CHAPTER ELEVEN
AURORA'S P.O.V
"Excuse me?"
"Well...its not like you would actually be my mate. But you could pretend...we could act like mates." He continued.
I blinked multiple times, my mouth wide open staring at him.
"Why?"
"That way you can blend in."
"Why?"
"You would get treated better as my mate."
I swallowed again and reared my head away from him.
"Why?"
He looked defeated at this point as he huffed out a breath and rubbed his face.
"I don't know...I just think you could have a better life with me there."
"I understand coming to your pack but why as your mate? I'm not getting it?"
He shrugged, his eyes on my face as he inched closer, unconsciously, I stepped back. He noticed then sighed, almost sadly and shook his head, moving backwards.
"You're right, I don't know what came over me. I'm..." He bit his lips, his gaze looking conflicted. "...I'm sorry. I shouldn't have dumped that on you, even knowing you have a true mate."
I stayed quiet for a while, he truly looked sorry. I'm sure he was just trying to help, I think I'm being a bit harsh on him.
"Its okay, I'm sorry if I made you feel bad. Alpha."
I remembered to put the title, something about him just makes me forget that he is an alpha.
"I really like your offer."
He grinned, his white teeth shinning.
"But I'm going to have to think about it. Give me some time, no matter how annoying my life here might be, I still have a life. And people or person who cares about me."
My thoughts flicked to Talia and mostly Lucian. Yeah, I didn't want to accept being his mate but that doesn't mean I wanted to disappear so suddenly. I have to find a way to get him to reject me.
"I understand." Alpha Kieran nodded, a grim look in his eyes which he cleared as soon as he smiled at me. "I'll wait for your decision. And don't worry, I was joking about the mate thing, you can just come and start a new life. Get a new job."
I smiled brightly at the idea, it would be nice to be welcomed for once.
"Thank you."
After sending him off, I went back into the bar and kept on working like nothing had happened. But as for the people who were talking shit about me, I made sure they knew I didn't like them, especially when I refused to help them out with their shifts like I normally did.
I just tossed a quick, "Sorry I'm too tired" line and left for home. Serves them right.
My footsteps echoed along the paved road as walked, my thoughts still on the offer Kieran made to me.
Then I suddenly stopped and turned, no one was there, only the only darkness and the star filled sky.
"Strange, I know I felt someone behind me." I muttered.
I kept on walking but had to stop once again because the feeling of being followed was now very strong.
"Is anyone out there?" I called carefully, hiding the trembling in my voice. "Show yourself."
A second passed, three more seconds passed then I felt it. The arrival of more than one person. Strange, I could smell their scents which I hadn't been able to do since I first shifted. Like sharp diesel, their scents hurt my nose,
I couldn't help wrinkling my nose as they enmerged.
"Well, well, well. The young pup can now sense us. I guess the rumors are true." One bulky man growled out as he walked towards me, a smirk on his face.
"Told ya, my source doesn't lie." Another emerged from my right, his black eyes glinting in the dark.
"Why don't we get on with our business instead of talking huh, pretty girl?"
I spun fast to see that another one was almost touching me, I moved away from him.
"Who are you...and...w...what do you want?" My voice went squeaky at the end.
The three men grinned, their brown teeth showing as their eyes roamed my body, I felt so disgusted that I shivered.
"We heard a strange rumor, that you might be the future alpha's mate. And our Luna."
My heart almost jumped out of my chest, how did they find out?
"Now, you are an Omega, we can't let someone like you be our Luna. You have to understand eh?" They all snickered.
"About that, I really don't want to be the Luna as well. I..I even rejected him immediately I found out. So just leave me alone."
"You think an Omega like you can reject an alpha? You must be dreaming girl."
They even seemed more angry at the fact that I rejected him.
"Then what do you want me to do? I told you I already rejected him and gave no interest in becoming the Luna." I yelled out, in full panic.
"Its simple, you just have to die."
"What?" I gasped.
The man in front, seeming to be their leader, gave the other two a look.
"Get her."
"No" I screamed.
I had no idea how it happened but the next thing I knew, I had already shifted. I successfully slipped away and ran into the roadside forest.
"She has white fur?"
"How?!"
"We have to kill her immediately! Don't let her get away!"
I could hear their voices as I ran, they also shifted and began chasing me. I was running as fast as I could, my tongue hanging out from my mouth, paws hitting the earth and lifting back up. Their snarls made me shoot a glance to see how far I had gone.
Not far enough! My wolf screamed, for they were just at my heels.
I increased my speed, to my shock. This was new, I felt I could escape them. But in my relief, one of my paw got tangled in a vine. I lost my footing, and due to my speed, I was sent spiraling forward until I hit my head against a huge boulder. Whimpering, I tried to stand up but the pain was too much and I was already bleeding and my vision going blurry.
The wolves stopped in front of me, the leader, a large brown one. He stalked towards me, a snarl ripping from him, then he crouched and lunged at me.
The last thing I felt were his large fangs on my neck.
