Chapter 59 Kill Them All

Chapter 59 Kill Them All
Brea's POV

Rayne pulled me into his arms and held me tight. For a few seconds, everything felt okay. His shoulders trembled as he cried silently against my hair the first time I had ever seen him break like this.

Then he stiffened. He let go of me suddenly and doubled over, coughing violently. Bright red blood splattered across the white clinic sheets.

“Rayne!” I cried, grabbing his shoulders.

He tried to speak but another cough wracked him. More blood. His hands were shaking as he stared at the red on his palm like he didn’t understand what it was.

Elias rushed over, swearing under his breath.

“Shit... get him in the chair!” He shoved Rayne back into a seat and started scanning him. “His energy signature is almost gone. He’s crashing hard.”

Before focusing on Rayne, Elias had already run a quick diagnostic on me.

He’d been certain that with that much Sovereign energy pouring through my body, I must have “turned.” But the result was a clean negative.

I had no vampire traits at all. I was still 100% human. I was simply hosting Rayne’s power like a dormant battery the strength of a god inside me, but the body of a girl.

I was terrified. “What’s happening? Elias, talk to me!”

Elias didn’t look up from the scanner.

“He didn’t just save you, Brea. He emptied himself. He transferred almost all his Energy into you to pull your soul back. His body is reacting like a human’s now. Organs struggling. No supernatural buffer. He’s in shock.”

Rayne leaned forward, elbows on his knees, breathing hard. He looked up at me, trying to force a weak smile.

“Looks like… I’m the fragile one tonight,” he rasped.

The door burst open. Drake stormed in, bloodied and breathing hard, weapon still in his hand. He stopped dead when he saw Rayne holding me in his arms.

His face twisted with jealousy. “You’re really sitting here holding her?” he said, voice low and bitter. “After you put your hand through her chest?”

He took a step closer, shadows flickering around him, but then his eyes landed on the blood soaking Rayne’s back and the sheets.

“What the hell happened?” he asked. “She was barely breathing when I left. Now you look like hell and she’s awake. What did you do to her?”

Drake’s gaze shifted to me, his expression pained.

“And you…” He shook his head, voice cracking with frustration and hurt. “Why are you still talking to someone like him? After what he did to you?”

Before I could answer, the door opened again. Brandon stepped in, covered in dust but unharmed. The moment he saw me sitting up, alive, his face crumpled.

“Brea…” His voice broke. He crossed the room in a few quick steps and dropped to his knees beside the bed, grabbing my hand like he was afraid I would disappear.

It had been over a year since I last saw him—since the day they sold me to the Enclave. Tears flooded my eyes instantly.

“Brandon…” I choked out, pulling him into a tight hug. We both started crying, holding each other like we were afraid the other would vanish. “I thought I’d never see you again. I thought they’d…”

“I know,” he whispered, voice thick. “I know. I’m so sorry. I tried to find you. I tried everything.”

The room was heavy with silence as we held each other. Even Drake and Rayne stayed quiet for a moment.

Elias cleared his throat after a while.

“We don’t have much time,” he said gently. “The Queen has started her Purge. The fighting is getting worse. We need to move.”

Rayne tried to stand but his legs gave out again. Drake moved instinctively and caught him.

I stood up from the bed. My legs felt steady. Too steady.

“I’m not staying here,” I said.

“The Queen sent troops to level entire human cities. A lot of vampires are marching in. I won’t let my people die just like that.”

Elias looked at me sharply.

“Brea, you need to rest. Your body is still recovering…”

I felt it then—the energy Rayne had given me surging through my veins. My aura spiked hard, ten times stronger than before. The air around me shimmered with golden light.

I turned to Rayne, my voice soft but firm. “I’m sorry… I’ll be back. I promise.”

Before anyone could stop me, my power flared. The room blurred.

I disappeared. Rayne was quick. He tapped my shoulder at the last second and teleported with me.

We materialized at the city gate. Hundreds of vampires were lined up, helicopters hovering overhead, ground troops in full battle gear, fangs bared as they prepared to march into the human districts.

I stared in shock. Then a bright white light tore out from somewhere ahead.

It swept across the front lines like a scythe. Hundreds of vampires disintegrated in seconds, bodies turning to ash in the blinding flash.

I stumbled back, horrified. “That wasn’t me…” I whispered.

Rayne was squatting on the ground beside me, weak and breathing hard. The teleportation had taken everything he had left.

I dropped to my knees and helped him up, wrapping my arm around him. “You shouldn’t have come,” I said, voice shaking. “You’re too weak right now.”

Back in the clinic, Elias, Brandon, and Drake stood frozen, staring at the empty space where we had been.

Elias’s eyes were wide. “When did she get this kind of ability…?”
