CHAPTER SEVENTY-NINE
LUCIAN'S P.O.V
I had been fitfully sleeping when suddenly my phone rang, waking me up from my sleep. Groggily, my hand shot out and brought the phone to my face. From what I could tell of the time, it was already nine in the morning. I yawned then checked to see who could be calling me at a time like this but it showed no name. Skeptically, I picked the call and answered.
"Hello."
"Lucian!"
I sat up immediately, the sleep gone from my eyes.
"Mom?"
"Lucian." She gasped my name, "How are you?"
"I...I'm fine mom, how are you? Has that bastard done anything to you? What's happening in the Pack?"
"That's why I'm calling you. He's coming Lucian. He's coming to the pack where you are staying right now and he intends to kill you and take Aurora with him." She sounded frantic.
"Are you sure?".
"Of course! I heard him last night with his men while he was in his office, I snuck out."
"Then we need to leave here immediately." I stood up, about to go call Aurora.
"You're too late! He already left this morning before daylight. He should be arriving with his men soon. Lucian, you have to get ready and fight. Please." She cried.
My grip on the phone tightened so hard that I heard the case cracking.
"What about Griffin?"
"He put him and his mate in the dungeon."
"What?"
"Yes, I don't know how he got ahold of his whereabouts, but they are now in the dungeon."
"That son of a bitch!" My eyes turned red as I roared. "I'm going to kill him!"
"Lucian, please calm down. I...." There was some cracking frequency, I couldn't here her.
"Mom! Mom are you there?"
Her voice came back but only in bits, I could barely catch what she was saying."....find you.....I can't....speak for long....please....Aurora....protect her....love you...son..." And the line went dead.
"Mom." I whispered staring at the phone. "I love you too."
My door suddenly opened and Aurora rushed in, still in her pajamas and her hair, a bird's nest.
"What is it? I heard your voice from my room?" She asked worried.
"We have trouble." I told her as I dragged her hand and rushed down.
"Alpha Samuel! Eli! Jake!" I yelled.
"What are you doing?" She asked in panic.
In no time, the three men plus Mirabel and Shawn had rushed down. Alpha Samuel saw the expression on my face and asked.
"What is it?"
"Desmond is on his way here as,we speak."
Everyone gasped, including Aurora.
"How do you know?" She tugged my hand.
"Mom called to let me know. She said he moved at the start of morning with his men."
"What's his plan?" Eli growled.
"To kill me then take Aurora."
They hissed.
"How did he find out we were here? No one could have told him?" Aurora asked, her voice trembling.
Eli gave me a pointed look, I swallowed and turned to face her.
"He knew a long time ago. He even sent a message to warn them that he already knew we were here."
She gasped, her eyes darting to mine.
"When did he send the message?"
I took a deep breath, I knew this day would come but this is hard.
"The day Ryder came here, that was the message he brought with him. Desmond had told his father to give Alpha Samuel the message."
"And you didn't tell me? Why?"
"I...I didn't because...", I sighed, "I was feeling selfish."
"What?"
"That day, you were smiling. It's been a while since I saw you smile like that. I didn't want that smile gone in an instant so I held the message for later."
"So you kept it from me, when we could have left here since and save them the trouble of having him attack their pack! You were being so bloody selfish!" She screamed, tears pouring down her face.
"Yes, I know and I'm sorry. Really sorry, please forgive me."
She only made a choking sound as she covered her face, her shoulders trembling. I slowly pulled her into my chest, she didn't resist, thank goodness.
"He also has Griffin and Talia in his dungeon."
She stiffened and snapped her face to stare at me, her eyes were red and puffy.
"What? Talia? Griffin?"
"Yes, mom told me."
She started sobbing again. "I hate him. I hate him so much."
"What do you intend to do now?" Alpha Samuel asked.
I turned to stare at him, my shoulders straight.
"I know leaving is not going to stop him so I intend to stay here and fight. I'm letting you know now in case you would like to move your people away from here before he comes."
Alpha Samuel snorted and placed his hands behind his back, his frame standing tall and strong. Eli, Jake and Shawn went to stand behind him, their faces stoic.
With a loud voice, he declared.
"We of the Whitefang pack are never cowards and we will not start today. We promised we will stand with you, so let us stand with you. Let him come, we shall fight, even if its to the death."
I bowed my head to him, my right fist on my chest.
"Thank you, and I shall fight to my very best."
"Me too."
Aurora spoke, her voice loud with conviction as she placed her hand on her chest too. She stared at me, her eyes bright with tears.
"Don't try to stop me Lucian, let me do this for the sake of my sanity."
I swallowed and nodded slowly.
"Okay, just don't get hurt."
"I won't." She nodded.
"And I'm fighting too." Mirabel yelled, when her father and brothers, including her mate tried to argue, she held up a hand to stop them.
"Save it, you're not going to convince me to not fight. If this is the only battle I ever fight in, then so be it. I can't be an alpha with no fighting experience." She raised her chin.
The men had to nod with resigned sighs. I smiled and nodded at her.
"Thank you."
"So..." Alpha Samuel cracked his knuckles, a smirk on his face. "...where do we start froV
?"
