I say, “Vlad try to fight it. It's good to know your limits. Plus I'd prefer to not have to explain more to Elena than necessary.”
Vincent responds, “Love when you free her, she'll know you're extraordinary. She will understand.”
I know that he's right and trying to ease my worry, but I just can't help feeling like I'm intruding, “Still I'm not a home wrecker and I don't want to be. I'm not a man stealer!”
Eric places his hand on my shoulder, “She will see reason. She's been a vampire long enough to understand that some find mates.”
“We can't be sure. We also don't know the hell she's been through,” I tell them.
Sam hugs me, “Her loss if she can't see what a compassionate person you are.”
Vincent kisses me, “You're amazing Eva even before your recent evolution.”
Eric nods as he kisses my cheek, “l agree. I sought you out when I thought you were human.”
“You were the most attractive woman in the room that night. I chose to approach you. Not until we locked eyes did I feel how deep the connection was and I didn't know that you were Midnight Rose, who I felt a connection to from her words,” Vincent explains.
Sam nods, “We all had the deep connection before the Haze. The Haze just makes it a fun challenge.”
Eva sarcastically say, “The full moon Haze is fun for you. Apparently I blackout and write vampire porn.”
Vincent smirks, “There is that!”
We share a laugh as Eric says, “Perhaps no articles during the full moon from now on.”
I grin, “I can swing that, but I have to write during the Haze because I can't take months off.”
Sam reassures me, “You'll get used to the normal Haze.”
I sass him, “Sure big man. Bear inond that the full moon wasn't in play when you broke down that door, so the normal Hazs got you!”
Vincent chuckles, “She's got you there. You're the one that stayed away for on business so you can only blame yourself.”
Sam smirks at Vincent, “Like you didn't go overboard!”
Vincent defends himself, “Vampires don't Haze, this has one hell of a learning curve,” he looks at Vlad, “Brother you don't look so hot.”
Vlad shakes his head as he rubs his sides, “Why? Why does it feel like every cell in my body wants to explode?”
Eric responds, “It's the pull.”
Vincent clarifies, “The Haze invades every part of your body until it has a mind of its own. The full moon Haze is irresistible. The normal seasonal Haze, like you have now, can be resisted for a while. The average mate Haze is the easiest to resist, as it is the time between the seasonal Hazes.”
Exasperated, Vlad says, “Why the fuck do you wolves need something like this to make you want to fuck?”
Sam explains, “Some animals need that, well most do, but humans don't. You vamps are just enhanced humans. Some of the wolves,like me, are born both human and wolf.”
Vlad asks, “So Eva's?”
Sam responds, “Part true wolf, yes why when she shifts her clothing is restored, at least we think that's why.”
Vlad asks Sam, “Is that why her blood tastes as it does?”
Sam shakes his head, “No, it's like no wolf's either.”
Vlad inquires, “Why all of us?”
I shrug, “Wish I knew. Just as I wish an unfriend button existed.”
Eric glares at me before addressing our group, “I'm sure it will make sense once we know what she's the goddess of and what we are up against.”
I sigh, “I guess we are bound for an eternity whether we like it or not.”
Just then Vlad interrupts, “Am I supposed to sense the creatures outside?”
“What?” I ask in shock.
Vlad explains, “I can feel their energy and tell what they are and their mood.”
“Fuck!” I exclaim.
Eric gloats, “See told you!”
I try to convince myself, “So that's a new one for him and it looks like his previous ones have been enhanced too.”
Eric nods, “Appears so.”
I sigh and roll my eyes as Eric reiterates, “There's no unfriend button and you can't make one because I know you've tried!”
I shrug, “I wanted simple. My career, friends, and eventually a guy that wasn't an asshole and possibly a kid years later.”
Vincent laughs, “Love you know that last bit is a pipe dream unless you wanted a boring life with someone who never challenged you, teased you, or truly tested you.”
I say, “The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched. They must be felt with the heart and your very soul. Love is that eternal beauty that you don't truly know, understand, or appreciate it until you feel it with your very being. It seeps into every cell for all eternity.”
Vincent hums as he smiles, “And I'm going to make that into a song!”
Vlad asks him, “How can you be so casual around her?”
Vincent replies, “Well I had my fun before the Haze took over. Then well if we aren't in public we just give in to it. You caught the end.”
I blush as Sam chuckles and says, “And her cheeks still turn as red as an apple too.”
I shake my head as I look at the floor, “I still worry.”
Vincent lifts my chin, “You shouldn't. I will NEVER get bored! I love you Haze or no Haze!”
Then he kisses me passionately. Sparks fly literally as it is like we glow with the intensity of a star ready to go supernova.”
Vlad exclaims, “Wow!”
Eric smiles as he nods, “Yeah because of her we are far more than we ever were!“
As Vincent and I pull away from our kids, he says, “See nothing has changed or will. I love you Eva!”
I smile, “I love you too.”
Vlad asks, “Aren't you both concerned that your enemies will use you against each other?”
I shrug, “I have no enemies because none know of my true power, hell I don't either. If any try, they will fail and burn!”
“l'd die for her, if I could,” Vincent says confidently.
I smile as Vlad asks him, “What do you mean? Vampires die, brother!”
Vincent says, “But gods don't!”
I caress his cheek as he continues, “I wasn't joking about spending an eternity with Eva.”
Vlad exclaims, “Her blood!”
Eric nods, “We suspect so or it could just be a perk of being her mate.”
I tell Vlad, “Why we need your archives.”
Vlad says, “I'll help, but do something about this Haze thing!”
I defeatedly shake my head, “We can't stop it. You have only one choice, which is to find a release.”
I know it's hard for him and it is me too, but we can't give in just yet.
