Kael POV

Kael had always thrived in the chaos of battle, in the rush of command, in the tension of strategy. But tonight, as the sounds of laughter and music filled the air, he felt something different stirring in his chest.

The two packs—Nightclaw and Moonfang—were gathered together in the clearing all mingling and sharing in the joy of this moment of peace. This was everything they needed: an escape. It was a time for unity.

And yet, despite the warmth of the fire, the buzz of conversation, and the sense of relief that filled the air, something deeper gnawed at him. His gaze kept finding Aria—his Luna, his mate, the woman who had changed everything.

She was at the heart of it all, standing beside her sister, Lyra, holding her own in the whirlwind of attention, but Kael could sense the worry she carried.

It wasn’t obvious. But he knew her too well.

She wasn’t just the healer and Luna she had been expected to be; she was so much more than that. She was the heartbeat of this alliance. The future of their packs rested in her hands as much as it did his, and yet, she had taken it all on with a grace that left him in awe.

Kael’s thoughts were interrupted as Aria made her way over to him. Her eyes sparkled and a soft smile on her lips as she reached his side.

The sound of everything seemed to dim.

“Mind if I steal you away for a moment?” Aria asked, her voice low, but warm, full of that quiet strength that always made him want to reach for her.

His heart skipped a beat. “Not at all,” Kael replied, his voice rougher than he intended. His hand reached for her without hesitation, grounding him as they began to walk away from the festivities.

As they moved further from the gathering, Kael took a deep breath of the cool night air. The sounds of the party began to fade. The peace of this moment was something Kael hadn’t realized he craved so desperately until now.

They walked for a while. Kael stole glances at her. He couldn’t help but admire the way she carried herself— the way she made everything seem effortless.

Finally, Kael broke the silence. “It feels... strange,” he said softly, his voice carrying the weight of everything he had been thinking. “To be here, after everything we’ve been through.”

Aria’s gaze softened, and she squeezed his hand. “It does. But tonight... tonight is for us. For the future we’re building together.”

“Together,” Kael repeated, turning to look at her. His chest tightened. “I’ve never been so sure of anything, Aria. But I’d be lying if I didn’t still have doubts. Sometimes I wonder if this alliance is truly enough. If we can really make it work.”

Aria stopped walking, pulling him to a halt with her. She faced him now, her expression earnest and open. “Kael... we’ve already made it work. We’ve brought our packs together.”

He shook his head, his brow furrowing. “But it’s not just the packs, Aria. It’s us. What happens after the war ends? After the rogues are gone? What kind of leaders will we be then?”

Her eyes searched his, as if she could see into the depths of his soul. “We’ll be whatever we choose to be. Together.”

Kael’s breath caught in his throat. There was a strength in her that he had always admired, but hearing her speak like this—so sure, so unshakable—made something stir deep within him.

“I know you’re right,” he said, his voice barely above a whisper. “It’s just... sometimes I wonder if I’m the right man for you.”

Aria stepped closer, cupping his face in her hands, her touch warm and steady.

“You are, Kael. You’ve always been the right man. And you don’t have to carry all of this alone.”

Kael leaned into her touch, his heart swelling with emotion. “I know. But it feels like I have to. It’s who I am—who I’ve always been. But you…” He trailed off, his throat thickening. “You make me want to be better.”

Aria smiled, her thumb brushing over his cheek. “You already are better, Kael. And I’m right here. Every step of the way.”

The tenderness in her words, the quiet strength behind them. He closed his eyes for a moment, savoring the feeling of her hands on him, the grounding presence she was in his life. When he opened them again, she was closer—so close that he could feel the warmth of her body against his. His pulse quickened as she looked up at him, her gaze locked on his lips.

“Kael,” she whispered.

Without another word, he closed the distance between them, his lips capturing hers in a kiss that was tender at first. But the moment their mouths met, something shifted. The bond between them surged to life, and Kael deepened the kiss, his hands finding her waist, pulling her closer. Her breath quickening in response to his touch.

The world around them disappeared. His fingers slid into her hair, tilting her head for a better angle, deepening the kiss as her hands slid over his chest, her nails grazing his skin.

The kiss turned urgent, demanding, as if everything they’d been holding back finally had a chance to break free. He could feel her body pressing into his, the heat between them building.

He pulled back just enough to catch his breath, his forehead resting against hers. “I want to make you feel good, Aria,” he murmured.

Her eyes locked with his, dark with desire. She nodded, her breath catching. “Yes, please,” she whispered, her voice low and full of longing.

Kael responded immediately, lifting her and walking her backward until her back was pressed against the tree. His hands roamed over her body, tracing every curve with reverence.

As their kiss deepened, one hand slid under her shirt, the other lifting her dress at the thigh, exposing more of her skin. The feel of her, soft and warm beneath his hands, awakened something primal in him.

Aria gasped, her breath hitching as he kissed a trail down her neck, savoring the taste of her skin. “Kael…” she breathed, arching into him, her body responding to his touch.

“Let me please you,” he murmured against her skin, his voice rough and low.

With her back braced against the tree, he lifted her leg around his waist, the fabric of her dress bunching around her waist. He teased her sensitive spot through her panties, making her gasp.

“Please…” she begged, her voice barely a whisper. His fingers moved, brushing aside the fabric of her panties as he pressed against her, bringing her closer to the edge with each deliberate, unforgiving motion.

Aria cried out, the pleasure surging through her as Kael expertly guided her toward release. Her hands clawed at him, desperate for more, the tension building rapidly.

As they both began to catch their breath, Kael pulled back slightly, his voice thick with restraint. “We need to get back to the celebration,” he said. “We can’t leave them waiting.”
