Chapter 106 Chapter 106

Chapter 106 Chapter 106
“There,” she said, offering the injured warrior a gentle smile as she finished bandaging his wound. “Keep it elevated, rest and make sure you eat plenty to fuel your body to heal.”

He bowed his head. “Thank you, Beta-daughter.”

A warrior helped guide the injured man away so she could work on the next.

“We need help over here,” Reynard called out as he carried a woman over, soaked in blood.

A young witch in training gasped at the sight.

Suki rushed over and helped him lay her down. “What happened?”

“Collapsed house. She got caught under a lot of debris trying to protect her kid,” he exhaled.

The woman cried, “My baby, is my baby okay?”

Reynard held her shoulder and reassured her, “Your child is with your mate. He’s fine.”

“No, no,” she sobbed further.

Erin pushed through the witches gathering around and watching. “Cassandra, I sense a pregnancy.”

Suki looked at her friend and protector witch and saw someone more confident and grounded in herself, as if she had finally found her craft within the witches – fertility. Though she would still be a protector for the Twyla family, her speciality gift is something that she would offer to the whole pack.

“If she’s pregnant, then we need to get her to the hospital,” said Suki.

Rey shook his head. “She’s losing too much blood, and the hospital is already overloaded with cases. If we move her, we might lose her and the baby, or they might have to deliver the baby prematurely.”

The woman wept. “No, it’s too soon, it’s too soon! Please, help me,” she clenched Suki’s hand, pleading with her eyes.

Suki looked at Cassandra. An idea was brewing in her.

Her brows furrowed, knowing exactly what she was thinking. “It’s a risk, Suki. You’ve only done minor injuries so far. It’s bad enough I’m training you during the current situation.”

“I know I can do it. If I don’t try, I’ll never forgive myself.”

Offering a nod, Cassandra reluctantly agreed. “I’ll be here to assist.”

Suki inhaled deeply through her nose and exhaled slowly through her mouth. “Ma’am, please stay still,” she said before hovering her hands over the woman’s body – one over her belly and one over the deep wound on her leg.

“Slowly,” Cassandra whispered behind her.

A soft white glow began radiating from the clear quartz around her neck, then her hands replicated the same glow as she focused on her power. As Suki connected with the power she harnessed through her crystal, the green shimmered and glowed in her eyes.

“Good,” Cassandra encouraged her. “Keep it steady, and when you’re ready…” she trailed off.

Carefully, Suki placed her hands on the woman’s small bump and wound on her leg. She guided the stone magic through herself to heal the woman before her and her unborn child. Moisture tickled the top of her lip, but she didn’t lose focus.

She could feel Reynard’s concern through the bond, but pushed that aside. She had more important things to worry about.

After a short while, the wounds began to heal, and the woman’s jagged breathing began to steady.

Once finished, the white glow of her magic faded away, and Suki inhaled sharply. She touched the top of her lip and found a trickle of blood that had dribbled down her nose.

Erin leaned forward and placed her hand on the woman’s belly. “Your baby will be fine.” She smiled. “We’ll send you for a checkup once things have settled just to be sure, but I can sense the baby’s comfort now.”

“Thank you,” she panted, looking at Suki. “Thank you so much.”

Suki smiled and bowed her head.

“That’s enough from you today, Suki. We’ve got it from here,” said Cassandra.

“But I–”

Her gaze darted to her, eyes narrowing, insinuating that her word was not a request, but an order.

She nodded once. “Yes, Cassandra.”

Reynard helped her to her feet and led her away from the group.

“Suki,” Cassandra called out to her.

She turned around. “Yes, ma’am?”

“Well done. I’m proud of you. You’ve got a lot of potential.”

Suki grinned and bowed her head in respect.

Handing her a tissue, Reynard sighed, “You are trying to give us a heart attack, aren’t you?”

Taking the tissue, she wiped her nose and stuffed the tissue in her pocket before huffing. “Hey, I did good there, and you were the only one who was–”

“Why the hell can I smell your blood?” Brendan appeared behind her, his voice laced with concern.

Her shoulders slouched.

Reynard arched an eyebrow and crossed his arms. “You were saying?”

She stuck her tongue out at him and turned towards Brendan. “I’m fine, just used a little too much magic today, but I’m improving already so you should really be impressed and not annoyed.”

Brendan furrowed his brows. “Don’t rush training, love. It’s important to get it right rather than just focusing on getting in on all the action.”

“It’s not that,” she sighed. “They need me now, and I’m not ready. If I can help even just a little bit, then I will.”

Reynard and Brendan looked at each other and smiled. They both were proud of her efforts.

‘Stubborn little one, aren’t you, love?’

She narrowed her eyes at him and smiled. “If stubborn means I can help that woman and her unborn child, then so be it.”

“How maternal of you,” Brendan purred, leaning towards her ear. He whispered, “I imagine you’ll be worse when you have our kids.”

Pressing her hand against her cheek in an attempt to hide her blush, Suki felt the heat blooming against her hand, trailing from her face lower and lower. She snapped herself out of it and glared at him. “Maybe I will, maybe I won’t. But no baby talk until we’ve resolved the matters at hand here, and settled into our bond more.” She smiled. “We have time.”

Reynard wrapped his arm around Suki’s waist, mirroring her smile. “Maybe we should give everyone else a chance to get used to this three-person bond we have going on, plus Suki needs to decide her permanent in the pack.”

Suki stared at the ground and smiled, “Well, actually–”

“You three,” one of the Alpha guards called out loudly as he approached the trio, who all turned to face him.

Reynard stepped forward. “What is it, brother?”

“The Alpha has ordered that you three attend the emergency meeting today.”

“All of us?” Brendan questioned nervously.

The guard blinked slowly, looking utterly unimpressed.

Suki swallowed thickly and stepped beside Reynard. “What are we needed for? We’ve already explained everything that happened and all that we know.”

The guard exhaled, “Alpha Wilder wants you all to be there for the discussion of Hadeon Ateos’s sentencing.”

A dark pulse fluttered in Brendan’s chest, one that both Suki and Reynard felt.

They turned to look at him.

His face was paler than usual. “But if a discussion of his sentencing is happening, then that means…”

The unamused guard turned around and began walking away as he spoke, “Alpha Conri, of the Nighttide pack, will be here shortly. Alpha Wilder doesn’t want to keep him and the other Alphas who are attending waiting.”
