Chapter 70 I Will Protect You
"Why is she still out cold? Give her some meds, quick." Jonathan grabbed two pills from the box and popped them into Amelia's mouth without saying a word.
I just stood there, watching him do his thing.
Eric took a sip of tea, his eyes on the box.
I leaned in and whispered, "Do you know what's up with this guy? How did he die, and why is someone so obsessed with him?"
A big shot in the seafood industry could have anyone, yet he was fixated on an unknown celebrity.
Eric flicked my forehead and said coldly, "So concerned about a dead person? Am I invisible to you?"
I rubbed my forehead, feeling a bit hurt. "That's not it; I just think this guy's really weird. By the way, what was that old man gonna say? Why didn't you let him talk?"
That old man definitely knew something about me.
Too bad Eric cut him off, or I might've learned some secrets about myself tonight.
Eric's face got serious. "You need to remember, no matter what happens, you will always be Emily."
His sudden change of topic left me totally confused.
I thought, 'I am Emily. If I'm not Emily, who else could I be? This is nuts.'
Then I felt a chill run down my spine. "You don't mean I'll become someone else in the future, do you? Eric, don't freak me out, that's my worst fear."
I grabbed Eric's hand, shaking it.
Eric took the chance to hold my wrist, softly saying, "Don't worry, I'll protect you."
As he spoke, he even pinched my earlobe and face.
I didn't know what his deal was. He seemed to have a thing for my ears and face.
"If I were to suddenly pass away one day..." I began, but seeing Eric's expression darken, I chose not to finish my sentence.
His face went cold, and his hand moved to my shoulder.
The next second, he gripped my shoulder tightly, his eyes filled with emotions I couldn't read. In a hoarse voice, he said, "Emily, never mention that in front of me again."
As his words sank in, a wave of sadness washed over me.
My heart clenched, causing me pain.
Why did this happen all of a sudden? Was it because of Eric's bad mood?
I touched my chest, trying to calm down.
Eric moved, pulling me into his arms. "Just remember, stay by my side for the rest of your life. No matter what happens, you are Emily, and I will always protect you. I'll make sure you live a safe and happy life. Trust me, okay?"
Eric's gentle voice gradually eased the pain in my heart.
This was the first time I got his promise, and the first time I saw this gentle side of him.
Eric being gentle made me feel a bit awkward. It also made my heart race.
I spoke softly, "But when I was bullied before, and when I was taken away in the middle of the night, you weren't there. When Zara hit me and my head was bleeding, all I could think about was you, but you weren't there."
Honestly, I almost didn't care about those past events. But Eric bringing it up made me feel instantly wronged.
After I said that, I couldn't help but pout.
My nose started to sting, and I was on the verge of tears.
But before I could cry, Eric leaned down and kissed me. It totally caught me off guard. Eric actually kissed me on his own!
I clutched my chest, feeling my heart race.
"Why did you kiss me?" My voice was shaky with nerves, while Eric calmly stroked my hair.
When did this straightforward guy Eric learn these smooth moves? I almost fell for his gentle act.
Eric stroked my hair for a bit, then pulled back, blinking innocently. "I wanted to."
I was left speechless.
I scoffed and headed towards the master bedroom on the second floor.
Eric just stood there, watching me leave, looking even more innocent.
Once in the bedroom, I pulled out two big packs of herbal medicine.
Jonathan had prepped these herbal packs for me to get my body in shape early.
Just as I got everything ready, Eric showed up behind me. He had changed into a bathrobe, his exposed chest muscles looking particularly tempting.
I swallowed hard and quickly looked away. "What's with the getup?"
Eric glanced at me, cornering me. "Those things you said to me outside today, were they true?"
I said so many things outside; how was I supposed to know which one he meant?
Then it hit me what Eric was talking about.
Judging by his bashful look, he must be referring to the stuff I said at the villa. How did he still remember that?
I awkwardly covered my face, not wanting to admit it. But he was relentless, lifting my chin, his gaze intense. "You said you wanted to touch my abs, ride me like a rocking horse, and have a good time. Trying to play dumb?"
He pinched my chin, getting even closer.
Smelling his cool, pleasant scent, my face turned red.
All my inner thoughts came rushing back. Eric actually remembered everything. This was so embarrassing.
"Well, at that time, I was just caught up in the moment; it wasn't really what I meant." I rubbed my nose, avoiding his eyes.
Eric squinted, his voice deepening. "Not even a little?"
Well, maybe a little. But how could I admit that? What if Eric thought I was a perv?
Besides, I already got Eric's Yang Energy to stay alive. If I admitted I was craving his body, wouldn't that be even more embarrassing?
Thinking about being laughed at by Eric, I quickly explained, "Anyway, what I mean is, we haven't fully established our relationship, and I don't want to take advantage of you casually. You said I was delusional before, and you were right, we shouldn't be like this."
"Shouldn't be like this?" Eric sneered, his eyes growing colder.
I nodded firmly.
Eric looked at me deeply, as if trying to see into my soul.
Just as I was about to break, Eric suddenly let go and slowly walked to the bathroom door.
As the bathroom door closed, he said lightly, "I hope you remember what you just said. I'll remember your attitude as well. Even if you were to beg on your knees in the future, you won't stand a chance."
I thought, 'This guy is really full of himself!'
I shook my head seriously. "Don't worry; I definitely won't."
