Chapter 173 173
CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND SEVENTY-THREE
AURON'S P.O.V
Elder Mikhail's voice boomed across the clearing, he pulled off his mask in an angry motion. Revealing his weathered face which was twisted in anger and rage as veins popped on his forehead and neck. He stopped just a few distance away from me and repeated again, his face red.
"Alpha Auron, what is going on here?" He could barely keep his voice its normal calm and respectful tone.
The men, who had been celebrating just a moment before, fell silent and turned to look at him with guarded loose, I could see the fear in their eyes. Why didn't I notice that before? I stood tall, my eyes locked on his.
"Ah, Elder Mikhail," I said, my voice calm. "I'm glad you arrived. I was just making some changes around here which I felt was much needed, what do you think?"
His gaze swept across the clearing, taking in the men without their masks and cloaks. His eyes narrowed, and his face turned red, his eyes going wide with rage, I don't think I ever saw him this angry, especially at anything I did.
"You allowed them take off their masks and cloaks in front of you?"
"Yes."
He looked behind me, sighting Derek and Gail.
"And what about those two? What are they doing standing behind you?"
I shrugged.
"Oh Derek and Gail?"
"You know their names too?" He growled.
"Yes." I smiled triumphantly. "They are my betas from now on."
"You fool!" he spat. "What have you done? You've undone everything we've worked for!"
"Don't you dare speak to our alpha like that!" Derek growled at him taking a threatening step forward, this made him to stare at Derek in shock.
I almost laughed but hid it and instead placed a hand on his shoulder to assure him. He nodded at me and took a step back.
I took a step closer to Elder Mikhail, an eyebrow raised, intrigued.
"And what exactly have we worked for, Elder Mikhail? The oppression of our my men? The bondage that my selfishness which wa encouraged by you caused? The fear and mistrust pf me that has been bred into them?"
He frowned, his upper lip trembling.
"What are you talking about? All of that was necessary."
I raised an eyebrow.
"Necessary for who? You?"
His face twisted in a snarl as he clenched just hands innto tight fists.
"You don't understand, Auron. You're just a foolish young alpha who doesn't know what's good for him. I've been working for the good of this pack, for its survival."
I laughed, a cold, hard sound. "Wow! So you finally said it huh? I'm just a young, foolish alpha?" I stepped closer, almost to his face, my eyes gleaming in anger. "Survival? You call this survival? With the way they were living, this wasn't a pack, instead it was a prison. For both them and me. You saw this, I'm sure you could see this but you made me blind to it and kept on with whatever you were doing to the pack. And in my name. In my name you punished people for meager things, in my name you gave orders for this that were not even an offense to me, and you never even told me about it. Is this survival? I'm asking you?" I roared.
He stepped back, unable to say anything as his gaze darted back and forth, his eyes wild. He licked his weathered lips.
"So what do you want to do now? You want to ruin everything you've worked for? The respect, the prestige, the power? Come on, you've gone to far for that. All we just need is the powers from your sister and you will be at the top."
I scoffed, the glint in my eyes mischievous.
The men, sensing the tension, began to stir. They moved closer to me, their eyes still fixed on Elder Mikhail but this time not with fear but with anger.
"Power, power, power." I sang slowly, shooting him a side glance. "It was all you ever talked about the first few years after you found me. I should have understood that you didn't care about me getting the power, you wanted the power for yourself."
He narrowed his eyes, "What are you getting at Auron, I don't understand what's going on?"
I smiled at him.
"Don't worry, soon you will. Derek!"
"Yes Alpha." He answered immediately comig to stand in front of me, I didn't even care that he didn't say my name.
With my eyes still on Elder Mikhail, I told him.
"Take him to a locked room, maybe sure the room is fully locked and secure. On no account should he be let outside, his room has to stay guarded until I get back."
"Yes Alpha."
Elder Mikhail looked at me, shock and confusion on his face as he tried to move out of Derek's reach.
"What? Wait! You can't lock me up! I refuse to be treated as a criminal. Auron, I am your elder! I helped make you who you are! You wouldn't be here if it weren't for me!" He yelled desperately as Derek and three other men dragged him off. "You can't do this to me! I'll make you pay for this!" his eyes stayed on me the whole time,
I said nothing as I continued to stare until he was gone from my sight.
"I don't think so." I muttered under my breath.
Then I turned to Gail, who was watching the scene with interest, and excited gleam in his eyes. This must be most interesting event he was experiencing since staying in this pack.
"Gail, call this number." I handed him a piece of paper with a number scribbled on it.
Gail took the paper, his eyes curious. "Who is this, Auron?"
I smiled, a cold smile. "Just call it, Gail. And tell them that its time."
Gail nodded and took out his phone, dialing the number. I turned and walked away, heading towards the researching den. Time to unravel the whole myster of the research Elder Mikhail had people working on.
