Chapter 26
"If you had aborted that child, we wouldn't have had a problem!" he said emphatically.
I couldn't stop myself from slapping him. I did a hard slap so he grabbed his cheek. He was about to hit me but suddenly there was a knock on the door so he stopped.
"Idiot!" he shouted.
He adjusted the collar of his long sleeve and opened the bedroom door. His parents appeared in front of us. They were both smiling and I also smiled at them. I approached and gave respected in front of them.
“Can we see our granddaughter? After a long day of work I want to relieve my stress," his father said with a smile.
"Of course, dad. Come in," I replied with a smile.
When they entered the room, they immediately approached baby Yumi. Their faces showed joy of seeing their granddaughter, especially his father.
"You really are an inheritance from your father. You took a picture of his appearance when he was young," Ransom's father said with a smile.
He kissed baby yumi's forehead and stroked her hair gently.
"Hello, baby. Grandpa is here, he wants to see you so I can get rid of my stress. You really look like your daddy," he said with a smile.
"You look more like him, Sweetheart," his mother appealed.
"Of course, I am the original. Our son's good looks came from me," his father replied with a smile.
I glanced at Ransom and saw that he was trying to smile. This man is really good at pretending.
"Camilla, thank you so much for giving us such a beautiful granddaughter. This is one of my dreams before I disappear from the world," his father thanked me with a smile.
"I'm the one who should thank you, dad. Thank you for accepting Baby Yumi and me even though I don't really deserve your son," I said seriously.
"It's good you know," said Ransom.
Both his parents looked at him. He smiled and took back what he said jokingly. Even though I knew it wasn't true. Everything he showed in front of us was not true.
"Just kidding!" he said with a smile.
"Anyway, how's the contract between you and Mr. Chua?" his father asked.
"Yes, Dad. Didn't I tell you not to understand that thing?" I said with a smile.
"I'm just making sure. But I know you are always doing your job well, that's why I'm proud of you, son" his father replied with a smile.
"Thank you for trusting me, Dad," Ransom said with a smile.
I caught Ransom's evil look at me. I just avoided it because I didn't want to fight with him anymore. It's tiring that we are always like this.
A few moments later, his parents said goodbye to rest. It was late at night and they were obviously tired.
"We're going to rest. Thank you very much, Camilla," his father said with a smile.
"Goodnight guys," his mother said.
"Goodnight to you, Mom, and Dad" I replied with a smile.
Ransom smiled sparingly and his father patted him on the back before leaving the room.
The two of us were left in the room and looked at each other. I immediately looked away from him.
"You should thank them," he said.
"If they don't come, maybe I won't just hit you," he threatened.
"Please stop, Ransom. I don't want to fight with you. Aren't you even ashamed of our daughter?" I asked him firmly.
"Why should I be ashamed of a naive child?!" he asked with a smirk.
"You're really losing your mind!" he added.
I just held my breath and was shaken by what he said. I don't really know where I will be and how I can live with him anymore.
"If it wasn't really because of you, I would have left your father a long time ago," I said while looking at my daughter.
I just focused my attention on my daughter at those moments. I didn't pay attention to what he was saying to me. The night ended without us saying anything. I don't know how long I will endure but even so I have trained myself in the situation of my husband and I.
Why did I give the thing to a man who can't appreciate it?
Should I regret the arrival of Baby Yumi in my life?
I just closed my eyes to fall asleep again.
The next morning I woke up early and my back hurt a bit. But I still have to serve my husband despite our fight last night.
I went downstairs to order Beth to prepare food. I made Ransom some coffee before I went upstairs. I didn't wait for him to come down because I knew I was going to ruin his day. I knew he didn't want to see me. When I came back I met him and I just ignored him.
I went straight to Baby Yumi's Crib to load her and we headed to the Veranda to expose her to the sun. That's what the mother said so that baby Yumi could get more vitamins and be energetic.
I was just surprised when Ransom suddenly spoke in front of me. This man was serious and obviously angry again.
"I told you to sign this!" he said firmly while throwing an envelope on the small table.
I took a deep breath to calm myself down. I had to calm down because I had my baby in my arms. I didn't want her to feel bad when I fought with his father.
"Please don't raise your voice at me anymore. I will sign that," I replied calmly.
"Then sign it now!" he said firmly.
I just shook my head and slowly took the envelope and signed the documents inside.
"Is it okay?" I asked.
But he didn't answer and immediately left. He slammed the door of our room and I just held my breath at what he did.
