Chapter Seventy-seven: Home For Days

We spend several days at home working on Elena's abilities. Our father was a warlock for sure or at least a being similar. There's no doubt. I suspect he was vampire too because she just adapted too quickly according to Vlad. So our father might have been some weird hybrid who was hunted or disappeared to avoid extinction. Vlad told me more about Elena that she had the power and abilities of an elder vampire in under a year after she was turned. He said the power and control that she possessed only came with the years, but hers was near instant. This would explain the vampiric abilities that I have even though I'm not a vampire. We got these abilities or at least the ability to harness them from our father.

Now my mother remains a mystery. Her being just a shifter doesn't make sense anymore as my powers continue to grow. I'm just lounging outside enjoying

the sunlight on my skin. Lost in thought, I quickly snap out of it when I realize I'm not alone. I look around and see a cat

approaching. I just smile. Vincent will kill me if I adopt a stray, but it's a beautiful cat.

The cat is black and sleek without any fur and has the most beautiful blue eyes that I have seen except for my mates. It sits on the deck and looks at me with these soulful eyes. There's something human about this cat. So I decide to talk to it as I would any animal, “Hello lovely girl. Are you lost?”

To my surprise the cat speaks back, “No I don't think I'm lost. I think I found who I've been seeking for a very long time.”

I don't feel threatened so I introduce myself, “I am Eva. You're not a cat!”

The cat curls its lips and grins, “Morgan LaFae. I'm a witch, except…” She raises up her paws.

“You're cursed!”

Morgan nods solemnly, “I am.”

“Tell me your story!” I ask because I feel curious as I'm pulled to her more and more. I feel tethered to her somehow like I am bound.

Morgan says, “I'm over a thousand years old, but have been a cat for a thousand years give or take a few decades.”

I cock my head, “The time of the White Wolf.”

Morgan sighs, “Yes, she was a friend and I loved her. My coven was torn in two. Some helped her and others my ex, Raven Lavoux who was a witch that became a vampire. She aligned with a vampire who sought supreme power.”

“To destroy humans and our world.”

Morgan smiles, “Yes, you know the story.”

I sigh, “More than know the story. I am a version of it,” I say as I shift to my wolf form.

She jumps on me playfully and licks me. It tickles so I toss her off. I shift back.

Morgan’s eyes widened, “How? She didn't have children before she died.”

I shrug, “Not sure but I'm here to succeed where she failed. I will end the threat once and for all and I won't perish doing it!”

Morgan asks, “How are you so sure?”

I smirk, “She was just a brave and talented witch who was a wolf. I'm far more.” I port and then show my vampiric speed. Then I cut my wrist and she watched it heal instantly.

Morgan exclaims, “Oh my!”

“What am I?”

Morgan looks at me for a minute before she nods, “You're a goddess for certain. You possess darkness and light simultaneously. You can free me if you desire to as well.”

“As soon as we figure out how I will reverse your curse. There's something I should tell you first, though.”

Morgan nods, “Okay.”

“I have four mates.”

Morgan asks, “Are you certain and not spelled?”

“Yes, I am certain because I've changed them.”

Morgan asks, “How?”

“First, three of them are vampires and one is a wolf.”

Morgan cocks her head, “Well that's odd.”

“They have their moments. But I know that I have changed them because my wolf mate flies. They've all gained abilities.”

Morgan nods, “They've become gods but I think you know that.”

“I do, but how?”

Morgan grins, “Nature finds a way always, Eva!”

Vlad comes outside, “Who are you talking to?” Then he sees it and laughs, “Oh, my brother isn't going to be happy!”

Morgan stands and swishes her tail, “Well if it isn't Vlad Tempes.”

Vlad glares at me, “Stop playing Eva!”

“Oh I'm not!”

Morgan narrows her eyes at him, “I talk you arrogant prick!”

He growls and I smack his chest, “You try to burn her and I'll make sure you sleep outside!”

Morgan looks at me, “Surely he's not one of the mates you spoke of. He's incapable of love. Dracula only has ever loved himself.”

Vlad glares at her as he pulls me close, “Cat shows what little you know!” He kisses me and his eyes flash.

Morgan yells, “Well, I'll be damned!”

I giggle as I snuggle into Vlad, “Aren't you already, Morgan!”

Morgan swats me with her tail, “Hush you!”

I pick her up and put her eye level with Vlad, “Introduce yourself.”

Morgan says, “I am Morgan LaFae.”

Vlad shakes his head, “She's dead.”

Morgan glares at him, “I assure you I'm not! Neither is Raven!”

Vlad runs his hand over his face, “Well shit!”

“But Raven will die. Because I will kill her!” I say with newfound certainty.

Morgan smiles, “And you can. After all, you made the world's cruelest man a god.”

I grin, “I'm worse if you cross me!”

Vlad chuckled, “She killed vampires when she thought she was human too.”

Morgan purrs, “Well looks like I'm finally home!”
