Chapter 193

Chapter 193

Rachel's face was a mix of emotions, and she sat quietly for a long time.

Finally, she broke the silence, "Wallace told me everything."

"You have your reasons. If you don't want to, we can't make you. There's no right or wrong in relationships; sometimes, things just don't work out."

Bella hadn't seen Wallace.

Rachel mentioned he was away for work, and Bella felt a wave of relief.

If she could help it, she wanted to avoid any more awkward encounters.

Bella left the things behind. "I'm heading out. I'll visit you another time."

After leaving Wallace's house, Bella felt lost.

She eventually found herself at the plaza.

The plaza was bustling at night, with people gathered around the fountain, bubbles floating up from a bubble machine. Bella drifted through the crowd.

A car had pulled up by the curb at some point.

Bella got jostled a few times and ended up near the mall, where she grabbed a cup of coffee.

Inside the car, Edward's long fingers gripped the steering wheel, his other hand holding a phone.

"Make sure everything at the hospital is set before coming back to see me. That pregnant woman can't have any issues."

"Also, keep an eye on Bella's family. Don't let the Watson family mess with them. The Watson Group is on the edge of collapse, but they're still causing trouble!"

After hanging up, Edward rubbed his temples.

Suddenly, his eyes caught sight of someone outside.

He quickly opened the car door, his long legs striding out with urgency.

"Big sale at the mall! All clothing stores are 20% off! Come to Union Square for your shopping needs..."

Amid the mall's loudspeaker announcements, Edward walked faster and faster until he reached the person.

But when the woman turned around, it was a completely unfamiliar face.

It wasn't Bella.

Edward stared at her coldly for a moment before his phone rang.

He turned around to answer the call, pushing through the crowd back to his car.

Bella didn't see Edward. She wandered for a while before heading home.

When she got home, Fallon told her that someone had sent a package earlier. Curious, Bella went to check and found an already opened box.

Inside were things Edward had given her, along with a note:

[If you don't want them, throw them away.]

It was clearly from Edward.

Bella looked at the ring box lying quietly inside and picked it up after a moment. She put the rest of the items in a corner.

The next morning, Bella took some things to the hospital for her cousin.

"Rilla, I brought some postpartum care items for you."

Rilla was still weak after giving birth, but she looked much better than a few months ago when she had just divorced.

She knew Bella had just returned, and she was grateful to see her. "Thank you so much."

Bella went to see the baby.

Rilla had a daughter, but unlike her in-laws, her family didn't have a strong preference for boys. They were thrilled to have a granddaughter, and Rilla's parents were equally ecstatic.

Suddenly, Bella heard a voice and turned around.

Wallace was standing not far away, looking at her. "My mom told me yesterday that you were back in Seaside City. I was planning to find you when I had time, but I didn't expect to see you at the hospital. Are you here to see the baby?"

Bella didn't want to see him, but she knew she couldn't avoid him at the hospital.

"Yeah, my cousin's baby," Bella replied.

Wallace took a step forward, then hesitated and stepped back. "I got off work early today. Can we talk later?"

Bella paused for a moment before softly replying, "Sure. We didn't get a chance last time."

Wallace visibly relaxed at her response.

The car was quiet. Bella had just left the hospital, and the faint smell of disinfectant lingered on her.

Wallace opened the door and sat inside. "Sorry to keep you waiting."

Bella noticed the smell of smoke on him, which surprised her, but she quickly composed herself.

Wallace had never smoked before.

In just a few months, they both seemed to have changed.

Wallace was silent for a while before speaking softly, "After you left that day, I looked for you for a long time. I thought you wouldn't come back."

Bella felt a pang of sadness. "I know it's  too late, but... I'm sorry."

Wallace looked at her bitterly. "Can I ask why?"

He couldn't understand why Bella had broken off the engagement.

Bella stared out the window without answering.

Wallace nodded, as if he had gotten his answer, and then smiled bitterly. "It's because of him, isn't it?"

"I thought if you gave me a chance, I wouldn't fail. But in the end, I was too naive."

On the quiet street, Bella stood by the roadside, watching the car drive away.

She and Wallace probably couldn't be friends. They might never see each other again.

When Bella got home, she contacted the bridal shop to return the wedding dress she had bought.

"I'll give you a number. Contact him. The dress was only worn once. You can handle it."

After hanging up, Bella looked at the wedding dress hanging in the closet. It was still beautiful.

But unfortunately, she was destined never to wear it.

...

Valhalla, in a private clinic.

A woman covered in bandages lay on the bed, her eyes filled with venom and malice.

No one would have guessed she was the daughter of the Watson Group's president.

A blonde doctor approached the bed. "How are you feeling today?"

Emily's eyes moved with difficulty to look at him, glaring fiercely.

The blonde doctor was unfazed by her murderous gaze.

"Multiple fractures, severe skin damage, four or five surgeries—you're lucky to be alive."

Emily's eyes paused, then filled with even stronger hatred!

If it weren't for Edward and that bitch, she wouldn't be in this state.

The doctor looked at her, his eyes cold. "Maybe we shouldn't have saved you. You don't seem useful."

Emily suddenly became agitated, her eyes pleading instead of fierce. "Save... save me. I can't die yet. I need revenge."

Seeing his murderous intent fade, Emily felt relieved but remembered the events from a few months ago.

She had tricked Bella into a mental hospital and set it on fire, hoping to escape before Edward arrived and make him suffer the pain of losing his love.

But Bella had been rescued.

After that, Emily had planned a fake death, but an accident occurred, and she couldn't escape in time, ending up like this.

Though she was saved by pre-arranged people, Emily was now half a vegetable, and the person who saved her...

Emily glanced at the doctor beside her, shivering slightly.

The doctor stood up, pleased. "Alright, then you better recover quickly. I'm looking forward to the day you take revenge on Vanguard Innovations Group."
