Chapter 108 Chapter 108

Chapter 108 Chapter 108
AILSA

I woke up smiling, happiness flowed through my veins. It was the kind that was warm and disbelieving but it was real. All of it.

I strayed perfectly still, afraid that if I moved the memory of last night would fade from my mind. The candle, the roses, the soft words and the way Lucian had looked at me as if I was the only person in the world.

My smile widened as I turned to my side. To the person, who had me smiling like a schoolgirl so early in the morning. He laid on his back, one arm thrown loosely above his head, his breathing slow and even.

Even in sleep, he looked so handsome. His jaw which was always clenched relaxed now, his lashes dark against his skin. His mouth usually set in command or restraint, looked gentle.

I couldn’t help but blush when I remembered those were the same mouth that had done all sort of things to my body. I lifted my hand, hovering just above his face, tracing the line of his jaw without touching. I wondered how someone who carried so much weight and responsibilities could look so peaceful.

“I can feel you staring” he murmured suddenly. I gasped, my hand jerking back as my heart leapt in my throat. His lips curved into a lazy smile before he opened his eyes.

“I wasn’t staring” I mumbled.

“Good morning, my Luna” he said softly. Heart rushed to my cheeks.

My Luna. That was sweet of him to address me that way.

“You were supposed to be asleep” I frowned.

“I was but then I felt you watching me and it was hard to pretend” he replied. I swallowed suddenly shy under his gaze.

“How long were you awake?”

“The moment you turned to look at me” I gasped. He had been pretending all this while.

“So you’ve been awake all this time. You’re unfair” he chuckled quietly and shifted closer, his arm coming around my waist, pulling me against him until my cheek rested against his chest. His heartbeat was steady beneath my ear.

“I wanted to know how long you were going to stare at me. And also I enjoyed your pretty gaze checking me out” he murmured.

“I wasn’t checking you out” I denied.

“You were. You were looking at me like a sculpture worth keeping” he winked at me.

“You are” I said without thinking.

His fingers stilled in my hair for a second. Then he pressed a kiss to my forehead, his lips lingering.

“You have no idea what that does to me” he whispered, taking my wrist and kissing it.

“I hope you had a good night rest” I asked him.

“With you by my side, I always have the best sleep. You are my stress reliever” I blushed.

We stayed like that for a while, just holding each other and breathing our scents.

“I like as I don’t have to think about anything. And I’m lying here with you in my arms”

“Me too. It feels like we never had the time to linger in bed at the pack house” I confessed.

“True. Sometimes, I’m up before you and when I see how peaceful you look in your sleep, I wouldn’t want to disturb you but other times I can’t help but do this….” And he kissed my nose.

“You have so much work to do and sometimes I never see you during the day so I like it when you wake me up in the morning with your kisses”

“I’d do that more often. And what about when you’re angry at me? Would you still like me to wake you up with kisses”

“Yes. I might be mad at you but I’d still welcome your kisses”

“My back usually hurt after I slept elsewhere” I laughed at that.

“I don’t chase you away. I only tell you not to hold me”

“What’s the difference? Telling me not to hold you is like sending me away”

“I won’t do that anymore. Just behave yourself and I won’t chase you away”

We talked about other things, how the cabin was so quiet and secluded, I told him we should come here often and he agreed. We talked about how comfortable the bed was and other random stuff.

He didn’t bring up the pack for once or anything about work. We just spoke about us and it was awesome. Eventually, my stomach betrayed me with a soft growl which made us laugh.

“I was wondering how long you’d last” he said. “Come, let’s eat” I pushed myself up on one elbow, looking at him like he’d grown a second head.

“Eat? But we don’t have anything to eat” his lips curved in a smirk.

“You think I’d bring you here unprepared?”

Before I could question him further, he swung his legs out of the bed and pulled on his trousers. I followed, wrapping the blanket around myself as we walked into the main room. I didn’t mind my half state of undress.

My mouth fell open. A table had been set with fresh bread, fruit, tea and plates were already laid out. It looked warm and intentional.

“Don’t tell me you made breakfast?”

“While I’d love to give you breakfast in bed, I didn’t make this one. I had the servants prepare it and Aiden brought everything up. I told him to keep it in the main room so he wouldn’t interrupt us in case we were doing something”

“You’re incorrigible” I smacked his shoulders. I was stunned.

“So you planned all of this?” He shrugged.

“I wanted you to have an easy morning”

Emotions swelled in my chest. I stepped forward and kissed him quickly on the lips.

“I’m starving” I said smiling.

“It’s expected, after all we did last night”

“Of course. I’m very worn out from yesterday” his grin turned wicked.

“Good. Because after this meal, I would love to do more wicked things to your body”

“I haven’t even recovered from last nights own, Lucian. My body is sore”

“I’ll make it better. I’d prepare a soothing bath for you” I smiled at that.

Even though my muscles were sore and I needed a shower, I didn’t care. I needed to eat first. Lucian and I ate together, sharing food and stealing bites from each other’s plates. It felt domestic like something I could get used to. And I imagined us with a little boy or girl, eating and laughing like this. I pushed the thought to the back of my mind, not wanting to spoil breakfast

Then there was a knock on the door. Lucian’s smile faded instantly and so did mine. He rose and opened the door to reveal Aiden standing there. One look at his expression made my stomach tighten.

“What is it? Why are you interrupting us Aiden?” Lucian asked sharply. Aiden bowed lightly, his eyes flicked to me and back to Lucian.

“I’m sorry to interrupt the both of you but you need to return to the pack immediately” Lucian’s frown deepened.

“Why?” Aiden hesitated.

I had a feeling that the next thing he was going to say a was going to disrupt everything.

“Elara”
