Chapter 24
Ronan's pov

Outside the Clinic, Ronan has just been uneasy pacing through the quarters.

All he could think of was Lila's face, the incident that happened back then at the Mansion.
How she fell to the ground convulsing, the whole incident was so traumatizing.

He couldn't forgive himself for totally ignoring her at first.

It had been an hour since he brought her and there was no news from the doctors concerning her wellbeing. Which was disheartening.

He didn't want her to die. He might have been put off by her defiance and disobedience, but she didn't deserve to die. 

He still had feelings and cared for him even though he's a bit strict on her.

She might be the key to breaking his curse, he had grown quite fond of her, although he was struggling with his emotions. 

He didn't want to look weak in front of her.

I'm still a man.

He barges into her ward and the human doctor in there is surprised he is so concerned about Lila.

“ Is Lila okay, how is her health at the moment?.”

“Any improvement?.”

“Well you need to calm down right now, everything is in our control and I'll need you to trust the process,but from the look of things I can't really tell what's wrong with Lila, but it looks like her body is shutting down from the physical burden placed on it. “

“I have however done some physical examination on her and I found out she has some marks on her body.”

“Are you aware of this?. Ronan.

“Is she going through any physical abuse that you're not aware of?”.

“This is confidential, and would be helpful for her diagnosis.”

“Yes, I'm aware of the marks, but there's no history of physical abuse from me to her.”

He felt so bad for punishing her. 

“Is there anything you can do to save her life, Doctor ?.

“I don't mind paying extra fees, money is not the problem.”

“Well for now I can only try my best, it's a good thing she was brought to the clinic immediately when you noticed the convulsions.”

I'll commend you for that he added.

“Alright you do take care, I'll have to work on Lila’s case.

It wasn't long after the doctor left the guard walked up to Ronan.

The witch has been found in Sector 15.

Alright,that is a good one.

On second thought, I can't leave Lila here.

“I still have to make sure she's okay.”

“ You can inform Caius to lead the troop and find the witch.”

He knew it was a bad decision, but somehow didn't want to leave the mansion when Lila was unconscious at the moment.

Realising he didn't finish his lunch, he decided to go back to the dining hall to eat. 

His appetite is dead. The food tastes like sand. He can't stop thinking of Lila, of her smile when she newly arrived, then things got bad when he started punishing her for his sexual desire. He became angry with so much bitterness.

I shouldn't have allowed my lust to control me. I feel so terrible right now.

He gets up to leave the dining room, and Caius approaches him.

“Is anything wrong, because the guard told me to lead the troop which is strange and unlike you.

“I just want to rest.”

“There's so much I'm thinking right now, Lila is in the clinic in pain”.

“I just can't think of anything else besides her well-being.”

“Well I'm so sorry about that, I know you love her so much”.

“But the thing right now is I'm quite happy to assist in leading the troop and at the same time feel so sad for Lila.”

“And I'm very sure you want to stay back because of Lila.”

“You're getting too attached to Lila's health which is unhealthy and unlike you.”

“I suggest it's better for Lila to die. Cauis added.”

“Are you insane ?.

“I suggest you obey my order and stop questioning me. I know what I'm doing if you think I don't.”

“ You don't have any right to tell me what to do and how to do it.”

“You're just a mere assistant and not my advisor.

“Is that clear ?.”

“I'm so sorry Ronan, I overstepped my boundaries , it won't happen again.”

He bows and leaves.

Ronan goes back to the clinic, he meets Vera there lying down close to Lila.

“She had been there since the incident happened.”

“I'll love to thank you Vera for being here and making sure Lila is in safe hands.”

“ Right now I need some privacy from you.”

“Alright, it's okay.”

“I don't really mind, I mean we're all here for Lila.”

“I guess Lila would be so grateful for this when she wakes up.”

“Thanks for understanding.”

He taps her shoulders.

He sits on Lila's bedside and begs her not to die.

“ I promise to take care of you Lila no more punishments, from this day on.”

“I've never felt so terrible as I am now, I'm only asking you for a favour Lila”.

“Please come back to me, I promise to be a better person to you”.

“To do as you say, whatever that pleases you.”

I love you Lila.”

“I'm ready to change for the better, sacrifice all that it takes just to be in your arms once again.”

He knelt down.

“Please come back to me, I love you more than ever “.

“Whatever you say I'll do .

“No more questions, no more ignorance.”

“No more sexual desires until need be”.

‎Lila’s eyes remained shut.

“He felt so discouraged but he wouldn't stop.”

“I still love you Lila, even though I act s o tough.”

“I guess it's for your own benefit.” 

“I will be so angry with myself if anything bad happens to you after this ,if any one who dares to make you suffer will have to go through me.”

“Please talk to me Lila.”
