Chapter 138 – New Rules
Mark squealed as he was thrown into a filthy cell, and the door locked behind him. He turned around and yelled out, “You can’t do this to me; this is kidnapping."
Davey turned and snarled back, “Like when you took Cassidy without her consent and kept her captive.”
Mark pressed his lips into a thin line.
It hadn’t occurred to him the consequences that came from taking Cassidy, but the reality was slowly sinking in.
“Look, I’m sorry. It was the blonde’s idea; I was just her pawn in all this,” he exclaimed.
Zane moved close to the cell door and hovered over the sniveling human who called himself a man. “You are pathetic; we know all about your obsession with Cassidy. You are going to pay for the things you did to her.”
Mark slunk back into the corner of the cell to give himself some distance between himself and the monster at his cell door. He was still having a hard time coming to terms with the fact that there were people in the world who could shift into animals. He didn’t know whether he was going to live or die after they tortured him for what he’d done to Cassidy.
Mark was feeding into his rage and listening to whatever Hannah was telling him, making it sound like he was getting retribution for destroying his career and rejecting him for her rich boyfriend.
The fog that was clouding his judgment was starting to clear. His heart raced as he started breathing heavily. He was in a lot of trouble once the terrible men who were holding him hostage learned all the horrendous things he’d done to Cassidy. Mark slid down to the floor, brought his knees up to his chest, wrapped his arms around his knees, and buried his head. His time was limited, and he was not looking forward to what was coming to him.

Jacob shifted back into his human form once he came back to the pack house. He spent half the night going around to all the corners of his pack, making sure all his members were safe. He felt like an idiot for falling for Adrian’s manipulating tactics and forcing him to choose between his mate and his duties to his pack.
Raymond and Teddy shifted back into their human forms and met Jacob at the front of the house.
“Did you find anything?” He asked them.
Both shook their heads.
Jacob let out a menacing howl; he was angry and frustrated with how the night had gone and was in heavy need of his mate. He paced back and forth as he tried to cool his temper and collect his thoughts. He was tired of playing this game and abiding by Adrian’s rules on how things were going to go. Jacob needed to come up with a new change in tactics.
“I’m tired of Adrian always trying to get the upper hand in all this. This never-ending feud between our packs has to stop.” Jacob informed them.
“I’ve told you, we need a plan. We can’t go in there with no plan, thinking we are going to win. It doesn’t work that way.” Raymond explained.
An idea clicked in Jacob’s head. It was time to think like his enemy.
“Gather what remaining warriors we have that won’t weaken our defense while we are away. It’s time we pay Adrian’s pack a visit.” Jacob ordered as a devious smile crept across his face.
This time, he was going to bring the battle to Adrian; he wasn’t leaving until he had his mate in his arms and Adrian was beaten.

Adrian waited outside the small room as the pack doctor did a thorough examination of the young girl. The fact that she had no memory of his nemesis was music to his ears. What better way to weaken his enemy than to have his mate not know who he is or the fact that she had already learned and accepted he was a shifter wolf? All that time he had spent with her was gone.
Adrian couldn’t wait to start elaborating on some fabricated story to tell her in order to use her against his nemesis. It was almost too good to be true. He was going to have his revenge and break the almighty Jacob Sullivan. Adrian smiled as he rubbed his hands together. He just needed confirmation from the doctor that it was all true.
The pack doctor opened the door and stepped out of the room before closing it gently behind him.
“So doc, what’s the diagnosis?” Adrian asked with anticipation.
The doctor looked at him with a lifted brow as he scratched the side of his beard. “I won’t know completely until the blood tests come back with what kind of drugs they used on her. She has suffered quite a few blows to the head and body. If I had to diagnose her at this moment, I would say she has Dissociative Amnesia. She is experiencing this type of Amnesia due to a traumatizing event, and her brain is trying to protect her from the trauma,” he explained.
Adrian’s eyes lit up as he listened to what the doctor was telling him. Everything that had happened to this girl for the last couple of months had become so traumatic that her brain was forcing her to block out those memories. Adrian looked up at the ceiling and thanked the moon goddess for this monstrous win.
He was going to get Cassidy cleaned up and take her out for a test drive to see what the girl would do when she saw his arch-nemesis.
First Warrior: Alpha, there’s been an infiltration on the northern border of the pack.
Adrian heard through his mind link.
Second Warrior: Alpha, there’s been an attack on the southern border of the pack.
Adrian’s brows furrowed when he heard the second alert.
Third Warrior: Alpha, there’s an ambush on the eastern border of the pack.
Adrian’s head was spinning, he hadn’t been able to get a response out to the first warrior. It seemed they were being attacked from all sides.
Adrian smirked when he realized what was happening.
“Well played, Mr. Sullivan. But by the end, I will be the one having the last laugh.”
