Blissful Moments

Blissful Moments
Scarlett’s Point of View

A warm glow enveloped me, like a sunbeam breaking through a cloudy day. Since childhood, I’ve often wondered what it truly felt like to be happy. I yearned for happiness, wishing to experience it and have it in my life. My parents didn’t succeed in making me happy as their child, and my sister seemed to despise me with every fiber of her being; I don’t think she ever loved me.

My family failed to make me feel the way I do today, but in just two days, Asher was able to bring me that joy. This is what I have prayed for and longed for since I was young, and watching it become a reality feels like a dream. For the first time in my life, I am truly happy.

My heart raced with anticipation as Asher gently removed the blindfold from my eyes, my hands flew to my mouth covering it as my gaze landed on the scene in front of me, it was a wedding arch decorated with flowers by the sea, chairs lined up in front with children seated, the wedding officials already waiting for us at the front.

I turned to Asher, tears welling up in my eyes. I honestly didn't think he'd take these silly dreams of mine seriously. I didn't expect it to become a reality, the most beautiful reality of my life.

Asher gently entwined his fingers with mine as he led me to the altar. Time blurred into a resplendent moment, overflowing with joy. As the wedding ceremony completed, Asher and I danced in each other's embrace, the sun shining brightly in the sky, witnessing our magical love. The children happily danced with us too, my laughter filled the air, like the most beautiful song I've ever heard. I could barely remember the last time I was actually happy.

“You are the best thing that ever happened to me, Scarlett, and I want you to hold my hand forever and never let go because if you do, I'd die without you,” Asher whispered, our eyes locked, my heart racing against my chest. He was the best thing that ever happened to me, not the other way around. I had no other words to express how I feel.

“My soul has been lost for all these years, but ever since I looked into your eyes, my soul found a perfect home. You've become my safest place on this planet, and I don't want to spend another second without you,” I couldn't hold back my tears, the tears of joy I never thought would stream down my cheeks. Asher pulled me into a tight embrace, and I wrapped my arms around him.

“I love you today, I will love you tomorrow, and I will forever love you. Never let go of my hand, Scarlett, no matter what happens,” Asher whispered in my ear, and I nodded, my head buried in his chest.

Everything in the world seemed to fade, leaving only us, lost in our own world where only the two of us exist.

Later That Day

This was the last part of my five wishes and fantasies from my diary. I should be excited for it, but a knot twisted in my stomach, making it hard for me to breathe. I tried to convince myself for the past five years that my past was going to stay in my past, but deep down, I knew I lied to myself. My past was still haunting me from every corner, and I couldn't move on from it. Fear gripped my soul, and I was too scared that my past was going to ruin my beautiful future.

“Are you okay, sweetheart?” Asher’s voice was calm and soft. I exhaled deeply, trying to keep my emotions in check.

My eyes darted across the one-room apartment, which was made entirely of glass. The moonlight and stars illuminated the dimly lit space, creating a romantic atmosphere. In the center of the room was a round bed, while on the other side was a glass bathroom. Across from that, there was a small kitchen. It was beautiful and romantic, but I couldn't shake the feeling of dread coursing through me, sending fear through every part of my being.

Asher lifted me to the small chair, making me sit there. He knelt in front of me, his hand moving to my feet, he gently started removing my heels. I swallowed at the contact of his touch.

“Scarlett,” Asher called out my name. I stared at him, our gaze meeting, my heart now banging against my chest. “You know I'd never hurt you, right?” His voice was so reassuring. I tried, I swear I tried to let my guards down, but..

I just couldn't.

“How about you take a shower and relax? I have a beautiful surprise for you,” I forced a smile. He finished removing my heels and placed them on the ground.

“Don't you want to join me?” I quickly regretted my words as soon as they slipped out of my mouth. I wanted him closer to me, but my past wasn't allowing me. I can't push him away either; he wouldn't hurt me, that I was sure of.

His features softened, his gaze never leaving mine. “You need your privacy more than you need me, Scarlett. I will wait for you once you come back,” his voice was low with emotions and understanding.

“I love you,” my voice was barely above a whisper, my eyes never leaving his. I meant it; I truly do love him, but I guess he was right. I needed my privacy more than I needed him, to make peace with my mind.

“I love you more,” Asher whispered, sending butterflies fluttering in my stomach, my heart pounding against my chest. With that, I headed to the bathroom. I let my dress slide off my body, slithering down on the ground like a snake. I stepped into the shower, my hand grasping the knob of the shower, turning it on, and the cold water ascended over my body, relaxing my tensed muscles.

The memories of that night started flashing back in my mind. I tried to push them out and let myself get lost in the moment, but I couldn't without them interfering.

That night was the night when I completed writing my last wish, and the worst happened. Now I found that prince charming who is ready to burn the whole world for me, only to realize I wasn't worth him after all. He didn't deserve to be with a woman like me. I was too disgusted with myself. How could he see me with warm eyes filled with love?

Warm tears streamed down my face, overpowering the cold water against my skin. For a moment, I forgot about the true me, the one who's too broken from within, covered with scars from outside and emotionally damaged, the one who's no less than broken goods. Does he deserve a woman like me?

I flinched when I felt strong arms grasping my shoulder firmly. He spun me around, making me face him, his eyes locking with mine.

“Are you crying?” Asher’s voice cracked, my chest heaved as I exhaled.

“W…Why would I cry?” I cleared my throat, trying to avert my gaze, but he didn't allow me. His touch was supposed to bring me excitement, but all I could feel was dread of being rejected.
