Chapter 101 101
CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND ONE
LUCIAN'S P.O.V
After he was gone, I let out a brief sign and sat down on the floor. The cell was dark but I could see perfectly fine thanks to my wolf's enhanced eyes. I almost lost my cool there. I thought to myself while staring up at the moldy ceiling. Then I heard the sound of something scratching against the wall. From the cell next to mine, the clanking sound of chains being dragged ran out. I sat up straight, stilling my breathing and perking my ears, waiting for the next sound.
"Lucian?"
My name was called out softly, a bit slow but laced with hope. I gasped, almost falling over as I stood up hurriedly and ran to the wall, placing my hands on the opposite side of the wall where the owner of the voice was.
"Griffin! Is that you?"
He let out a soft chuckle that was weighted with exhaustion.
"In the flesh."
I exhaled, letting my head drop against the wall as relief washed through me.
"I'm glad...I'm glad you're okay."
He was quite for a while.
"Me too. What happened Lucian? Why are you here? How are you here and where is Aurora?"
"Its a long story but she's safe."
"Thank goodness. Now what happened?"
I scanned the area discreetly and carefully, making sure no one was close enough to hear. If anyone got ahold of what I had planned, Desmond would have a way to counter our ambush.
I invested closer, pressing my face against the wall as I whispered.
"I came here on my own."
"I...I don't get it. What do you mean you came here on your own?"
I swallowed and continued.
"I let Desmond's men capture me and bring me here."
A beat of silence, then.
"You did what Lucian? Are you crazy?...Lucian, what the hell were you thinking?" he whispered, his voice urgent. "You could have gotten yourself killed!"
I smiled, feeling a sense of gratitude towards him.
"I had to, Griffin. I had to draw Desmond out."
He let out a strong cough that drew out of his chest and made my heart hurt with guilt and my eyes burn with anger. He cleared his throat, taking huge gulps of air theme he continued.
"Why would you come here voluntarily into the enemy's territory without a fucking plan?"
"Griffin, listen to me, I can explain."
"No you listen to me!" He hissed, rage in his voice. "You have no idea what we have been going through these past few months." His voice trembled, they spoke of pain and horrors he couldn't say. "We kept on pushing through because we had hope that you were coming to save us. And now? Now you're here locked up in the same place with us. And bundled helplessly with silver chains on our hands and neck like animals heading to the slaughter How the fick do you expect me to calm down!?"
I listened to him carefully and silently, when I saw he wasn't saying anything again, I opened my mouth.
"I know. Believe me...I know it hasn't been easy for you and I want to say the same for Aurora and I but then it will just sound selfish." I ran a hand through my hair. "But the truth is, there wasnt a single time that i didnt think abouy you guys. You all we're ony mind every single minute of the day and that's the honest truth. I missed you all, my pack, especially my mom. That's why I'm here. Can you just trust me and listen to my plan?"
He let out a disgruntled grunt.
"Fine, what's your plan,? Let's hear it."
I nodded gratefully and began to tell him everything and how the real battle would begin when Aurora and Kieran gets here. I finished and waited to hear from him. He took almost three minutes, I was beginning to think he had slept off.
"Lucian?"
"Yeah."
"In all my years of knowing you, and knowing the crazy things you have done...this beats the top."
I let out a sigh, he thinks it's a bad idea.
"But its a good plan you have there...even though it practically screams danger." He finished.
I laughed softly with relief.
"So you think the plan will work?"
"Yes, I do. It's just... Desmond's not going to make this easy, Lucian. But as long as its you, I know it will go well."
Emotion flooded through my chest, my eyes suddenly felt hot and I clenched my first to stop them from covering my face.
"Thanks man. Thanks for believing in me."
He replied calmly but I could here the slight tremble in his voice, not of rage but of joy.
"You're welcome. Thanks for coming back."
We let a few minutes pass in which we got ourselves back.
"What about Talia and...and my mother? Are they doing okay? Are they also in this cell?" I asked, my chest beating against my ribcage.
"Talia...your mother...? They...." He began slowly then stopped.
I felt a chill run down my spine. "What is it?"
"They are not here." He blurted out slowly.
"What do you mean they are not here? Are they in a different section of the dungeon?"
"No...they aren't anywhere in the dungeon at all."
My nose flared as a sense of urgency rushed through me. I balled my hands on my laps.
"Then where are they?"
"Lucian, I just need you to know that they are safe and alive."
A nervous growl escaped me, I stood up frantically, the silver digging into my hands and neck but I could barely give a damn right now.
"That's not the answer I was looking for. Griffin, where the fuck is my mother? Because if anything has happened to her, you better tell me now before I do something crazy!"
"Calm down, Lucian. I'll tell you, its just that I feel if you hear it, you might go ballistic."
"Well, I am already going ballistic so save yourself the sorry and just tell me."
He took a deep, shuddering breath.
"Okay, if you say so. But I still think you need to calm down."
I snarled, the sound echoing in the cell.
"Fine. Desmond has them in the..."
Suddenly, the sound of the dungeon doors opening reverberated in the dungeon and we stopped, listening for the sound of the footsteps that headed to our cell. Wait, no. It was my cell. A guard stood in front of my cell and announced while another opened the door and dragged me out.
"The alpha orders you be brought to him, right now." His lips curled in a sneeze as his eyes glinted maliciously.
"He has something to show you."
