Chapter 129 Memory hot
POV Maya:
I feel my head pounding as soon as I open my eyes. I try to adjust to the light, but it’s impossible with the relentless throbbing.
What truck ran me over
Once my eyes adjust, I see that I’m in my bedroom. I don’t remember how I got here. In fact, everything is confused in my head. I don’t remember much after I drank my second Wake-the-Devil cocktail. The bartender said he was going to surprise me, and surprise me he did.
Judging by the dull pain I’m feeling, the only thing I regret is asking him to add more alcohol. That was probably my mistake and the cause of this hangover.
I grab my phone to check the time and get startled to see it’s almost ten in the morning. I need to take a shower and get ready. Today is the big day when I’m going to learn how to ride. Sebastian said I’m ready to finally ride Salazar, the horse I’ve formed a bond with that I can’t quite explain.
I know that for some people it’s just a matter of getting on a horse and riding, but it’s not like that for Sebastian. He told me that first we need to establish trust between the animal and the person who’s going to be on its back guiding it, and that’s what we’ve been doing these past few days—building trust between Salazar and me. Of the five horses the Moretti family owns, it was that all-black stallion who caught my attention. In his eyes, I saw a challenge, and that’s why I want to ride him.
Sebastian loves all five horses he takes care of: Sapeca—his speckled mare—Salazar—Dominic’s horse—Atrevido—Luca’s—Nala—a beautiful caramel-colored mare who belongs to Mikhail—and Arrow—a gentle horse that belongs to Adrian. Since I started spending more time with Sebastian and the horses, I’ve realized how much I love this quiet, peaceful life.
I don’t wake up as early as they do, but I like helping them with their chores—whether it’s helping Sebastian feed and brush the horses, or helping Luca take care of the other animals they have on the farm, which include chickens, pigs, and a cow. I also don’t mind bringing fresh water every hour to Mikhail and Adrian while they work in the fields. Even Dominic, with his independent nature, I help on Saturdays by writing down orders from the customers who come from the city.
In my last call with Tay, I talked about this. I told her how much I like this life—how not even my flower shop makes me as happy as being on the farm, helping them with the animals. I’m considering hiring someone to work for me while I spend this time on the farm. I want to help them in the best way I can, and after Mrs. Moretti returns, I can go back to my old routine. Excited about today, I get out of bed wanting to take the fastest shower possible.
Twenty minutes later, I head downstairs for breakfast. I need to be well fed if I want to get on Salazar. Even though I’m dying to ride him, that horse is as stubborn as his owner. Salazar doesn’t let anyone ride him except Dominic—something I fully intend to change today.
As soon as I enter the kitchen, I find the table still set, with my place neatly arranged. I’m surprised by the breakfast the brothers left for me. They usually only let me eat if I help them. What could have motivated them to be so nice? I set the question aside and hurry to eat. Sebastian must be waiting for me.
...
The moment I enter the barn, I see Sebastian in Sapeca’s stall, brushing her and petting her. I find that so cute. I walk over because I like doing that too. I grab a brush and stand on the other side of Sapeca, helping Sebastian brush her. As soon as his eyes meet mine, he quickly looks away, his cheeks turning red instantly.
What was that?
“Good morning, Maya. How are you?” he asks, and I smile.
“Good morning, Sebastian. I’m great—really excited to ride today,” I say enthusiastically.
“Ride?” he asks, clearing his throat.
“Yes. I’ve been dreaming about it for a long time.” I keep brushing Sapeca, occasionally stroking behind her ear, where I know she likes being petted the most.
“Looks like the effect still hasn’t worn off,” he murmurs, and I’m not sure if I heard him right. “Why don’t you go back to sleep?”
I look at Sebastian and see him studying me. Why does he look like he’s trying to get rid of me? He knows how much I want to ride Salazar, and nothing he says will make me give up. I know I’m ready.
“I’m not going to sleep until I ride,” I state, and he raises his eyebrows. “Oh, come on, Sebastian. You know how much I want to ride Salazar.”
“What?” he asks, surprised, and I roll my eyes.
“Sebastian, is everything okay?”
“Yes, yes, everything’s fine.” I narrow my eyes, not really believing him.
“Are you sure?”
“Of course I am.”
He goes back to brushing Sapeca, and I stay quiet, analyzing his posture. What could be so serious to make him act like this? We continue in silence, and the few times I try to start a conversation, he moves away with the excuse of having something to do.
After a few hours, I’m pissed, realizing he’s not going to teach me how to ride. When we go back to the house for lunch, I discover it’s not just Sebastian acting strange with me—every one of his brothers is too.
What the fuck happened?

POV Dominic:
It’s hard to focus on anything other than the wicked woman sitting in front of me, eating strawberries while distractedly messing with her phone. Yesterday, Maya tested my brothers’ sanity and mine. It wasn’t easy watching a woman possessed because of those drinks she had. We shoved her under the shower, clothes and all, but she didn’t make it easy for us—after all, we’re talking about the wicked one. Maya started tearing off each piece of clothing in desperation, and when she couldn’t rip off the tight pants, she asked us to help her. I ripped that shit off her.
Maya was naked in front of us, and we knew how wrong it was to see her like that. That’s why we turned our backs, hoping the cold water would take care of the fire inside her—but the water didn’t help like I thought it would. When we heard her screams and moans, we got worried and turned around, ready to help her. And what the fuck did we see? Her touching herself, thrusting her fingers deep into her pussy.
We were hypnotized by the sight, but when I realized we shouldn’t be enjoying that situation, I pushed my brothers out of the bathroom. Before I left, I noticed the wicked woman was about to fall, so I didn’t think—I just acted and stepped under the cold water to support her.
