Chapter 54 EXCUSES
Chapter 54 EXCUSES
MARCUS BLOOM
The call dropped.
Hmmm…..that wasn't nice. What does Lorenzo really know?
What does he mean by ‘he knows everything’?
“Did you tell Lorenzo anything?” I asked Duder who seemed uninterested in the call I just had all of a sudden.
“That was him, uhn? I told you, Captain. We really don't need to answer to him. He is not really fetching us anything. Sometimes, I wonder why you stick to him still..”
I knew Duder never liked him for anything but that wasn't a major concern. I needed to cover my tracks. Lorenzo can't know anything about my intentions till I am done achieving everything I hope to, with his help.
“Was he threatening you again?” Duder interrupted.
“He knows about where we are going right now. In fact, he had them eliminated and kept a few of the men at his place for us to question,” I explained.
“Hold on, what? How is that even possible? How could he possibly know about those men and about where we are going at the minute???”
“Shit….are we being monitored? Could it be that he has something on us?” Duder panicked.
I literally just thought about it. What if Lorenzo planted a bug on us or something??
I will be dammed! It silly means he knows about every single thing truly. But then, that just can't be possible. Lorenzo isn't so smart and conversant with technology. He couldn't have possibly done that.
I made him trust me well enough so nah, I disagree!
“It can't be, Duder. You know what? Just drive to his place. I nee to speak to Lorenzo.”
“I need you to be in your best behavior. No suspicious talks or moves. All of this could just be a trick to know if we truly work for him or Roberto,” I said to Duder whose face was already frowned out of frustration.
I knew how annoying it could be but I needed to clear Lorenzo's doubt or I would be in a bigger mess.
“Don’t fucking overreact, Duder. We can't afford to let him know anything he doesn't truly know,” I warned inna loud tone as we approach Lorenzo's gate.
There was something rather strange about the setting as we arrived. I knew virtually the faces at Lorenzo's but coming this time around, some things were not looking right.
Lorenzo had something close to what you would call a penthouse. What makes it odd is the paint color use on the building.
Which male, I mean grown ass male in his right senses would paint his house pink???
That was screaming ‘pussy ass boy’ in every tongue.
On the other hand, it was a marked out design and also an easy target. It was the center of the whole damn estate so you sure can never miss it.
It was as though he intentionally drew attention to himself but from my recent findings, it was done on purpose.
But that purpose exactly is what I am yet to figure out. It was a long game I want ready to play into.
My eyes were mainly on his huge little influence in the Mafia circle.
“These are no the same men from the previous week, Duder,” I muttered.
“What are you talking about?”
It was evident Duder didn't pay attention. Thee might have been some striking resemblance with some of them but I was damn sure there was something different about those guards.
It wasn't their uniform. Neither was it their rhyming haircuts, another hilarious thing about Lorenzo's circle.
“You don't see it, do you?” I said as we park in the space reserved for the visitors car right in the penthouse.
“Marcus, you speaking in parables. I can't decipher,” Duder responded.
There ws no point telling him. That might only get him agitated and overreactive, the exact emotions of his I am hoping to avoid.
I nudged.
“Its probably nothing. I guess my nervousness is just messing with me, you know,” I answered innocently.
“Nervousness?! From Marcus Bloom, never heard of that before,” he teased.
I smirked, “Don't test me. There is a lot at stake already. Just fucking behave!!” I answered angrily.
“You know what? I don't think I even want you in there with me. Stay in the goddamn car and if any of these guys come close, you tell them to back off. Do not come out of the car,” I ordered.
“But I thought…..” he wanted to speak but I walked out even before he could finish the sentence.
Thought, my ass! I ain't gonna allow him put me in trouble with Lorenzo.
The minute I stepped into his house, I was welcomed by some bitches in underwears, “Where is Lorenzo? I don't have the time,” I blurted.
“Marcus Bloom….Bloomy Bloom, my boy..you are finally here. I am not so surprised you are here early,” he said and laughed.
“I don't understand. What do you mean? I came here as soon as I could..”
“Oh yes, that's exactly what a man whonis trying to cover his tracks would possibly do or what do you think?”
At this point, I was stuck. It was either I fall for the trick if peradventure it was one or I keep mute and risk of being suspected.
Either ways, I was in a fucking corner with this sort of dialogue.
“What exactly is going on, Lorenzo? I don't even get you anymore,” I said out of pretence.
That was the only probable way of staying in the middle; sounding unsure and puzzled enough to give a definite answer.
“Come on, Marcus…..I think you should relax. Take one of the girls and have them relieve you, you need it…they are yours to have, boy,” he said.
Perhaps another one of his tricks, I thought.
“I'm good…We can talk,” I said in a sharp tone.
“Are you sure? My girls are pretty good, I can assure you that,” he added but I stood my ground still.
“Alright then….you see, this is one of the reason I like you. It's business or nothing….Lucky Roberto, having you in his gang,” he voiced out.
I still didn't say a word.
“What was the call about, Lorenzo? What do you mean ‘you know everything’? I'm realy not following,” I said in a defensive tone.
“I wasn't joking. I know everything….” He started.
I became tensed.
“How else do you think I got to know about the men who were coming to attack Roberto or your plan to go kill those men?”
“Do you really think I wouldn't put a spy out on my enemy?” He uttered.
