almost bored now.
“Do you even know she is the Alpha King’s illegitimate child? The one he tried to erase?”
Rosee’s pulse spiked.
“What?” he whispered.
“And do you know what everyone wants from her?” Mykel leaned close, whispering in Rosee’s ear.
“Her blood.”
Rosee’s eyes widened, horror ripping across his face.
Mykel’s grin widened.
“Though it's bitter now… but once she falls in love,” He traced a finger through the air.
“It'll turn sweet.”
Rosee grabbed Mykel’s collar and slammed him into the wall so hard the boards cracked.
“You already sucked her blood, you idiot!” Rosee roared.
Mykel burst into laughter, unbothered by the pain.
“Yes, I had a taste,” he said, licking a fang. “But only a sip. The real feast comes later. After she gives her heart away.”
Rosee’s nostrils flared.
Mykel tilted his head.
“Besides…” he smirked. “You want the same thing I want. Stop pretending innocence.”
Rosee’s grip tightened. His eyes were cold, deadly and calculating yet, for the first time…
A hint of fear flickered in them.
Fear for Rain and her blood that could start a war if truly she is Baemon child.
