***Raven’s POV***
I am pouring through spellbook after spellbook looking for anything that can aid me. I even went through a few grimoires that I had acquired from covens that I have obliterated too. I can't even summon the fucking demon that I have a contract with. I had to settle for a lesser demon because I needed my soul.
It is getting close to moonrise, so I won't stop trying. This moon aids all witches thus strengthening my dark magic. Why? Why is it failing me now, now that I am so close to my goals? I slam the twelfth book that I have gone through closed and slam it on the table. The wind from it causes my candles to flicker. I am tired of hiding out like a damn sewer rat!
I need a boost. I use my hidden passage to access the cave where I am storing immortals that I plan to drain not just of their blood but of their souls. I have a few gnomes that I managed to save just for this occasion too. Draining beings who possess some light fuel the darkness and there's something so satisfying about it too. I immensely enjoy watching life leave their eyes just before I suck out their souls. The more pure the being, the bigger the boost and accompanying rush too.
I look around at my diminishing collection. Their magic-dampening collars are still in place at least. They
can't escape and there's no chance of rescue either. I open the small cell and grab a gnome. I go and stand in front of the remaining gnome. I intend to stare at him while I drain his mate. I want to see his anguish.
As I am about to sink my fangs into the pathetic little gnome's neck, the ground shakes as any flame in sight roars to life. The cave heats as the flames grow to lick the ceiling. I hear a click which makes me turn. The male gnome is out of his cell and his collar lies in tatters on the dirt floor.
“No!” I scream as I snap my head to look at the one in my hand only to see her vanish leaving just bits of her collar as the other beings scream chants of joy. What in the hell just happened? Their jubilation is sickening. I pace trying to formulate a plan. I need to trace whatever allowed the gnomes to escape and more importantly, I need to find them before they can reveal my hideout.
I grab a werewolf that is restricted to his human form. He's unmated so I hoped he would be pure, but he's not. However, his blood will satisfy my thirst. I opened his cell. I don't bother removing his restraints or his collar. I sink my fangs into his neck and drain every last drop. I wave my hand removing his restraints but I leave the collar on. I place his body in the middle of the floor for all to see and serve as a reminder of their fate.
***End POV***
Brandon says, “Thank you for this.”
I look at my mates before I approach Brandon. I use my thumb to wipe his tears, “We all have good in us. Let it win and the light shine.”
Brandon says, “I don't just see that now but I know and feel it too,” He looks around, “I know what you all are too.”
“And what's that?”
Brandon explains, “Demiurges that have been here since Earth's creation.”
I smile and give him a wink, “Try creation itself. My father is Mormo and my mother was Inanna. Which makes me creation now. Me along with Cassius and Elena are the triad of fate. We are here to restore what was lost and reinforce the Balance.”
Brandon says, “You all are the prophecy that the one that surrounded The White Wolf was based on.”
I put my hand on my stomach and looked at Morgan. “And she will be restored too.”
Brandon gasps, “You're pregnant!”
He must have just realized that. I know that we mentioned it fleetingly earlier and he no doubt missed it, but now there is no reason to keep it hidden from any of those who will die to protect us. My mates come and kiss my cheeks. They each rest a hand on my stomach.
Sam grins, “We all are going to be fathers. My Guinevere wishes to thank all who once aided her and now aid us.”
Just then, cupcake flies into the kitchen because she smells food. Morgan jumped from the counter.
“Morgan, no!” Here we go again.
