I’ll always Find You

I’ll always Find You
Cassian’s POV

I stood outside Ivy’s house, still wearing the same cloth from last night, my lip was split open and aching from where Adrian’s fist had landed. I could still feel his knuckles on my skin.

The image of Ivy running away with him wouldn’t leave me. That damn bitch chose her step brother over me!

Damian was barking orders beside me while pacing like a rabid dog as the cops swarmed the entire property. “Check the woods very carefully! He barked, “I’m sure they couldn't have gone far by now.”

He turned to the lead officer. “Adrian manipulated her. He’s my step-son and I know how dangerous and unstable he can be…. Must have forced her to run away with him.”

“He shot her once already, remember that!” The officer nodded and hurried off, but I said nothing because the lie tasted like ash.

I knew Ivy for so long to know how much feelings she had for that fucking bastard. She didn’t run because she was forced. She chose him. The thought made something inside me snap.

I slammed my fist down on the hood of the nearest police car hard enough that I left a dent mark, making one of the officers freeze in shock. My knuckles split open, blood smearing against the metal.

She belongs to me and only me. No matter how much she tries to run from it. The words echoed in my head like a heartbeat I couldn’t shut off. But then another image flashed—Adrian’s hands on her, his mouth pleasuring her in different places that I could not. His body pressed against hers.

“Fuckkkkk!”

The scream tore from my throat before my brain could realize what I had just done. I didn’t even realize I’d growled until Damian’s voice cut through the haze.

“Cassian.”

I turned to face him watching me carefully, suspicion under the calm mask he always wore as he parted his lips to speak.  “You’re losing control. Get hold of yourself.”

“I’m fine.”

“You don’t look fine.” He shot back as he closed the space between us. “This situation is slipping out of our hands. The media’s already asking questions about the shootout. The police want answers. If Ivy talks—”

“She won’t,” I cut him off before he could finish.

He tilted his head. “You sound certain.”

“I am certain of that. She wouldn’t want to see her father in jail.” My voice dropped to a low whisper. Damian stood there for a moment, studying me before his tone dropped to a dangerous whisper.

“Then make sure of it. Find Adrain and kill him for good this time if you want to have Ivy all to yourself.”

I looked past him, at the tall and huge trees swallowing the forest as it looked endless. “I’ll find them,” I murmured, “and I’ll make Ivy my wife whether she wants it or not.”

Damian smirked faintly. “I know you will.” Then he walked away barking more orders at the officers. I stood there for a moment, breathing through the rage clawing up my chest—

Then an idea of what I should have done long ago hit me. And without hesitation, I reached into my pocket and pulled out something small.

A silver bracelet that belongs to Ivy, It had fallen from her wrist last night during the struggle. I turned it over in my hand, feeling the delicate chain bite into my palm. “You can’t hide from me forever, Ivy Sinclair,” I whispered. “Not now. Not ever.”

I got into my car and slammed the door shut, sitting there in silence for a while before starting my car. The engine purred to life, accompanied by a low growl vibrating through the leather seat.

My reflection in the rearview mirror stared right back at me—eyes bloodshot, jaw clenched, hair plastered to my forehead. She was out there somewhere in these woods. With him.

I pressed the accelerator and began to drive down the muddy road. Half an hour later, I pulled over near the old service road leading into the forest….the cops hadn’t found anything yet. But I would.

I always do.

I leaned back in my seat, exhaling through my teeth and trying to control the rage inside me that was turning into something else, then I reached for my phone. Scrolling through the contacts until I found a name I hadn’t contacted in three years.

Dante.

If there was only one man who could do the job of finding Ivy and Adrain and killing that Motherfucker. It was going to be him. I hesitated for a moment as my thumb hovered over the call button. Then I pressed it.

The line rang once. Twice. Then—

“Cassian,” a voice drawled. Deep, rough, amused. “Didn’t think I’d ever hear from you again.”

“It’s been a long time,” I said quietly.

“Three years, last I counted and you finally decided to crawl out from behind your fancy suits and corporate mask?”

“Something like that.”

A low and dangerous laughter tore through him. “You sound different….angry I would say rather.”

“I have a job for you.”

That must have shut him up because he hesitated a little before replying to me.“What kind of job?”

I looked out the windshield at the endless stretch of trees ahead. “The kind you’ll like,” I shot back, “I want someone found. And killed.”

For a moment it was nothing but silence, then a sharp inhale before he spoke again.  “Who’s your target this time around?”

I smiled faintly, though there was nothing warm in it. “His name is Adrian Veynar. And there’s someone with him I need alive.”

“Alive?” Dante sounded amused again. “First time I have to keep someone alive in a job you want me to do. That person must be special then?”

My grip tightened around the phone. “She’s mine and if you dare go against my orders and harm her, you die.”

“Ah. That kind of job.” He hissed, as though he was mocking me indirectly.

“Can you handle it?” I asked.

He chuckled darkly. “You already know the answer.”

“Good.” I leaned back, letting my head rest against the seat. “Find them. I want a clean job, but make it fast.”

“What’s in it for me?”

“You’ll get double your usual rate.”

Dante gave a low hum, pretending to think. “Triple.”

“Fine.”

“Pleasure doing business with you, Cassian. Send me their last known location.”

I hung up before he could say anything else and I just sat there, phone still in my hand while listening to the sound of my heartbeat thudding in my ears.

Then I looked down at the bracelet again. “I told you, Ivy,” I murmured. “You can run. But I’ll always find you.”
