CHAPTER TWENTY-TWO
LUCIAN'S P.O.V
"Why does your dad want to have dinner with us, especially me? Is this normal, does he want to kill me slowly? Do you know what he is planning? Why do I have to go? You know I get he is the alpha but I do not want to die. Can I disobey him just for today? I'm asking you, Lucian!!"
For the umpteenth time I sighed as well walked to the dinning room while suffering her barrage of panicked questions.
"I don't know why he wants to have dinner with us, or you. I don't think he can actially kill you in public, neither do I know what he is planning. And you have to go because he is your alpha, you have no choice of disobeying. And please calm down, I'm with you, if he tries anything, I'll be there to protect you. Okay?"
She closed her eyes as we stopped at the entrance, after taking a deep breath, she nodded and clenched her fists.
"Okay, let's do this."
I raised my fists, "Let's go."
As soon as we entered the large quiet dinning room, I did a double take and glanced at Aurora, she stared back at me with question in her eyes.
"Ah, you two have arrived. Come take your seats." Dad smiled cheerfully at us. It freaked me out, this was the first time in a long time I assumed seeing him ile this way.
"What is he planning now?" Aurora whispered, her eyes trained on dad.
"I have no idea, I never knew we would have guests. His smile alone is already fishy. Keep your eyes open."
She nodded quietly.
There were two additional persons at the table. Kieran and another young lady who had a slight smile on her lips.as if she found something funny.
As we moved to seat, dad pointed to the seat beside the woman.
"Sit here Lucian..." Then he pointed to the seat beside Kieran as he spoke in a low voice to Aurora. "...you can stay here."
"But..."
I made to protest but then Aurora had already sat beside him as she greeted him with a nervous smile.
"Okay, now that we are seated, I would like to introduce you to someone."
He smiled and turned to the lady.
"This is Mirabel White, daughter of Alpha White of the White Fang pack and Mirabel, this is my son, Lucian, the future alpha of this pack."
She turned towards me and flashed a bright smile at me, her brown eyes shone with interest as she held out her hand.
"Nice to meet you, Lucian."
I felt uncomfortable especially since Aurora was silently watching me.
"Hi, nice to meet you too."
I let go of her hand as quickly as I took it. Soon, the table was covered with a variety of dishes, the scents rising from the dishes were so good that I was already drooling.
He didn't elaborate much on Aurora and Kieran's introduction.
"Alpha Kieran, I'm sure you are acquainted with her and she with you, so let's eat."
We began eating, the sounds of cutleries knocking against the plates were the only sound in the room. I could see that Aurora was very nervous as she kept picking at her food and darted her eyes to dad every now and then.
"Are you not okay with your food?"
Kieran suddenly asked her softly, his body leaning towards her. She shook her head in a hurry.
"Oh no, I'm fine. Thanks for asking."
I growled low in my chest, everyone stared at me, sheepishly I ducked my head and kept on eating. Why was he acting too close with her.
After a few more minutes had passed, dad cleared his throat.
"Lucian, I brought Mirabel here because I intend her to be your mate."
My fork clattered to the ground with a loud clang, "What?"
"And I also intend for Alpha Kieran to take Aurora as his."
"Excuse me?"
This time it was Aurora's turn to drop her glass of water to the ground.
I glanced at Kieran to gauge his reaction, a flash of surprise crossed his features but then he quickly schooled it into a mask of indifference. As for Mirabel, she looked pleased as she grinned at me.
"I will be honored to be your future mate."
I glared at her and looked at dad.
"What do you mean by that dad, you know Aurora is my mate. Why would you bring another woman for me and tell someone else to take my mate as his. This better be a joke."
"I already told you that I will never accept her as your mate, this is the best I can do for you." He answered casually as he wiped his lips.
I growled loudly.
"Bullshit, you are just doing that because of your hate for her..."
"Well I don't mind talking her as my mate..."
Kieran began softly glancing at Aurora.
I leaned down, my hands flat on the table and growled at him.
"You better shut your damn mouth if you don't want me to shut it for you."
I quickly glanced at her as a rough cough escaped her lips, her face was red as she pressed her hand against her chest.
"Aurora say something, you shouldn't keep quiet on this." Kieran ignored me and urged her.
She kept on coughing, I frowned as I noticed that something wasn't right.
"Aurora?" I called softly.
She suddenly began to cough more loudly and stronger, her body shook with the coughs racking her body.
Alarm sped through me as I stood up and rounded the table to her.
"Aurora!!"
Black blood suddenly poured out from her mouth like a gush of water, panic pierced through my chest. I reached just in time to catch her slumping form, Kieran in tow.
"Aurora!!!"
Kieran and I both yelled her name frantically, her body felt limp in my hands. The blood on lips and jaw contrasted with her deathly pale complexion and her lips looked white.
"What did you do to her?"
I roared as I looked at dad. His face was white as he stood there watching while shaking his head side to side.
"Is she breathing, what's wrong with her?" Kieran asked, his voice laced with panic as he tried to touch her but I quickly moved her body away from him.
"This...this wasn't supposed to happen."
We heard dad muttering so we turned to face him. He looked shocked, more shocked than I've ever seen him, his face was totally pale.
"It wasn't supposed to be like this."
My eyes clouded with anger.
"So you did something...you bastard!"
I dropped Aurora and rushed to grab him by the neck.
"What did you do? Tell me?"
I shook him but he made no move to say anything.
"Lucian..."
I heard a shaky voice call me, I turned.
Kieran looked like all the blood had been drained from his face.
"Her heart has stopped beating!"