"Don’t think about your dad, baby. He's just really tired from work," I said while looking at my son.
I just danced with my daughter and kissed her on her forehead. I really love her and for me, she is the best gift I have ever received.
A few moments later, I returned to the room and I had to bathe the baby. I arranged the basin to put her in and I just smiled while giving her a bath.
After I bathed her, I went downstairs to talk with the maids. I feel like I've been locked in the room for most of the day.
When I got down, I went to the living room and saw Beth. I smiled at her and she returned a sweet smile. But there was still a trace of shame on her face. I knew she thought I was mad at her. But even I never really got angry with her despite her curious questions about me.
"Good morning, Ma'am," she greeted with a smile.
"Good morning to you too, Beth," I replied with a smile.
"Your food is ready on the table, Ma'am," she said with a smile.
"Let's eat together. Come," I invited her.
“Oh! Go ahead, Ma’am" she refused.
"Okay, don't say no," I insisted.
"Ahm, Dina can you carry baby Yumi first?" I asked.
"Yes, Ma'am," Dina answered with a smile.
I also want to make amends with Beth because of what I said last night. I know there was nothing wrong with what she said to me.
She did nothing but follow me. We went to the kitchen and sat in front of the dining table.
There was a lot of food on the table and Beth's cooking was really good.
"Your cooking is delicious, Beth," I complimented her.
"I didn't cook all that, Ma'am. Dina cooked the other dishes," she replied with a smile.
"Well, you're still a good cook," I insisted.
"Thank you for the compliment, Ma'am" she smiled in gratitude.
"It's true," I said with a smile.
We had a good time talking while eating. She also talked about her life and my heart was touched because of how good her daughter was to her parents. She chose to prioritize her studies rather than focusing on having a girlfriend.
"There are a lot of teenage pregnancies these days and I don't want to be like them. I know that the child will also be miserable because of the mistakes you have made. There are others who have abortions just to correct the mistake but they only commit sins more," she said seriously.
What she said made me almost cry and suddenly what Ransom told me came to my mind. My chest tightened again and I couldn't imagine myself doing that thing.
I would never want to abort Baby Yumi despite the misunderstanding between her father and me.
"I'm sorry for being curious. I know what I did was wrong," she apologized.
"Forget it. It's okay, Beth," I replied with a smile.
We just smiled at each other and after we ate I helped her put away the food.
"I'll help you, Beth," I volunteered.
"It’s okay, Ma'am. I can do it," she refused.
But I was still naughty and still helped her because I'm happy with what I'm doing.
"Thank you very much for the kindness you show me, Ma'am" I smiled in gratitude.
"I'm the one who should be thankful because your service was good. At least I can talk to some good friends here," I answered.
I saw a smile on her lips and I smiled at her too.
A few moments later, Dina suddenly approached me, clearly panicked. I was shocked to see her panicked face.
"Ma'am, the baby is throwing up the milk," she said in a panic.
I panicked and took Baby Yumi from her arms. But I became complacent when Beth said that it wasn't serious and It was normal for a baby.
I put her on my chest in a prone position while she’s hugging me because that's what should be done like what Beth said. But I wondered why she knew so much about this kind of thing compared to Dina and me.
"My brother is like that too. I've been taking care of him since he was a baby and mom taught me that," Beth answered with a smile.
"You know a lot about life, Beth. You are really ready to be a mother," I said to her with a smile.
"I don't have that thing in my mind yet, Ma'am, hehe" she replied with a smile.
"I know that and I’m just kidding," I smiled jokingly at her.
At night I went to the bedroom to put the baby to sleep.
Around 7 pm, Beth knocked on my bedroom door. Ransom's parents were calling me to have dinner with them. I also asked Beth if Ransom had come home.
"Has Ransom come home?" I asked.
"He's in the downstairs, Ma'am. He was talking to his father," she answered.
My heart was happy when my husband must have returned home.
Even if he didn't even come up to the room, I'm still happy that he came home.
I fixed myself first and carried the baby in my arms. I slowly went down the stairs with Beth carrying baby Yumi's things.
We went to the dining table and his parents were smiling at us. Meanwhile, Ransom’s face was serious looking at me.
"Good evening, mom, dad." I greeted them.
"Good evening, Camilla. Come on, let's have dinner," his father invited.
I sat next to Ransom and saw him glance at me.
"You have something to explain, son," his father said seriously.
We both looked at his father and we were both surprised to hear what his father said to him.
