Chapter 51 50

Chapter 51 50
Soraya's POV

“Excuse me, miss,” one of the men said firmly, blocking my path. “Who are you?”

I froze for a second, before lifting my gaze to meet theirs. They were both tall, dressed in black uniforms, with earpieces and serious faces that made them look intimidating.

“Um… good morning,” I began carefully. “I’m Soraya. I came here to, uh, see Mr. Darius.”

The two men glanced at each other. The one on the right raised an eyebrow. “Mr. Darius? Our boss?”

“Uh… yes,” I said, nodding quickly.

The first guard sighed. “Miss, this is the headquarters of D.D. Enterprise. We don’t just let random people walk in. Everyone who enters needs a password or an ID badge. And we don’t recognize you.”

“Right, I understand,” I said, trying to stay calm. “I’m not a staff member or anything.”

The other one tilted his head slightly. “Then are you here on business? Maybe from another company?”

“No, not that either,” I replied, shaking my head. “I just came to give Mr. Darius his lunch.”

That made both men pause. Their eyes moved to the lunch box in my hand, then back at each other.

“The lunch box?” the first one repeated slowly.

“Yes,” I said, nodding. “He forgot to take his breakfast this morning, and his mom asked me to bring it to him.”

The other man crossed his arms. “His mom? And who exactly are you?”

“I…” I stammered, my mind searching for the right words. “I don’t work here, but I… um… I live with him.”

“You live with him?” one of them repeated, his brow furrowing.

“Yes,” I said, forcing a smile. “I’m his…uh…girlfriend.”

There was a brief silence. Then, one of them actually laughed.

“Right,” he said sarcastically. “And I’m the President.”

My cheeks burned. “I’m serious! Trust me, he knows me!”

The other one raised a hand. “Look, miss, we get people all the time trying to see the boss. You can’t just walk in here with a lunch box claiming to be his girlfriend.”

I clenched my jaw. “I’m not just claiming! He really forgot his lunch. We live together, for goodness’ sake!”

The first guard smirked. “Oh, yeah? What’s next? You’ll say you’re Jennifer Lopez?”

I exhaled sharply, trying not to snap at them. I could understand they were just doing their job but still, they were really getting on my nerves.

“Fine,” I said finally, stepping forward. “If you don’t believe me, let’s go in together. I’ll show you. You’ll see his reaction when he sees me.”

The guard stiffened, his expression turning serious again. “No, miss. We’re not letting you in. We’d get yelled at for letting a stranger into the boss’ office.”

“I’m not a stranger!” I blurted, my voice rising slightly. But they still didn’t budge.

I sighed, this was ridiculous. I just wanted to give him his food. I blinked at them, speechless. They think I’m lying?

“Are you even listening to yourself?” I said, a little louder this time. “I literally have his lunch with me. Why would I go through all this trouble just to—”

“Miss, we’ve heard that line before,” one of them interrupted, folding his arms. “You can’t fool us with that. Now, please leave before you cause a scene.”

I clenched my jaw. My hands were trembling slightly, from pure embarrassment. People were starting to glance our way as they walked past the front of the building. Perfect.

“Look, if you’ll just tell him Soraya is here, he’ll understand,” I insisted.

“Yeah, sure.” the other guard scoffed.

I glared at him. “Do you seriously think I’m making this up?”

“Fine, call him yourself then! You must have his number, right?”

That was when I realized I wasn't with my phone. “Uhm. I forgot my phone at home—”

One of them cut me off with a hand gesture. “Miss, you really should go before we call for backup.”

I stared at them, stunned. “Backup? Are you serious right now?”

“Dead serious.”

For a moment, I just stood there, frozen between wanting to cry and wanting to yell. Then I took a deep breath, forcing a smile. “Okay, fine. I’ll turn around and leave,” I said, pretending to give up.

“Yeah, leave,” one of them replied, folding his arms smugly.

I turned halfway, took a single step then screamed suddenly, “What is that!?” and pointed behind them.

“What—?”

Before they even looked, I dashed forward, slipping right between them. “Hey!” one of them shouted, but it was too late. I was already inside, my heart pounding like crazy.

I couldn’t help but grin a little as I ran across the marble floor. Ha! I did it. I actually did it. They’d just been too easy to distract.

But now that I was actually in here, it hit me that this might have been a terrible idea. The building was enormous with glass walls and shiny floors, people in suits everywhere. A few were already staring at me because, well, I was running like a maniac.

“Catch her!” one of the guards yelled behind me. “She’s an intruder, don’t let her see the boss!”

Oh, great. Now I was officially a criminal.

I rushed toward the escalator and hopped on, rushing up to the next floor. I had no idea where Darius’ office even was, but I had to find him before these men did. Maybe I could explain everything before they threw me out.

The beeping sound of an alarm started echoing around the hall, and I groaned.

“Why does this always happen to me?” I muttered under my breath as I kept running, holding the lunch box. My hair was a mess already.

Then, just as I turned a corner. POW. I ran straight into someone. My forehead hit someone’s chest.

“Ow!” I looked up, blinking in shock.

And then I froze. It was Darius.

He was standing right there, tall and composed in his dark suit, with a woman beside him, she looked like his assistant or something. His sharp brown eyes widened the moment he saw me.

“Soraya?” he said in disbelief.

Before I could say a word, the pounding of footsteps echoed again.

“There she is!” one of the guards shouted.

I quickly moved behind Darius, hiding behind his broad back.

The guards rushed up, panting. “Boss, we’re so sorry! This lady just came up to us saying she had to give you breakfast. She didn’t have an ID or anything, and when we refused to let her in, she tricked us and slipped past. Please, sir, we’ll remove her right away.”

One of them took a step forward.

“Don’t come closer,” Darius’ voice rang. His hand slid into his pocket, and the men froze instantly. “Don't touch her.”
