Chapter 6
Chapter Six:
Anonymous pov
"Who are you?" The guard asked
"You can't come in here without..." He added before I cut him short, I hated long talks, and certainly not from a guard
"My boss will call you in three seconds to give it," I answered and almost immediately, his phone rang, just right on time!
"Yes?" He answered
Yes. Of course, sir." He added
"Alright" he finished
"I'm looking for the body of the tourist found last night," I said
"Yes? The body?" I asked and he took me to where it was
"He has no blood in him," I observed
"And there was no blood at the scene. It's... strange." He agreed
"Is there any background on him?" I inquired
"He was French" he answered
"Name?" I asked
"Klaus Benny" he replied
"Klaus," I repeated, noting how similar the name sounded to Clyde
"Stop," I ordered as he was stripping the body
"Where?" He inquired
"About 35 meters below the ridgeline" I ordered

"If you're here to see my father, he's not to be disturbed." She warned as I walked in, she was trying to stop me from entering
"I think he's gonna want to hear what I have to say," I assured
"This better be important." She added
"It is. It's a police matter." I answered
"Leave us" her father ordered and disappointed, she turned and left
"Clyde, the vampire is harassing a witch"
"Did your source tell you who this witch is?" He asked after listening to the little story I had told him
"Carissa, her name is Carissa"
Carissa's pov
"Have you heard of Mr. Davies?" I asked aunt Lily, she seemed to be the only one who knew or heard of my parents. I needed some answers from her
"Mr. Davies is in Paris?"
"Yes. Did he know my mother?" I asked
"Yeah, he was crazy about her." She answered
"I thought so, from what he said" I admitted
"Tried to persuade her not to marry your father" she continued
"Did she like him?" I queried
"They were friends in the early days and then he just got into some stuff" she added
"What?" I asked
"Dark magic" she blurted out
"Why is Mr. Davies in Paris?" She asked
"My powers. He wants it." I explained
"Your father distrusted him and, by the end, your mum did too"
"Be careful of him, Carissa." She warned
Catherine's pov
"Cate!" My father screamed
"A word" he added
"Where were you two nights ago?" He asked
"Seeing the city at night. You said I was allowed." I answered, my teeth jammed together as I tried to hide my fear
"I said...as long as you were good" he replied, trying to control himself for he had his fists tightened together, I knew him too well
"I have been" I insisted
"If there's something I don't know, my rivals can use it against me, especially Ben" he complained
"Ben's not even in Paris" I noted
"He sees and hears anyway!" He yelled
"This dead tourist...is a brazen vampire killing. And Dorian...the nosey little fucker...smelt you on him." He added, this time angry
"That's not true. Dorian hates me." I said and when I saw he was having none of it, I had to admit it.
"Clyde...you taught me to crave Clyde! No! Father! Father!" I begged as he locked me up in a cage. He locked me here to it me under subjection.
Carissa's pov
"You think my power is going to help you with your understanding of this, don't you?" I asked Clyde
"It could explain our origins, yes." He replied
"But we aren't going to go extinct tomorrow" I jeered
"There are still plenty of creatures in the world" I added
"I have a different sense of time to you. When humans talk about climate change that's exactly the argument they use." He answered
"Oh, the polar ice caps will take so many years to melt. Who cares?" I threw at him
"I remember when the Thames
iced over every winter. I used to skate on it." I continued
"You're right, though. It's not going to happen immediately, tomorrow, but it's already begun. One day, there'll be just one species. Humans. And at first, they won't notice the difference because they've never noticed us, but, gradually...eventually, they'll come to see that...all the magic has seeped out of the world. And they'll look around them...and everyone will be the same." He explained
"You think whatever power I have I should use?" I inquired
"I think, at the very least, you should try not to be frightened of it. Although, as far as I can tell there are only two emotions that keep the world turning.
One is... desire. And the other is fear. Magic is desire made real." He continued and I must confess, he was right.
"That's what my aunt says." I agreed
"Mmm" was all he muttered
"Right"
"I am trying so hard to control myself" he inhaled
"What would I taste like?" I asked
"You wouldn't be able to stop me if I struck and I wouldn't be able to stop myself" he warned
****
"Thank you," I said as Sarah helped me with my seat
"I thought you knew about vampires." She started
"That's why you invited me to dinner," I said, finally getting it
"I need your help to get into their heads, I need your powers" she begged and when she saw I was having none of it, she went silent
"Are you gonna give the book to the vampire?" She continued
"Where are we going, anyway?" I asked
"My house." She answered
"Did you cast a spell to call up the vampire? What are you doing
hanging around with a vampire? He could feed off you, take your memories.
Seen everything you saw when you opened up, including your past!" She yelled
"You shy away from us and yet you seek out vampire company" she finished
"I'm not a bigot like you" I retorted, surprising how much could be said in a matter of seconds
"You like him" she noted and gasped
