Chapter 150 150
CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY
AURORA'S P.O.V
Strange, I couldn't help wondering if Silver was the unofficially agreed color for our dress code, because almost everyone had something silver on them. Then, last bit not the least, Jake, he wore a dark gray suit with a fitted jacket and trousers, paired with a light blue shirt and a silver tie. He left his hair in a rugged, handsome look, and a silver cufflink on his wrist. Silver again, we definitely did agreed without speaking, but its actually nice. We looked like one bad ass family that no one could mess with.
"Well aren't we just the best ever dressed hosts of a party? Ever?" Talia couldn't help but hype us.
"Yes we are."
"Couldn't agree more."
"Nothing can beat how fresh I look, man, I'm ready for the ladies. Ladies get ready, I'm coming to sweep you off your feet." Jake yelled, pumping his fists in the air.
"Before you guys get carried away, remember we have a mission." Lucian spoke seriously, ending the chat. "We should all keep our eyes open for anyone strangers, I know already have people doing that for us, but let's be guarded. Okay?"
"Got you. Let's do this thing. Mirabel, you have the potion?" Eli asked.
She tapped a spot at her waist, a grin on her face.
"Secured and ready."
Lucian took a deep breath, holding my hand tight, I squeezed back
"Alright, let's do this."
As we approached the party hall, the sound of laughter and music grew louder, and I could feel the nervousness building inside me. Lucian squeezed my hand, his eyes locked on mine.
"Ready?"
I nodded, taking a deep breath. "Let's do this. Let's get Auron."
"Let's have fun." He whispered.
We pushed open the doors, and the crowd turned to face us. The room was a whirlwind of color and sound, with guests mingling and dancing in the aisles. The air was thick with the scent of roses and fresh linen, and the sound of laughter and music filled the air.
As we entered, the room fell silent, all eyes on us. I felt a flutter in my chest, but Lucian's hand on my back was reassuring.
Before they left us to go mingle in the crowd, Lucian gave them the signal that meant keep your eyes open.
We made our way through the crowd, smiling and nodding to the guests.
"So we are really doing this huh?" I gritted through my teeth, my cheek straining from my constant smiling.
"Yes we are, and so far, you are doing a great job."
My eyes roamed the hall carefully, I couldn't see anyone dressed suspiciously or looking strange. I really hope he takes the bait, or this would have all been for nothing. Not that celebrating me us nothing, but I really am not built for this kind of stuff. Parties and such.
"Now to meet the Alphas and their mates." Lucian muttered.
I nodded, swallowing and taking a deep breath to get ready for them. As if on cue, the alphas that had been gathered attached far and of the room began making there way with their Lunas. As they smiled and greeted us, I reflexively smiled back, making small talk. There were so many of them that as they were going back, I forgot their faces and they're names, you can't blame me. I might never even see them again.
"Almost over." I congratulated myself on going so far.
But then last alphas, happened to be Alpha Victor and Alpha Ryder, those two bastards that had offered women to Lucian, in my presence. They made their way slowly toward us, having been waiting and eyeing us with interest, wine in each hand while their Lunas on the other.
"Ah. Alpha Lucian, I must say I am happy to be here." Alpha Victor boomed out, his eyes looking sly.
"Same here, Alpha Lucian." Alpha Ryder smiled at me, his eyes lingering too long on my chest.
Lucian cleared his throat forcefully, prompting him to shift back his attention to him.
"I am glad that you were able to honor our invitation." Lucian replied them.
"Yes, thank you for coming to celebrate with us, I hope you have a wonderful time here." I said just for formality.
The older lady on Alpha Victor's side, his Luna, stared at me, her eyes nartowed as she ran her gaze down my dress and back to my face.
She smiked sweetly and strecthed out her slim hand decorated with gold bracelets.
"Luna Aurora, you look stunning," she said, her voice dripping with sweetness. "I didn't know you had such...flair for fashion."
I smiled, feeling a spark of amusement. "Thanks, Luna..." 'Starlight" Lucian supplied through theind link. "Luna Starlight. You look lovely too."
"And your hair, my! I wish I had such a lovely color, especially your eyes, the light dances off them so beautifully."
I blushed by the torrent of her admiration, not sending any I'll will behind her words.
"I am flattered by your praise but let me assure you that your green eyes sparkle like the night sky and compliments you beautifully."
She grinned, her cheeks becoming pink.
"Thank you so much."
Alpha Victor suddenly sneered,
"So, this is your choice, Alpha Lucian? Pretty, but fragile. You could do better with someone stronger."
Lucian tensed and made to speak but I held him back and faced him.
I smiled sweetly, my eyes daring him. "Fragile? I survived Desmond, while you cowards ran with your tails between your legs, I was at the front making my killing. You think you'll survive me? Want to try?"
Alpha Ryder chuckled, his eyes glinting with amusement.
"I see you're not intimidated by the competition, Aurora."
I laughed, feeling a sense of ease wash over me. "I'm not competing with anyone, Ryder, there is no competition here. I'm just here to have a good time."
Alpha Victor, now subdued, lowered his head, his eyes darting around not making eye contact.
"If you'll excuse me, I'll take my mate for a dance."
