Chapter 61 Detoxification?

I always had a bad feeling about meeting Roy alone.

Maybe Andrew could figure out what Roy was up to.

Ever since I found out that Andrew was a boss, I couldn't help but feel that he had suddenly transformed from a peer to a charming and successful CEO.

His elevated status made me a bit unsure of how to interact with him.

Lately, Andrew's been MIA at school. When I went to the address he gave me, his secretary stopped me at the door, saying I needed an appointment.

I sighed, kicking myself for not getting Andrew's contact info.

"If I'd known it would be this much of a hassle, I would've gotten his number earlier," I muttered.

I plopped down in the lounge area, killing time by scrolling through my phone.

Then, I stumbled upon a post by Roy.

I froze when I saw the picture he posted. [Can cure all poisons.]

That one-liner grabbed my attention instantly.

I thought, 'Does that mean the weird poison in me can be cured too?'

When Zara poisoned me, I thought I was a goner.

Seeing this post now, a flicker of hope sparked in me. This creep actually used Facebook to post this?

I bit my lip, seriously wondering if this info was legit.

"Why didn't you just come up to find me? Or did you really not save my contact info?" A familiar voice came from above.

I looked up and met Andrew's amused gaze.

He was rocking a light gray suit, looking every bit the CEO from a novel.

Seeing him like this made me nervous. "Sorry, I came to find you out of the blue today. I forgot about your special status now, so I had to wait since I didn't have an appointment. About that contact info..."

I didn't dare to say I threw it away because I was scared Eric would get mad. I still needed to ask Andrew for a favor.

Andrew smiled, not bothered at all. He sat down next to me with a faint smile.

"There's gotta be a big reason why you're here in such a rush. Just tell me. Like I said before, if it's something I can handle, I'll help you out," Andrew said.

I didn't hesitate and spilled my thoughts, "You're right. I do have something really important to discuss with you."

He nodded, signaling me to go on.

I took a deep breath and said, "Roy is your brother. I want to know how much you know about him. I need his help with something really important, so I hope you can tell me everything you know."

Hearing Roy's name, Andrew's brows furrowed.

He handed me a cup of warm water and asked, puzzled, "Roy? What can he help you with? Did he come to find you again?"

I explained everything that had happened between us.

After hearing this, his face turned cold. "Since Roy got into trouble, we haven't seen each other much. Honestly, if he wants to meet you alone, I don't feel good about it. You should bring your boyfriend along, or take me with you."

I shook my head instinctively.

We agreed to meet alone, and even if I brought someone, it would be Eric or Jonathan first.

If their relationship was as unstable as he described, bringing Andrew along wouldn't help and might even make things worse. If Roy resisted, I’d never achieve what I was after.

I thought, 'Forget it, I'll just go by myself.'

Andrew noticed my hesitation and said softly, "It's okay. After all, he's my brother. Even if he's mad at me, he wouldn't kill me, right? At least I'm a guy. Having me around might help avoid some trouble."

Andrew's sincere eyes made it hard to see any hidden agenda.

But they were blood brothers. I couldn't trust anyone's words, especially when they looked so much alike. If they teamed up against me, I'd be toast.

"Are you worried we might team up to hurt you?" Andrew suddenly looked at me, his eyes showing a hint of hurt.

His question hit the nail on the head, making my face stiffen.

Andrew's deep eyes were staring at me, as if trying to see into my soul. It felt like no matter what I said, it wouldn't matter.

I didn't want to be looked at like that, so I quietly nodded. "That's right. After everything that's happened, I really can't trust anyone. Besides, you two look too much alike. I can't convince myself to fully trust either of you. You are blood brothers, and I'm just an outsider."

With everything that had happened, there was no one I could trust.

The only one I could trust was Eric, but he was still in a coma.

Seeing my nervous face, Andrew sighed helplessly, "I get it, but he's been dead to me for years. I've always been alone and never thought we had any chance to team up. To me, he's just a name. But you're different."

Andrew's passionate gaze fell on me, reminding me of what he had said before.

After a mental struggle, I still nodded and agreed because Roy was too much of a creep. I was afraid of being bullied.

After deciding to meet, I immediately sent a message to Roy, asking for the meeting location.

He replied almost instantly.

[OK, as long as you come, everything is negotiable.]

Reassured by the positive response, I felt at ease and went to the meeting with Andrew, who remained hidden, discreetly observing Roy and me.

I arranged the meeting at a café near the university town, a popular spot for everyone. And it was also the place with the most foot traffic.

Seeing the location, Roy almost turned to leave, but I quickly called out to him.

Roy was forced to sit across from me, looking resentful. "It seems you still don't trust me, meeting in a place like this."

I looked innocent. "Of course, given your track record."

Roy fell silent.

I continued, "Anyway, the meeting is about the antidote. Since I'm here, just tell me your conditions."

Roy raised an eyebrow with a smile. "Showing it to you means that I am about to give it to you?"

I was infuriated by his shamelessness and instantly turned cold, "Do you have any shame? If you don't mean it, then don't ask me to meet."

He nonchalantly spread his hands, "So what? Can't I tease you a bit? Besides, I just don't like Eric and want to take you away from him. Is that wrong?"

Roy's righteous tone made me even more uncomfortable.

I frowned, grabbed my bag, and wanted to leave.

But Roy grabbed my bag and sneered, "If a man can't even protect his own woman, he's useless."

I yanked my bag hard and glared at him.

If it weren't for all this mess, Eric wouldn't be in a coma. It was all because of these bastards, constantly messing with me.
