CHAPTER SEVENTEEN
AURORA'S P.O.V
Having no choice, he gritted his teeth and stepped back, his fists clenched. I could see the frustration on his face at being unable to do anything.
"Aurora, you have to escape for my sake, please." Lucian gasped out, barely keeping his eyes open.
I took huge gulps of air to clear my head from the pain, my eyes watered at the sight of him. Though he was in severe pain, he still cared about me, I didn't know how to feel about that. But I knew one thing, and that was that I wasn't going to let this bitch get away with this.
"Wolf...." I whispered under my breath to my wolf. We had never had a normal conversation anyway, I still didn't know her name. But I needed her now, more than ever. "...today is the day I need you. Please lend me your strength."
I whispered under my breath.
'As you wish', she replied softly.
I felt a strange surge of strength in my bones.
Suddenly, I found myself running fast, the next thing I knew.
"Arrrrrgh...Take this you damn bitch!...oooff!"
I had flung my body towards her, hard. I felt her body hit the ground with a thud as she groaned. The wooden doll or figurine slipped away from her and landed a few feet away from me. Immediately, I felt a surge of relief from the biting pain, it felt like something was returning to my body again, even Lucian breathed out in relief.
"Untie him!" I yelled to Griffin.
A noise caught my attention, I sighted the knife just between us, the woman was trying to get it. She glanced at me and I glanced back at her, anger shone in her eyes, I smirked at her.
With my gaze on the knife, I made a back flip and kicked her away, she groaned at the impact while I quickly snatched the knife and held it in front me.
"Ha! Not so fast, make any sudden moves and you get it."
She growled at me and tried to move.
"She said...stay put."
Lucian walked towards us as he growled out his command.
"Damn!"
I softly whispered under my breath as I watched him come closer. This was the first time I was seeing him naked, and he was glorious. Forget that he had just been in severe pain and looked a few minutes away from fainting. His body was glowing with that sweat and his pecs! His pecs were eight, I think right? His whole body literally radiated power and sex appeal.
Calm down! I tried caution but my wolf was losing it.
"Like what you see?"
"Huh?"
I snapped my gaze back up to see he was standing in front of me, a smirk on his face, his eyes shinning. My face immediately went hot, he caught me.
"Um...no! De...definitely not. I wasn't doing anything." I squeaked.
He came closer, in my space and leaned down. In my flushed state I didn't know how to react, the next thing I felt was something warm on my lips and forehead.
I blinked furiously. "Did...did you just?"
He smiled this time, a genuine smile that did something to my insides.
"Thank you, for coming to find me."
A shaky nod was the only thing I could manage.
Everything went fast, we took the young woman with us, her mouth giggled and her hands tied. I also found out she was called Vivian.
Because I didn't want to shift and show my wolf again, I convinced Griffin and Lucian to go rummage for clothes like me. Griffin gave me a pointed look and smiled. I shrugged, after that time he had stood still like a statue, staring at me in my wolf form. I had growled at him never to say anything, I just prayed he would keep his words.
"Alright guys, I'll leave from here."
I called out softly once we had reached an intersection that lead to Talia's house. Lucian turned to look at me with intense eyes. It felt strange, it suddenly felt like the mate bond got tighter or was it my imagination? I suddenly felt a yearning for him I didn't want to be feeling, and I think he was feeling the same too.
"So um...", he licked his lips, I followed the motion. "Thanks for coming to rescue me, I really needed it."
I nodded and lowered my head.
"Its okay, I didn't do it alone. Griffin...he was the person who did most."
Griffin snorted, a grin on his lips.
"I don't think so."
I sighed and rolled my eyes.
"Um...see you later?"
He nodded, "Yeah, see you later."
I started walking away then I stopped and turned around, he was still watching me, Vivian was still glaring at me with the gag on her mouth.
"And by the way, I wanted to apologize."
His brows wrinkled, I ducked my head, this was hard.
"That day....the things I said. I didn't mean them, I guess I was just too angry and scared. So bye."
After a brief wave, I walked off as fast as I could until they were no longer in my vision before breaking into a fast run. I arrived in front of Talia's house in less than ten minutes.
"Thank goodness! There you are, where have you been the whole day? You had me almost wanted to call the cops you know."
She had been pacing on the porch and now had to run down to meet me. I grabbed her in a light hug.
"I'm fine, something urgent came up."
She rolled her eyes as she dragged me in.
"What could be so urgent that you didn't call or text me?"
I inclined my head and whispered.
"Well, I just helped saved the future alpha."
"The future alpha?" She frowned, her lips pursed.
"Yes, you may not believe it but Lucian had been held captive by a crazy lady intent on making him her mate. And it had been Griffin and I who helped save him."
She stared at me with unblinking eyes.
"Are you really serious?"
"Very serious."
"But how? You have got to tell me everything..."
Suddenly, a loud knock sounded on the door. We both stared at each other.
"Are you expecting any guests?"
"No, I'm not." She replied back with a puzzled look on her face.
"Open up! By order of the alpha!"
