CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTEEN
LUCIAN'S P.O.V.
"The pack elders?" I shared a look with Aurora. "Why do they want to see me?"
He shrugged, just as soon as we stepped into the room.
"Why don't you find out for yourself."
We stopped short once we saw that the large sitting room was now crowded with many if not almost all the pack members. Even our friends were here, I could see Jake, Eli, Mirabel and Shawn, all standing together with smiles on their faces. Mirabel pumped her fists up, a bright grin on her face.
"What's happening?" Aurora whispered into my ears.
"I have no idea." I whispered back.
"Do you think they...they know we...we did it...?" She blushed as she asked, not lifting her head up. A smile threatened to force it way on my lips.
"I don't think they do."
"Lucian. Aurora."
We heard mom's voice, she walked towards us, a spring in her step and a warm smile on her lips. She looked healthy and more beautiful now, dressed in a floral dress that reached her ankle with a pair of black pumps on her feet.
"Mom."
"Eleanor. What's going on?"
Aurora asked once she had given her a hug.
"Come, it's time."
She simply replied, taking each of our hands and dragging us to the center of the room where I saw six older men waiting, the elders. I could feel something, like excitement pulsing in the room but for what, I could not tell. My hold on Aurora's hand tightened as I saw them, fear in my chest. I hope they weren't about to fight me for Aurora.
"Lucian."
They all greeted with a smile, bowing their heads low.
"What's going on?" I asked, my eyebrows furrowed in confusion.
The eldest one among them, with a fuzzy white beard and shiny bald head stepped forward, clearing his throat. He faced the crowds and immediately, the buzzing room went deathly silent.
"Today, we gather to reinstate Lucian Vanguh as the alpha of our pack. He has proven himself worthy, and we welcome him back with open arms."
I blinked with surprise, looking at mom, she smiled and nodded at me. Aurora, too stared at me with a grin on her lips. I mean, I knew this was going to happen but I didn't expect it to be this soon. I still had the brand of a rogue one my head.
"So, I'm not longer a rogue?" I asked.
They all shook their heads.
"You were never a rogue, Alpha Lucian. It was just the unfortunate circumstances that made us unable to do anything to help you. And for that we ask for your forgiveness."
It was never their fault, there's no way I would fault them for Desmond'd evil deeds.
"It's okay, you don't have to apologize, now of what happened was any of your fault. Even if you had wanted to help, it would have been impossible."
"Thank you, for understanding, Alpha."
Another elder walked forward, in his hand, he held a necklace that was made with gold chains and intertwined with shapes of wolves and the various cycles of the moon.
"The alpha Ceremonial necklace!" I gasped in shock.
I knew that necklace, it was a symbol of an alpha's power. Desmond had once worn it before, when I was still little. But as I grew up, I didn't see it on him again. Now it was going to be mine.
I felt a surge of pride and responsibility as he placed the ceremonial necklace around my neck, symbolizing my position as alpha. It felt heavy on my neck even though I knew it was as light as a feather. All that was just the weight of the responsibiluties waiting for me now as the alpha. I turned to face the pack, and they all bowed their heads in respect.
Aurora squeezed my hand tightly, staring at me with love in my eyes.
"You will make the perfect alpha, I just know it " she told me.
"You will make the perfect Luna, too."
But I wasn't done yet. I took her hand and pulled her to my side.
"I have an announcement to make," I said, my voice carrying across the room. "Aurora Steel is now my mate, chosen by the moon goddess herself. I expect everyone to treat her with the respect and loyalty she deserves as she is now my luna. "
"Then this will be perfect for her."
Mom stepped forward and took off a delicate but elegant necklace from her purse. It was an exact replica to the one I had on my neck, just much elegant and with a bit of turquoise. Gently, she placed it on her neck, she gently caressed her face, looking at her with love.
"This was mine as the Luna. Now I don't need it anymore, it's yours now."
Aurora stared at her with misty eyes.
"Thank you, mother."
She wrapped her hands around her in a tight hug. My heart felt warm and full from the sight of the two women I loved and were very important in my life, hugging each other so warmly.
The room erupted in cheers and applause, with many of the pack members coming forward to congratulate us. I could see the joy and acceptance in their eyes, and it filled my heart with happiness.
"Ahh! Aurora!"
"I'm so happy for you!"
Talia and Mirabel shrieked like banshees as they ran towards her, taking her up in a tight threesome hug. Aurora smiled radiantly in their grasp.
"You're finally the Luna now. Check this out...Luna Aurora." Talia cheered.
"Beta Talia." Aurora cheered back.
Mirabel joined in.
"I'm so happy for you guys, we can be Beta besties with the Luna."
They screamed again jumping like school girls, everyone who saw them couldn't help but smile as they watched.
"Wheeew! Girls are loud." Jake complained, coming to stand beside me.
"Tell me about it. Congratulations, Alpha " . Eli grinned, slapping me in the back.
"Congratulations." Shawn nodded to me.
I miles warmly at them.
"Thank you. I'm glad you guys were here for this, it wouldn't have felt complete without you guys."
Jake sniffed, pretending to cry.
"Come on man, you have to stop making me feel emotional. I don't like that."
We all burst out laughing, Griffin included. He seemed to have become a bit laid back after mating with Talia, I'm happy for him.
