Chapter 36 Control Is Everything
Brea's POV
I stood near the foot of the damaged bed, slowly pulling my top back down over my body, though it did little to hide the fresh bite marks on my shoulder and the swell of my breasts.
My hair was a wild mess, lips swollen, and I could still feel Rayne’s cum slowly dripping down my inner thigh.
Rayne remained a few feet away, shirt hanging open on his shoulders, with his pants fastened but low on his hips.
His eyes still carried that faint crimson glow, calm but possessive.
We hadn’t stepped out yet. Then, without any warning both doors clicked open at the exact same moment.
They simply swung inward on their own, as if the old house had decided to strip away every secret.
My door creaked wide open, revealing the corridor beyond.
Directly across the narrow hallway, the door to the adjacent room also swung open with a soft, deliberate click.
And there they were. Seraphine and Drake, caught completely exposed in the opposite doorway.
Seraphine stood frozen, her blouse crooked and barely buttoned, one shoulder fully exposed with a fresh reddish bite mark blooming on her collarbone.
Her hair was tangled and wild, cheeks flushed deep pink, lips kiss-swollen and red.
Her skirt was twisted high on her thighs, and I could see the unmistakable sheen of wetness glistening on her inner legs.
She looked thoroughly and utterly shocked.
Drake was right beside her, shirt completely gone, pants hanging low and unfastened on his hips.
Angry red scratch marks ran down his chest and back, his hair damp with sweat.
They had obviously just finished and now they were staring straight across the corridor into our room directly at Rayne’s scratched-up bare chest, at the bite marks covering my neck and shoulder, at my half-dressed state and the obvious evidence of what we had done.
For one long, suffocating second, no one moved.
Seraphine’s eyes widened in horror. She clutched desperately at her crooked blouse, trying to cover the red mark on her neck, but it was useless.
Her gaze darted from Rayne’s muscular, marked chest to me, taking in every visible sign of rough sex on my body.
I felt a slow, dangerous smile curve my lips.
“Well…” I said softly, my voice still husky from screaming Rayne’s name. “It seems the house wanted us all to see exactly what happened tonight.”
Rayne let out a low, dangerous chuckle beside me, his eyes narrowing at Drake. "Never expected this.."
Drake’s voice came out hoarse and broken, fists clenched at his sides. “You… and her? Right here?”
Seraphine’s cheeks burned crimson as she tried to straighten her skirt, but her legs still trembled slightly. “Drake and......”
“Well…” I said softly, my voice still husky from screaming Rayne’s name. “It seems the house wanted us all to see exactly what happened tonight.”
Rayne let out a low, dangerous chuckle beside me. “Never expected this.”
For one suffocating second, no one spoke.
Drake’s eyes stayed locked on me, ignoring the scratches on his own chest and the wetness still visible on Seraphine’s thighs.
His face darkened with the same raw jealousy I had seen before. “This doesn’t change anything,” he said, voice low and strained. “You’re still—”
Seraphine’s breath hitched. She stared at him, with disbelief, then slowly filled with tears.
After everything they had just shared, after giving herself to him completely, he was still looking at me and forgot about her. Her hands trembled as she tried to pull her blouse closed.
Without another word, she turned and ran down the corridor, sobs breaking free as she disappeared around the corner.
Rayne moved in super speed. One moment he was beside me, the next his hand was wrapped around Drake’s throat, pinning him hard against the wall.
“You will not hurt her,” Rayne said quietly, voice cold and absolute. “Seraphine is not something you discard the moment Brea is in front of you again.”
Drake gasped, clawing at Rayne’s wrist, but he couldn’t break the grip.
I stood watching, the thing inside me swelling with satisfaction. A slow, evil smile spread across my lips.
Everything was unfolding exactly as it should.
Rayne released Drake with a low growl of warning, shoving him back against the wall hard enough that the plaster cracked.
Drake coughed, rubbing his throat, eyes still burning with that stubborn mix of rage and hunger as they flicked toward me one last time.
But Rayne was already turning back to me, his red gaze softening just a fraction as he reached out to brush a strand of messy hair from my face.
Before he could say anything else, a sharp pain lanced through my skull.
I winced, pressing my fingers to my temples as voices..whispers at first, then clearer.
"Take him to the square. The unsealing begins tonight. He is the key. Bring the vampire."
The headache bloomed hotter, pounding behind my eyes. I swayed slightly, biting back a gasp.
Rayne noticed immediately, of course. His hand shot out to steady my elbow, brows drawing together in concern. “Brea?”
Drake stepped closer too, his voice rough but laced with genuine worry despite everything. “You alright?”
I forced a weak smile, blinking rapidly as the pain ebbed just enough for me to speak. “I’m alright,” I murmured, my voice steadier than I felt. “Just… a little dizzy. It’s nothing.”
The voices hissed again, insistent. "Now.. Make him follow."
I nodded faintly, then turned toward Rayne. My legs felt unsteady as I stepped closer, letting my body lean into him like I needed the support.
I wrapped my arms around his waist, pressing my cheek to his bare, scratched-up chest in what must have looked like a vulnerable, post-sex cuddle.
His arms came around me automatically, one hand stroking my back.
But inside, something darker uncoiled. My eyes blackened completely...pitch void swallowing the whites and irises,
“Follow me outside,” I whispered to him compelling him “You will come with me. No questions.”
Rayne’s body stiffened for half a second, then relaxed under the spell. Hiseyes glazed over slightly, the possessive glow dimming into obedient calm. He nodded once.
I pulled back just enough to look up at him, my eyes already returning to normal as I turned toward Drake, who was watching us with narrowed eyes.
“Rayne and I… we’re going for a stroll,” I said lightly, forcing a tired but affectionate smile. “Just to clear our heads. The night air might help.”
Drake’s jaw tightened. He glanced at Rayne’s now-pliant expression, then back to me.
“I’ll follow you. After all, I’m safer than a vampire. Why do you seem to trust him more than me, anyway?”
The voices surged again in my head, sharp and gleeful.
"Let him come. We will need enough blood for the opening seal. He will do nicely. Both of them… perfect sacrifices."
A slow, genuine smile curved my lips this time. I tilted my head, “You can come. The more the merrier, right?”
Drake looked momentarily surprised, but he nodded, grabbing his discarded shirt from the floor and shrugging it on roughly as we started moving.
We stepped out of the old house into the cool night air.
As we strolled toward the center square, I let my fingers trail casually along the iron railings and street fixtures we passed—old lampposts, metal benches bolted to the pavement, the occasional wrought-iron fence bordering the sidewalks.
Each touch sent a subtle pulse of magic from me into the metal. The iron hummed under my fingers as invisible threads of power snaked through the ground, weakening the ancient seal. The voices guided me: "More. Deeper. Break it open."
A car honked and swerved around us at the crosswalk. I kept walking, brushing every iron post and feeding the spell. Rayne followed like a silent shadow.
Drake walked right beside me, still upset. “Why him, Brea? You let him fuck you right after everything? Was it better than before?” Rayne smiled faintly, despite having no memory of their first time, and answered calmly, “It’s not our first time.”
We kept moving toward the center square, the fountain now visible ahead. From a rooftop across the street, Seraphine crouched in the shadows, watching us in raw jealousy. Then, as I turned to smile at Drake, my eyes flashed fully black—void and endless.
Seraphine gasped, hand flying to her mouth in shock.
"What the hell was happening to Brea?"
