Reconciliation?

Reconciliation?

Thalia's POV

I took a seat beside Jax, the atmosphere grew thick with silence until Mr. Richard spoke.

“I think you know what this is all about?” he asked gently, making me stare at his face again.

I frowned because I couldn't be so sure. “I have explained everything to your mother.” He said as he glanced at my mother.

My eyes widened instantly, “everything how?” I asked with a confused voice.

I still don't know what he meant by everything. Was it that he told her about my contamination or that I was going out with my brothers?

“Everything she was meant to know,” Mr. Richard said. I looked at him before shifting my gaze to the boys, they all just stayed mute. Wait, were they aware of this too?

Looking at everyone except my mother, I folded my hands. Fine I would just listen to them.

“Honey, is it true you're no longer a h..human?” my mother asked with a cracked voice.

I rubbed my temples as I rested my face on my hand. “Yes,” I said indifferently, and I saw her move instantly to where I was.

She pulled me into a hug, and she burst into tears.

My body stiffened immediately, I knew she had hurt me but seeing my mother who had never for once cried, shedding tears for the first time made me feel some kind of way I couldn't explain.

“I failed you. I'm a bad mother. How did I let such a thing happen to my baby?” she lamented as her body shook.

I raised my hand as I tried to pat her back but stopped midway when I felt her tighten the hug almost to the point of suffocation.

I coughed, “Can you please let me go? You're su..suffocating me,” I said in a low muffled voice.

She pulled away quickly, “I’m sorry,” she said.

Then she squatted in front of me, placing her hand on mine. “I’m so sorry, Thalia. Would you forgive Momma?” she said in a low voice.

I stared into her eyes, and I could swore I saw hurt in her eyes. And even though I'm having mixed feelings right now, I don't think a single apology would fix or make me forget what she had done.

I removed her hand from mine. “It’s not that simple, Mom,” I said as I stared at her with a soft glance.

“Sometimes saying sorry and crying is not enough, also you and I knew you were here because you heard something bad, not because you wanted to be here,” I said in a firm voice, I saw her mouth hung open staring at me.

I don't mean to hurt her, but I'm tired of holding onto her when I knew she wasn't going to do the same.

I saw her shake her head, “No, honey, I'm here for you,” she said with a serious gaze.

I smiled. “Don’t push it, Mom,” I whispered as I stood, making her also stand staring at me.

I really didn't want us to be on bad terms, however her telling me she was here for me made me feel knots in my belly.

Because every time she said those words to me she will end up going back on them and that act alone had made the trust I had in her dead.

“But I meant it this time,” she said again, making me place my hand on my face.

“I’m not doing this, Mom,” I whispered before walking out of the living room.

Going into my room, I slammed the door shut and climbed my bed.

Staring at the ceiling. My thoughts drifted to when I was a child and how many times I had cried myself to sleep because of her or when I was alone standing at the corner watching other children and their parents having fun.

Suddenly, I heard a knock on the door cutting my train of thought. I sighed as I walked to the door.

Immediately I opened the door, Jax stood with a smile on his face.

“Hi,” he whispered as he waved with one hand while the other held his stomach.

“Hey,” I whispered with wide eyes as I opened the door wider for him to come in.

“What brings you here?” I said as I led him to the couch in my room.

He sat gently. I saw how calm his gaze was. “Are you still mad?” he asked as he patted the space for me to sit beside him.

I sighed before walking toward him. “I’m not mad, just tired of everything,” I said with a slumped shoulder.

“Let’s forget about her. Are you okay?” I asked, staring at him, then my gaze shifted to his hand holding his stomach.

He smiled. “I’m fine. I would probably be fully healed before tomorrow,” he said in a low voice.

I smiled before scratching the back of my neck, “Can I see?” I asked in a low voice.

My face was probably red right now, but I really wanted to see if he was truly healing.

His eyes widened as he pointed at his stomach. “You want to see?” he asked.

