Chapter 99 99
CHAPTER NINETY-NINE
AURORA'S P.O.V
"Aurora? Wh...what do you mean?" He sputtered, his eyes darting to and from.
I walked closer, gritting my teeth.
"I know you know something. You're hiding something. I could feel it when I asked you about him and I heard you after I left. Tell me right now. Where is he?"
He shook his head, letting out a sigh.
"I'm sorry Aurora, but I can't tell you now."
"Why can't you tell me?"
"He said not to tell you until after..." He quickly slapped a hand against his mouth.
"What is it? Tell me." I was practically leaning down his table right now, my nose flaring as I glared down at me, even I was shocked by my behavior but, oh well.
He hesitated, looking like he was seriously deliberating his choices. My consistent stare at him made him groan and finally give up.
"He said I shouldn't tell you where he went to until after two days."
"T...two days?"
"Yes." He bit his lower lip. "To give him enough time leave and reach his destination."
I felt my legs weaken so I hurriedly too a seat, exhaling and inhaling gradually. Warning bells blasted loudly in my head about what he just told me.
"Go on. So he left? Where is he going to?"
Slowly, painfully so, he replied.
"To your pack...to meet Desmond."
A loud gasp escaped me.
"What!" I let out a loud shriek, jumping to my feet and slamming my fists on his table. When I pulled my hand back, a fist sized dent was left on its surface but of course, I didn't care.
"Lucian did what? He's going to our pack? To meet Desmond? What was he thinking? Desmond is only going to get him killed! He should know that!"
"I know that. I warned him but he wouldn't listen."
"He didn't?"
"Yeah, he says it was for the best and the only plan he could think of."
"Then why didn't he tell me?"
"Because, he said he..."
"Said what?"
He groaned, rubbing his face as he muttered.
"I don't know why I'm even helping the guy. He's literally my rival."
"Alpha Kieran!" I snapped, annoyed.
"Right." then in a soft voice, "He didn't want to say goodbye to you...because he's afraid it might be the last goodbye."
I turned away from him, grabbing my hair in my fists.
"That's just stupid, he could have thought of something better, safer. Not this dangerous that could get him killed and then he'll...he'll..."
He walked around the table and arrived at my side, placing a warm hand on my back.
"What is it?"
A choked sob burst out from me. My heart was hurting, it felt like I couldn't breath. My eyes filled with tears as I just realized something.
"He'll leave me." I love him. I love Lucian. "He'll die and leave me alone."
He shook his head, using a hand to bring my face up to stare at him.
"But he won't...leave you, that is. And even if he does, I'll be here with you."
I let out a scoff.
"Thanks, but you're not my mate."
He was silent for a few seconds.
"But..." He began but I wasn't in the mood to listen to him or anybody right now. I cleaned my tears and stood straight, out of his reach.
"I need to go to him."
"No, Aurora you can't."
I glared at him, my eyes hot, he flinched and stepped back, a guarded look on his face.
"I'm going to find my mate and help him the way I can. If he's going to risk his life then I should be there to, so that we can risk our lives together and maybe die together." I can't lose him now, not when I just discovered my feelings.
He rushed to block the door, making a calming motion with his hands.
"Get out of my way."
"Please listen to me. He told me not to let you know until after two days for a reason."
That stopped me, I looked at him.
"What reason?"
He let out a relieved breath.
"According to his plan, he intends to let Desmond put him in the dungeon then I'll distract him while he frees the people Desmond locked. And when everyone is out, that's when the real battle with Desmond can start. Together with your pack and my pack, we will fight him."
"It's...actually a good idea." I frowned, "Still too dangerous."
"He said you will know when to tell us to go to your pack to cause the distraction. You are coming with us."
"Of course I'm coming to fight, no doubt about that. But what does he mean that I will know when to cause the distraction?"
He shrugged, looking clueless.
"I have no idea but..." He pressed his lips then continued. "...I think it has to do with the mate bond."
I quirked an eyebrow at him.
"Our mate bond?"
He nodded slowly, a hard expression on his face.
"Yes, your...mate bond."
I let out a deep breath then slowly walked to the chair and plopped down on it. I leabed my head down on the table.
"So, I just have to wait here and do nothing until I feel whatever he said I should feel?"
"Yes."
I groaned softly.
"I should be mad at him. I am mad at him but...he was thinking about me and the future of the pack. So I'll forgive him, right after I make him pay for it. Because we are surviving this damn war."
"That's the spirit Aurora." He beamed at me, I smiled back, a smile that didn't quite reach my eyes.
"Thanks, and sorry for any rudeness I showed earlier."
"It's okay, you were pretty mad and intense, scared me a bit."
I winced, scratching the back of my neck.
"Sorry, I'll be off now. Waiting."
He looked like he still wanted to say something but then he shook his head.
"Oh, um...sure. Seriously you later."
I nodded at him then made my way out of his office, heading for my room. My mind raced in circles as I wondered aloud.
"How will I even know the feeling when I get it? Lucian, you better know what you're doing. Please."
