Chapter 34 34
CHAPTER THIRTY-FOUR
AURORA'S P.O.V
"Here..." I brought out the book carefully from my jacket and handed it to him.
He took the book, his eyes staring at me in question.
"I found that in the library yesterday, I know what my people are. And how they died." I said softly, then shrugged, "Though I still don't know everything, but its a start."
"How long has this been in that library, its so old and fragile." He wondered as he turned the book over in his hands.
It was funny how the book looked even tinier in his large hands, I quickly stifled a giggle that threatened to come out. He had an intense look on his face as he read through, nodding every once in a while and making soft humming sounds. I made no sound nor movement, I didn't want to risk distracting him.
"Wow, such a history. I'm glad you know about your people now but why did you tell me?" He asked after he was done, his face a bit puzzled.
I sighed.
"Because...for once, I trust you."
His face that had been serious suddenly went soft and his eyes glistened.
"Really? You...you trust me?"
I frowned at him, I didn't want to say it twice.
"I just said I did, don't make me take it back."
"Sorry, please continue." He coughed slightly but I could still see the way he bounced on his toes, this emmited a chuckle from me.
"Okay, where was I? Yeah. I trust you not to tell anyone especially your father. I had an experience yesterday that showed me things..." I swallowed slowly. "...death, fire, screaming." I shuddered, rubbing my hands in an up and down motion.
He had a concerned look on his face.
"Aurora."
"I'm fine. What I'm trying to say is, that I trust you will keep my secret and maybe help me until I awaken my power and maybe even after that." While I still think about Alpha Kieran's offer to follow him. I didn't say it out loud of course. I knew I was being selfish here, but I felt it was for the best. You can't count all your eggs before they hatch, you know.
"I promise, Aurora, I will keep your secret and keep you safe. Anytime you need or want anything from me, I'll be here." He hit his chest bravely.
I nodded at him, a relieved smile on face.
"Thank you, I really appreciate it." I was about to leave but then I remembered. "And also..." I glanced at the book he was holding. "...please get rid if it or keep it hidden with you. You can even help me out it back in the library. You're more qualified to go in there openly than I am. I was just snooping around last night."
"Sure, I think its best if I just return it. You never know if he might suddenly notice it's missing."
"You're right, alright, bye now. Later." I waved him off, leaving him in the midst of trees and singing birds.
I was on my way to school when I got a call.on my phone.
"Hello."
"Aurora! how are you?"
"Clara?" My ex boss. We sounded way too cheerful.
"Yeah it's me. Listen, I was wondering if we could have a little chat?"
"Why?"
"You'll find out."
"Alright, when?"
"Today, if you're free."
I thought for a while, after class, I literally had nothing else to do, so why not.
"Sure, I'll text you when I'm coming."
"Lovely, bye."
I ended the call and continued on my way. I have no idea why she wanted to see me. Could it be a problem that happened while I was still working there? I hope not? I don't have any money to fix anything.
At that very moment, I received a message.
"Wow, class has been shifted for later?"
Great! Now I can go see Clara and get this over with. I sent a quick text to her, letting her know I was on my way. She replied quickly, saying no problem.
So I rushed quickly to the bar, my former work place. As I stepped in the bar, overwhelming, thick smells of body and sweat rushed into my nose, making me grimace. The place was as noisy as ever, men drinking while chatting loudly. At least, it still looked the same, not much difference, except...
"Why are they all staring at me?" I whispered to myself in a confused voice. Because as soon as everyone noticed me, they suddenly went still and quiet, customers and even the waiters. And they were all staring at me with such focus that it felt unerving.
"Okay...whatever's happening is none of my concern." I hissed out, letting a snarl from my lips before rushing towards Clara's office. I wasn't even worried when I pushed open her door and ran in, shutting the door so fast as if I was being chased.
"Whew! That was scary." I panted as I rested my back against the door.
"Goodness! Aurora! You scared me!" I heard Clara's voice as she exclaimed.
"I'm sorry, I just had to run in here."
She shook her head, plastering a big smile onto her face as she stood up. Her hair was styled in a curly wave and left to float down her back. Red lips and a too tight body hugging gown. The smell of strong perfume hit my bose before she even reached ne. Men, my nose is definitely going to hurt afyer this. Was it date night or what?
"It's alright, you don't have to apologize. I'm the one who's sorry for not being there to greet you."
"Huh?" I frowned at her, my eyes and mouth wide open. "Are...are you talking to me?" I pointed to my chest.
She laughed, loud.
"Of course I'm talking to you. Who else would I be talking to."
I narrowed my eyes at her.
"Alright, spit it out. What is it?"
"What do you mean?" She asked, her lower lip trembling while her left eyelid twitched slightly. She was definitely hiding something.
"Really?" I raised an eyebrow, my voice cold. "You want something from me, say it."
"What makes you think I need something from you?"
I gave her a knowing look as my answer, she slumped her shoulders, the smile slipping off her face.
"Fine, yes, you're right. I do need something from you."
I crossed my hands over my chest and smirked.
"What is it?"
She suddenly clasped her haves together and stared into my eyes.
"Can you please come back?"
