Chapter Two Hundred And Two

Chapter Two Hundred and One

The morning light slipped gently through the curtains. Tia opened her eyes slowly, her heart skipping when she realized Adam’s arm was around her waist. For a few seconds, she didn’t move.

He was asleep right beside her, his face calm, his breath steady against her shoulder.

She stared at him — her husband, the man who had once made her feel everything she thought she’d forgotten.

Her heart began to race. Carefully, she lifted his hand off her waist and sat up, covering her face with both palms.

“Oh my God…” she whispered, half laughing, half panicking. “What did I do?”

Her face was red. She peeked at him again — he looked peaceful, unaware, like nothing happened.

“He’ll never let me live this down,” she muttered, shaking her head.

Without another word, she got out of bed, fixed her hair quickly, and tiptoed out of the room.

She went straight to Andy’s room. Her heart was still racing, her face still warm. She tried to distract herself by packing Andy’s bag for school.

She helped him dress up, brushed his hair, tied his shoelace.

“Mummy, you’re smiling too much,” Andy said, tilting his head.

Tia froze. “Am I?” she asked quickly, pretending to focus on his shirt buttons.

Andy nodded. “You look like you just did something funny.”

She laughed awkwardly, “Just get your bag, silly boy.”

By the time Adam came downstairs, Tia was already at the dining table pretending to be busy with Andy’s breakfast. She didn’t even look up when she heard his footsteps.

Good morning,” he said, his voice low and tender.

The blush on his face wasn’t just from last night it was from hope. Hope that maybe, just maybe, this was the start of something real.

“Morning,” she said quickly, focusing on the toast in front of her.

He sat down, looking calm. But his eyes kept going to her face every few seconds.

She could feel it. Every time he looked, her stomach twisted.

Andy, chewing his cereal, suddenly said, “Daddy, you look happy today.”

Adam smiled. “Do I?”

“Uh-huh. You look like you saw a rainbow in your sleep.”

Tia nearly choked on her tea.

Adam chuckled, taking a sip of his coffee. “Maybe I did.”

She gave him a sharp look, and he just smiled wider.

Andy didn’t notice the tension. He kept talking, laughing, eating — while Tia tried to stay normal. But inside, she couldn’t stop remembering the way Adam held her last night, how warm it felt, how safe she’d felt in his arms.

When Andy finally left for school, silence filled the house.

Tia started picking up plates from the table. Adam stood there, watching her quietly. The air between them felt strange — heavy but soft at the same time.

He finally spoke. “About last night…”He walked up to her placed his hands around her waist.

Tia turned quickly. “It was a mistake,” she said before he could continue. “Let’s just forget it, please.”She said shifting.

He stared at her for a moment, his jaw tightening slightly. “If that’s what you want,” he said quietly.

She nodded, though her voice trembled a little. “Yes. It’s better that way.”

He grabbed his car key and briefcase, walked toward the door. For a second, he stopped — like he wanted to say something. But he didn’t. He just looked at her once more, then walked out.

The door closed behind him, and Tia stood there in silence.

Her eyes slowly dropped to the floor, then to her hands. She could still feel his touch from last night — his arm, his breath, his voice.

She sat on the couch, staring blankly ahead.

Her fingers touched her lips gently, and she whispered, “Why does it hurt when he walks away?”

Tears filled her eyes. She knew deep down, no matter what she said, she still loved him.

That evening, she decided to stop pretending.

She went upstairs and walked into his room. She hadn't stepped in to his room before, today was her first time.

She looked around — the faint smell of his cologne, the scattered files, his half-folded shirt on the chair.

Tia took a deep breath and smiled weakly.

She started cleaning up. Arranged the pillows neatly, spread fresh bedsheets, placed flowers by the bedside. The room slowly began to look warm again.

On the bed, she placed a small card that read:
“I’m sorry, Mr. Black.”

It wasn’t fancy — just simple words from her heart.

Then she stood by the window, wearing a lingerie

She waited quietly, her heart racing like never before.

When Adam finally came home, the house was calm.

He walked up the stairs slowly, tired from work, loosening his tie. As he opened his door, he stopped right there.

He blinked, surprised.

The room was different — soft, warm, peaceful. His eyes landed on the bed first, on the little note that said I’m sorry, Mr. Black.

Then he saw her.

Tia stood there, her hands folded nervously, her eyes unsure but soft.

“I was waiting all night long,” she said quietly. “I just wanted to apologize for what happened earlier.”

For a moment, he said nothing. He just looked at her — really looked.

Then his lips curved slowly. “Come here,
” he said in that low voice.

Tia hesitated, but when he opened his arms wide and said, “Come to Daddy, baby,” she couldn’t hold it anymore.

She walked straight to him and wrapped her arms around his neck.

He held her tight, like he’d been waiting for that moment forever.