I nodded at him as I walked and sat beside him, he slowly pulled his shirt up revealing his tummy.

I bent, looking at his belly, there was a part stitched at the side of his stomach very close to his ribs.

My throat went dry as I tried to touch it, immediately my hand touched the stitch. Jax winced a little, making me stare at his face.

I was about to ask if it hurts but words died on my tongue when I realized he happened to be staring at me, lord those eyes, why were they so seductive right now.

Moving lower till my eyes settled on his lips, with all sense of reasons leaving my body, I moved close to his lips.

Suddenly, I heard a low knock on my door. Our gaze shifted to the door instantly.

I cleared my throat as I stood, “I will go get the door,” I whispered as I turned. Shit, how could I be fantasizing about a sick man?

When I got to the door, I opened it, and there stood Father with a smile on his face.

“May I come in?” he asked in a low voice, staring at me.

“Oh, yes you can,” I said as I rubbed my hand and stepped aside so he could come in. I closed the door behind me.

I saw Father pause, well I knew it was probably because he saw Jax here.

“You’re here,” Father said, then his gaze darted from him to me.

I swallowed, “I came to see Thalia,” Jax said as he walked to where I was standing.

“I will see you later,” he said. Then he did the most outrageous thing ever, he bent and pecked my lips in front of Father before fleeing the room.

My body froze, I watched Father clear his throat before taking a seat on the couch.

I rubbed my sweaty palms together, then I took a shaky breath before going to sit across from him.

He cleared his throat again before focusing on me, his expression turned serious.

“I’m here concerning your mother and other things,” he said slowly, making me clench my fist.

My heart skipped, my mother was understandable, but other things, what did other things mean?

Then he added, “I know your mom wasn't always available but one thing I also know is that she loved you so much, so much that she could lay her life for you,” Mr. Richard paused, staring at me.

I sighed, as I hung my head low I really didn't want to have this conversation, however his next statement grasped my attention.

“Your mother and I are filing for divorce,” he blurted, making me gasp, my hand fleeing to my mouth.

“What? I mean, why?” I asked louder than intended. Why would they want a divorce I mean, they suited each other, or did they not?

He smiled. “We discovered a new path, but as for your mother she had quit her job because she finally realized she wants to be there for you,” he said, still staring at me.

My fingers dug into my palm. Listening to him, “I’m not asking you to forgive her. I just felt like you should know about this,” he said in a calm voice.

I sighed, staring at my hand, “I will put this information in mind,” I said with a small smile.

He nodded, “Also the boys,” he paused. My heart skipped as I raised my head and looked at him.

“I give you guys my blessings,” he said in a gentle voice followed by a smile.

My mood changed instantly, that I could hear my heart racing so fast that I felt like it was about to jump out of my chest.

“Father...” I said in a low voice, my eyes getting watery. I stood as I walked to where he was.

He placed his hand on mine, “You made me see the other side of my sons, and I could say for sure no one would ever complete them as you,” he said.

Immediately, I hugged him. Tears slipped out of my eyes. I didn't know he would accept us. I am so happy right now.

I felt him pat my back gently. Then I pulled away, staring at his face. “Thank you for accepting us,” I said with a wide smile.

I saw him nod with a smile. Then he stood about to leave. Suddenly, he halted as he turned toward me.

“One more thing. Celine and the Council wanted to get your approval for the ritual and rite this coming Saturday. Are you okay with that?” he asked, staring at me.

My eyes widened as words died on my tongue. “If it is not fine with you, I could talk to them to postpone it,” he offered.

I shook my head at him, “I’m fine with it, Dad,” I said, making him nod before walking out.

Immediately he left, I placed my hand on my racing heart. I wanted to scream. Were the boys aware their father had accepted this relationship?

My thoughts drifted back to the ritual and rites. I exhaled.
“You can do this,” I encouraged myself. And deep within, I was glad I could do something to save my babies. Wait… when did I start calling them my babies?
