Chapter 109 109
CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND NINE
LUCIAN'S P.O.V
"Favor?" I bit out the word like it was poison in my mouth. "What...how do you think what you just said makes any sense? You want me to let you...ask Aurora...out?"
He shrugged, staring at Aurora as she smiled with Mirabel.
"Call it what you want, but that's what I want."
I squared my shoulders, my jaw tight.
"And if she refuses?"
He hesitated, his eyes solemn as they watched her.
"I'll give up."
I shook my head sharply. This didn't sit right with me, why did I feel unsure? Damn, that Desmond. If only he hadn't put that foolish idea of Aurora not loving me, I wouldn't be so hesitant.
'Don't do it. It might be a trap.' My wolf warned.
Yes, he might be right. And he might also be wrong. It's too ways. I don't thing someone who just helped me to defeat a major enemy would try to hurt me on purpose.
'Is that what you think?' He growled.
Yes. That's what I think.
I took a deep breath and faced him, my eyes firm.
"Fine. If you ask her and she says yes..." I can't believe I'm saying this. "...I'll still fight you over her."
He frowned, "If she says no, I'll let her go and never disturb you."
"You know I really...I really want to ask you a question. But I'll wait until she gives you her answer."
"Fine by me."
"Mom!"
"Lucian!"
"Talia!"
"Aurora!"
Aurora ran to Talia and took her in a tight hug, lifting her from the ground and twirling her around. Their delightful laughs and teary eyes was a sight to behold. I placed my hand on mom's shoulder, her other arm on my waist as well watched them with smiles on our faces.
"I'm so glad your safe and alive for me." Aurora sniffed, her voice watery with tears.
Talia squeezed her back tightly, her eyes closing with emotion.
"I'm glad too, you have no idea how long I've wished to get a glimpse of your face. Don't you ever leave me again! If something like this ever happens again...the goddess forbid, take me with you. You got me."
"Of course. You look so thin, ate you okay? Were you starved, beaten, how dare they? I should have killed them myself." Aurora gritted out with anger.
Stepping back, Talia pat her on the back with a smile.
"I'm okay, now that you are here and he's gone. I'm perfect. But can I say something?"
"Yeah, what is it?"
"Girl! You're killing it with the hair and eyes! I love it! Is it natural? Does it come with the super powers you have?" She pushed, running her fingers through her stands.
Aurora giggled, they exchanged warm looks then hugged themselves again.
"I'm glad we did it." I muttered softly.
"And I'm glad too, Lucian. I'm finally happy." She smiled up at me.
"Okay, that's enough, I need to hug my mate too."
Griffin pouted with a deapan face as he pulled Talia away from Aurora and took her into a deep hug. Aurora smiled and looked away as they shared a deep kiss. Her eyes happened to meet mine for a few seconds but she looked away quickly and instead focused on my mom.
"Eleanor!" She spread her arms open and rushed to hug mom, her hands closing over her small, thin body gently but securely.
"Hmmm. Aurora, my dear girl." Mom pulled back and stared at her face, a motherly smile on her lips as her eyed shone. "You look different...different but beautiful, very beautiful. The hair and eyes are..." She winked at her, "...very snazzy."
Aurora burst out laughing, her eyes almost closing while he shoulders shook with laughter. I stared at her, enraptured. She looked so happy and beautiful.
"Thank you..."
I turned away and left them to catch up on lost times. I spent the remaining time, making sure the women and children returned safely to their homes along with their husbands, brother, uncle, father...all the males. Eli, Jake, Kieran, Shawn and Griffin helped me with the few repairs we had to do while Aurora, Mirabel and Talia spent the time chatting. Although I did catch the momment of an intense stare down between Talia and Mirable over who was the better bestie to Aurora. It was a bit scary too but Aurora settled it by making it clear that Talia would always come first and there was no two ways about it. While Mirabel would always be her second best friend. She had to agree while pouting, but with the stink eyes Talia was throwing at her, she was definitely not going to lower her guard. Finally, all the repairs had been done and everyone and everything has been rightfully settled, and just in time because everyone was tired and ready to fall. Jake was already dozing off on a couch in the sitting room.
I clapped my hands loudly, the sound echoing loudly in the large sitting room.
"Alright guys, we did a good job today. Why don't we call it a day."
Eli yawned while nodding.
"You don't need to ask me twice. I'm beat."
"Thanks for your help man." I pointed upstairs. "Just head up and choose a room. But don't forget to take Jake."
"Got it." He pulled up a snoring Jake, hefted him onto his shoulder abs headed upstairs.
"I'll go get Talia, we're sleeping together from now on." Griffin stood up and went upstairs.
"Yeah, I'll get Bel, too." Shawn followed behind him.
The next few minutes were the sound of protest from the three ladies followed by unbothered replies from their mates as they carried them off. I felt a sense of sadness with a bit of loneliness, that I couldn't do this with Aurora. At least not yet, or never, depending on how she answers Kieran tonight. As if he knew what I was thinking, he cleared his throat and stood up.
"I'll be heading up now."
I couldn't look at him, I felt like a coward. Like I was doing something incredibly stupid.
'And you are.!' My wolf lashed out.
I know that, but I guess I'm just a coward for love. It's better she chooses who she wants than I forget her to be with me, ending in regret.
"Just go. Get it over with."
I turned away and headed outside, letting my legs take me wherever they wanted to. At least until I get the news.
