CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY-TWO
AURORA'S P.O.V
Just as I was enjoying the moment, Lucian's voice whispered in my ear, his voice soft but serious.
"Get ready, the plan will soon take off."
I nodded almost imperceptibly, my heart starting to beat faster. I had almost forgotten about that, I guess you lose yourself when you are having fun. A cold chill settled on my lower stomach and I couldn't stop squeezing his hand. He looked down at me and smiled reassuringly, his hair no longer styled from before but not ruffled and gave him this slightly rugged look which I loved.
"You're going to be fine, I promise we'll be watching. I'll be watching in case anything goes wrong."
I nodded, blowing out a deep, nervous breath.
"I know, I just...I'm just nervous."
Just as he was about to say something, someone came to stand in front of me, a have stretched out. I looked up to see that it was Kieran, he had a slight smile on his lips and his eyes were warm.
"Kieran?" I called his name softly.
"Would you care for a dance?"
"A dance?" I looked at Lucian, unsure, he sighed but nodded.
"There's nothing wrong with a brother wanting to dance with his sister."
I frowned, watching him in confusion as he stepped back, his eyes fixed narrowly on Kieran.
"What did he mean by that?" I asjedwith a cock of my head.
Kieran shook his head with a fed up roll of his eyes.
"You don't have to worry about him. Can I have this dance, please."
I smiled up at him, taking his hand as we began to dance, I didn't mind this, it was good enough to get my mind off what was soon to happen. He held my waist with some much tenderness, almost as if he was afraid to crush me, I almost giggled but I didn't. Then he began moving and I followed him, not quite looking into his eyes but smiling at him.
But just as we started to move, a server suddenly stumbled, pouring wine all over someone's dress. The tray fell to the ground with a loud crash, the glasses of wine tumbled to the ground breaking into pieces. There was screaming and the chaos and vonfusion. Kieran's hold tightened on my waist then released again, he stared at me wuth a grim abd uneasy look in his eyes.
"I guess its show time."
I nodded, licking my lips that had suddenly gone dry, he nodded once then moved away slowly. I felt a jolt of nervousness, but I knew the plan was in motion. Lucian's eyes met mine, and I saw the flash of nervousness in them, I smiled to assure him. I was ready. According to our plan, a crowd had now formed around the server and the lady screaming about her dress, no one was me any attention. I just stood by myself pretending to observe the situation when I felt a strong hand calmly over my mouth and another arm wrapping around my waist.
Auron?
I knew instinctively that he was the one but I pretended not to know and began to struggle against him.
"Keep quiet, or you die," his deep voice whispered in my ear.
A wave of fear rushed through me, but I knew I had to stay calm so I relaxed my body and let him drag me off. He swiftly dragged me towards the back of the party hall, away from the chaos. Just as we reached the back door, just a few distance from opening the door, something hard made a thud sound against his head. He made a groaning sound then his hold on me lessened as he fell to the ground unconscious. I turned to see Jake and Kale standing over his body, their faces hard, Kake looked up at me. His worried eyes ran over my body with concern.
"Are you okay? Did he hurt you?"
My legs suddenly felt like jelly so leaned myself against the wall as I shook my head, panting with relief.
"No, he didn't hurt me. Thanks you guys, you did it."
"We did it." Jake nodded, clenching his fist as he stared down at Auron. He was wearing his mask again.
"Its Auron." I told him, he looked at me, his voice unsure.
"You're sure its him?"
"Yes I am. I could feel it "
Kale bent down and stretched his hand over to the mask.
"To be sure, not that I doubt you or anything, I'll just take off his mask."
I shrugged, this was a standard procedure, why would I take offense?
Kale pulled off the mask, revealing Auron's face.
He stopped short, his eyes focused on his face. Beside him, Jake whistled, also bending to look at him.
"Wow," he looked up at me and back at Auron. "Its like you guys are twins."
"Dude, they are twins." Kale answered as he sighed and raised his eyes to the ceiling before shooting me a look.
"And you thought it would be nice to pair him with me."
I giggled.
"You guys are so much alike in personality, that's why."
He scoffed, then went back to looking at his face.
"Its like looking in a mirror, you guys are definitely twins, there's no denying it."
I sighed mournfully.
"I know, and yet he doesn't care about that."
They both stood straight.
"Let's hope after today, his image of you will change."
"I hope so. Where's Mirabel and Eli? They should be with the potion." I wondered aloud with my hands on my hips.
Just as I said that, we heard the clicking of heels and shoes and they arrived round the corner, running towards us.
"We're here. Sorry for the late arrival. We were trying to find the way here." Mirabel gushed out, fanning herself with her hands, hair ruffled and her dress bunched at her knees.
Eli nodded, wiping the sweat from his brow.
"Yeah, next time, give us the shortcut or plan to this place. We ran into multiple wrong corridors before getting here."
"It's okay, what matters is that you're here. Now where's the potion?"
